My husband and I couldn’t stop talking about Mughsail Beach while preparing for our first landmark visit in Salalah, at the same time, we were a bit worried about the weather, wondering if we would even be able to wander and enjoy the place. Dark clouds appeared over the city as we moved out of our hotel. The sky marked heavy with rain. I quietly hoped and prayed that it wouldn’t rain. But I told myself even if it did, we would make the most of it. Sometimes, the best reflections are made when nature chooses to stun you.
When we reached at the beach, the wind hailed us first, strong and hasty. It carries the distinct spoor of the sea. A light rainfall shower the air, but it didn’t moisten our spirits at all. We had an hour and a half to roam and explore and that was all the time we needed to dive into the experience.

Stepping off the bus, we were allured. I was right away struck by the sight of the waves. The waves ascended and smashed with a wild zest that I had never encountered back home in the Philippines. The water gleamed under the muted sunlight. Each bump makes foamy drizzle into the air. It loads our senses with the ocean’s fresh energy. I spun to my husband unable to conceal my admiration and uttered aloud, It’s like in the movies!

I falter to get too close to the shore, scared by the crashing waves. But my husband encouraged me with a smile, assuring me that it was safe. My heart was pounding each time a wave spread closer than expected. My husband was delighted by the wind and waves that made it easy for me to go with the flow. We paused often to take photos. I asked him to take a jump shot of me but he kept missing the timing. So I posed with my hands up in glee and he do the same.

As we walked further, the view left us wholly stunned. It opened up to disclose an incredible rocky coastline. Waves continually shattered against the spiky cliffs. Making sprays of white foam high into the air with each strong wave. The spiky rocks and patches of lively greenery soothed the view. It created a site that felt both fierce and placid. As if nature had smeared it just for us to admire.

As we continued our walk, we were startled to discover even more awesome views. Tall cliffs rose beautifully before us. It frames the coastline with a fine beauty that left us speechless. The fog and mist that hung in the air added a dreamlike status. It eases the rugged cliffs and lends the spot an exquisite mystic beauty. As we drew closer the scope and strength of nature fully enfolded us. That leaves us both humbled and thrilled.
The mixture of wind, waves, rain and cliffs created an ideal harmony. A natural experience that was both exciting and relaxing. The impulsive weather became part of the adventure and every wave, every gust of wind, every misty moment added to the magic. Mughsail Beach had shown us that true wonder often comes when you embrace the unexpected and let yourself wander freely.
