Spring Hiking the Wetland - Seli Bog

Estonia is 22% covered with wetlands and I have visited most of the accessible one. Many of them several times over and over again. A wetland in this post is Seli bog which I had visited once before too.
It was in the winter with full snowy conditions. You can find a post about it here Exploring Snowy Seli Bog
This time however I was there in the spring... First photo is taken at the start of the wooden boardwalk. Once the boardwalk starts, you always know that you now arrived in the wetland.

The trail in this bog is about 4 km long one-way, but it goes on much longer beyond this wetland if one is up for the hike. Here I didn't go further than Seli bog this time.

All the small lakes and water is still frozen because the weather and especially the nights were still below freezing. Of course, It's not a good idea to go out on the ice because the chances are that it will give out and those lakes can be deep.

If you have followed me for a while, then you are definitely familiar with these distinctive landscapes because I visit wetlands like this pretty often.
In a photo below, you can notice the small tower. This can be climbed to get a better view of the bog. I did it later on my way back.

You can see some open water in this lake below. This mot likely means that there is some movement of the water in this spot. Likely water from below ground pushes to the surface.

Trees in the bog are short but can be very old. They don't grow to be high because of nutrient-deficient soil.

Here is the edge of the Seli bog. you can see a bigger lake back there. This is where some of the bog water flows from the sponge. The sponge is the bog itself because it holds water like a sponge and in theory could be squeezed empty.

I didn't go any further from this point at the time and turned back.

On my way back I climbed the rather underwhelming tower to get a better areal view of the lands surrounding me. Many bogs here in Estonia have much larger and taller towers.

Still, the views are for sure worth showing.

I currently have not been to any wetland for more than a month. It's almost unheard of for me, haha.
Can't wait to choose and go again to some bog and especially find new ones that I have not yet visited.

It's very hot in many countries right now, but there's still snow in your city, so that's great. It helps relax the mind when it's not so hot.
