Plant/Garden Update 2 - Growth Is Here!
It's been 3 weeks since my first update when I bought the palm and citrus tree, and also planted some flower seeds indoors. You can find the first post here. Now plants have been progressing a bit and seeds have produced a growth. Time to update how things are going.
Citrus has seen new growth. Especially the top part grows into height really fast and it doesn't look particularly nice. I think I might need to cut it off. I'm sure that the energy could be used somewhat better, like the growth into width or more energy into producing fruit. There are 3 lemons growing which were there before and these are still pretty much stone-hard. Most of the blooming flowers on the tree are gone.
I'm still a long way from bringing the citrus tree and palm tree outside. Nights are still very cold and will kill these trees. I am trying to show them as much sunshine as I can near the window. At least our days are getting really long now.
Good thing is, I haven't killed the citrus tree. Im quite worried about growing it. See the first post about why it's so hard to grow.
Palm looks the same as before. Im not sure if it's grown taller and wider or not. Usually, this palm is a fast-growing one. It's hard to notice the growth because there are no new growths coming out. I should start measuring it. That's a good idea, I'm gonna go and do that... Done, right now it's 94cm tall from stem to the highest leaf. Let's see in a few weeks, in a new update if it's gotten any taller.
You can also see some cacti behind the palm. Some grow, and some are not that happy.
The seeds I planted have started growing but I'm a bit worried. The largest green ones are Zinnia flowers. But they seem so bent, heavily turning to light outside. I turn them around and then they turn again and the stem gets even weirder and I think, weaker. Should I maybe get them far away from the window where there is less light? I'm worried that if these grow up and I replant them outdoors, they are weak and will snap with the wind. Has happened before. If you have any good pointers, plz share!
The small red ones are Love-lies-bleeding, I have never grown these before so I have no idea what happens to these, but these look cool already.
The 3 empty pots are snapdragons. It's hard to see from the picture but something is visible. Been like this for a while, hope these grow.
Outdoors, the garden is also starting to wake slowly. Snowfree but still too cold to plant or do anything outside. Some plants are starting to emerge by themselves. Snowdrops are out and in full blooming mode!
Tulips have emerged from the ground too. I'm always amazed that they emerge with such cold weather. Our nights still go to -5 degrees C. These are probably ready to bloom at the end of May.
Bushes are usually the first to grow leaves. I can already see some first signs of leaf growth on red currant. Leaves will probably be out in 3 weeks or so.
Spring is always such a lovely time imo. I love to see nature waking up and plants starting to grow. Every week nature gets greener slowly and more colorful.
In the next update in a few weeks, things are definitely different!
Don't forget to participate in my monthly weather guessing game here and you might win 10 HIVE. The game is open until the 17th of April.
Indeed, spring is splendid! It never fails to amaze us how nature shows its beauty in every season especially this one. You love planting too! That's so nice of you... Can't wait to have your plants full grown beautifully. 😊
Planting is fun and seeing the crops grow from seed. Not sure though that anything comes from these plants. I need to put some seeds outdoors soon, higher chance of success, id say.
What a fun update. Good job on not killing the citrus. I killed mine. :( The tulips are looking great. So fun.
Its only been 3 weeks, cant cheer yet 😬.
Do you know what caused yours to die ? So I know what to avoid😀.
I am not sure. Might be overwatering. I seem to do that with plants in pots. That is why gardening is so much easier for me.
Ah, oke. Overwatering is especially dangerous on citrus trees as I have learned.
Spring blooming is my favorite part of the season and the year. The plants are blossoming and the people are getting out more.
Good luck with your indoor trees!
Thanks! Luck is much needed. Especially if im not sure what im doing lol.
Full spring blossoming is about a month away, cant wait!
