More Crazy Northern Lights Action

On October 10 we had an extreme solar storm hitting the Earth. A strong X-class eruption happened on the sun and it was directly directed at Earth. When we got hit a couple of days later I desperately wanted to see the northern lights that it brings but our skies were cloudy.
I regularly looked out the window to see if some holes could be seen in the clouds. At some point, I noticed some clearing. I didn't waste a second. Took my camera and ran outside to see what I could see.
What I did see was nothing short but spectacular color play.

I could clearly see everything with my naked eyes. A lot of red color was visible and and also green. I directed my camera straight above my head because it was cloud-free. These are the photos I got.

This is pretty much what I could see with my naked eyes too. I try to not overexpose my photos too much because I want to keep them on the same level as reality. Otherwise, I could make the light look much more brighter if I wanted to.

You can see a lot of clouds too but the lights were so intense that I could see those even behind the clouds.

I was lucky that it even cleared up for a while and I got to capture that. After 20 minutes it got fully cloudy again and I went back home. I didn't notice any clear skies after that anymore that night. Storms of that level are pretty rare but I have a feeling that we will get something like that this season again.

Splendid view, you need to wait to capture this kind of image, and then you get perfect photos. you have done a great job.

These shots are not perfect for me, not good framing but I had very few opportunities to frame the photos like I wanted due to the clouds.

The aurora is very beautiful to see, you live in a very beautiful place where you can see the aurora with your own eyes. Amazing photography

Such a sight is rarely seen. You have worked hard to create beautiful pictures. We are also very happy to see them.

What a spectacle! 😍 I like that you don't manipulate your photos too much. I have never seen the northern lights and all those bright photos that you normally see don't look very real. I have always thought that you can only see it in the north, but recently it appears in Slovakia too. There are some cool photos from my hometown, but of course I never see it when I'm there 😂

Its a solar maximum period right now and quite a lot of strong solar storms hit us. So strong that the lights can be seen all the way to Slovakia. Dont worry, you have about 2 years worth of chances to see these in Slovakia still.

Oh, that dancing aurora light in the sky! Really nice view. For me, to see colors other than minimal green is already a great success, even despite the clouds :) It's good that there was a time when gaps in the clouds opened up.

Red auroras are the highest ones and can be seen only during the strong storms usually. I got lucky with the gaps yeah!
