Cars Going Sideways

Two weeks ago, I made a post about cool cars that I saw at the drifting festival. You can see the post of this here, if you didn't before. This time, I have the action shots and videos for you, where these cars actually go sideways on the track.

There were two tracks. First, I went next to the main track, which is faster and took a couple of shots there.

There is actually a jump on the track, but only cars that come in really fast can get a bit airborne. This place is Laitse Rally park in Estonia and is often called the Ebisu of Europe. Due to this jump and the concrete walls.

I didn't stay at this spot for very long and moved around a bit. These are taken in the pits.

The following shots are taken next to another trail, which is slower but has a lot more technical, tight turns. Drift cars were doing tandems with 6 cars. Meaning 6 cars were drifting side by side.

Drivers pushing this big tire to the side of the track to its place because someone drifted into it.

This is taken mid-crash. One driver lost control, spun out, and the other driver crashed into the other. Not a heavy crash, but the cars got a bit damaged.

Now back at the side of the bigger track again. The sun started to go lower, which means my photos look better than I can get during midday. In fact, the event went well into the darkness.

It was crazy to see this Volvo drifting. It's like a large coffin and looks insanely weird going sideways.

By this time, the sun was going away and I had been hearing these roaring cars throughout the day. My ears were honestly bleeding, hahah, well not literally but you get what I mean. I still wanted to stay there till the end of this event. It's rare when we can see drifting in the dark as well.

She drifted into the concrete and flipped the car. She was well.

In this case, however, the photos can only show so much... So here I have a couple of videos for you to see, of how it really looked there!

Here is sunset drifting.

The drift season is now over. Waiting for the next year to be able to go to Driftfest and drift championships again!

It seems that you have great skills of photography not only your photography but of colour editing colour gradient and colour correction while the photos captured on the high shutter rate are really amazing.

Thanks, these are taken at about 1/400 shutter speeds, so the wheel spin can still be seen. Most of the color editing is done by the sunset haha😄

Those are some unbelievable angles of the rally cars in action. I'm not much of a race car follower, but it sure is cool to see the cars drifting sideways like that!

In general, I'm not either, but drift cars have a place in my heart. This is the only car sports I follow, really. Drift has so much action to it, and the community is great everywhere.

Fantastic, I've always wanted to take photos of car races, capturing a bit of that movement is wonderful.

I love it too, but it's hard to find cool, different angles since I'm not an official photographer there. I can only take pictures in a general spectator area.

The drifting shots sound awesome, especially with the night setting. Glad everyone was okay after the crash , can’t wait to see what next year brings
