Autumn Walkthrough in One Of the Most Beautiful Wetlands of Estonia

After the camping trip I had recently, I didn't go home the next day straight away. Me and my girfriend decided to be outdoors the next day as well. North-Kõrvemaa part of Estonia has a lot of forests and wetlands to explore, and one of those wetlands is a Kõnnu swamp.
I have been there before and in my mind, this wetland makes it to my top3 of the most beautiful wetlands of Estonia due to it's extremely scenic bog lakes.

The weather was mostly great and sunny, altough a bit windy at times and on the open landscape.
The part where the bog trail starts and I have usually walked on, was underwater to my surprise. Turns out, there have been water rerouting works and they are raising one of the lake-s waterlevel.

No worries, there was a reroute fortunately.
I love how this lake looks like. It's named a Longlake for a reason.

A lot of colors can be seen around the lake and in the swamp in general.

It doesn't really matter actually what's the season in the bogs. The colors don't change that much and there usually are no leafy trees, mostly pines. If I put photos side by side of spring, fall and summer. Its not very clear which season it is. The only way you could notice, are some plants and early summer is a bit greener, otherwise the same.

Some people were picking something in the bog with bags in hand. At first, we had no idea what they are doing. We soon realized that they are picking cranberries. These are not visible on my photos but there were quite a lot of those.

The trail that goes through this swamp is 2.5 kilometers long, one-way.

Here are the lakes I was talking about in the beginning. This is what makes this wetland stand out and make it in my top 3 wetland spot in Estonia. These lakes look mind blowing in my opinion.
The photos are not that awesome since there were some waves on the water due to the wind, but you can still get the idea.

Last year, I made a post of the same wetland when I first went there in June. Then the lighting was better and due to the quiet weather the reflections were awesome on the water. You can see the post here.

We did hike farther than this bog only but I will make the post of the other location later.
Here are some more photos while we were walking back the same way through this swamp. The sun was going down and it cast quite a reddish hue over the landscapes, it's not fully an image editing.

Now the only season when I haven't visited this wetland is the spring. Think I have to fix this problem at some point.

It sure is. Moss turns red in there, that also gives a lot of color.
