Abandoned Building in a Middle of Nowhere in Porto Santo

avatar
(Edited)

There is always something about abandoned buildings that seem mysterious and pulls you to see closer. As we were traveling on Porto Santo, I noticed a building on the road that looked abandoned. I wondered if I can get any closer and see what there is to see. Indeed there was a forgotten gravel road that led to the building but I had to ditch my quad bike halfway there due to blockage on the path.

It's located in quite a scenic place and whenever someone lived there, he/she would have every morning to wake up to great views. In the photo below you can see the place in the middle of the empty plains.

By the looks of the patterns on the field, it looks like it was used for farming. A lot of stone fences and stuff.

Let's get a bit closer. All that's left is pretty much rubble. Collapsed roof and the walls don't seem that sturdy either. It looks like it has been abandoned for a long while.

An interesting tree was in the yard. I don't think I have seen a tree like this before.

I tried to get inside but there were rusted nails and other rusted metal everywhere, I was afraid to cut myself with these things. Somehow I still managed to get a short glimpse inside. Not much there, just some junk.

A couple of shots of the fields that were used on this farm.

A side building on a field. I didn't go to see it close but I doubt there would have been anything noteworthy to see.

Finally, some cool plants I saw in the yard there.

Wouldnt want to fall into this thorned monstrosity.

By the marks and tire tracks, it seems like someone still goes there and does something. Unfortunately, I have no idea why someone goes there and what he/she does in this forgotten place. It was cool to see it still.

I love those abandoned places. They pull me too, to explore.
If I stumble upon them I try to go on.
But I see what you mean, lots of rubble left and lots of rusty things.
Its location is breathtakingly wonderful. What a place to live…
Thanks for sharing. Have a great evening 👋🏻😊

Some places are worth visiting, then again others really are not. I think this one was. Mostly just for the location.

How someone can abandon this house which is built in such a beautiful place? Have you tried to ask this question to people living in the neighbour hood?

There is no one living nearby. It's a lone house in the middle of nowhere. So yeah, no one to ask to 😀

I myself am very fond of visiting such places where one can see such beautiful views as we see these mountains are also looking very beautiful and the water is also very blue. It looks more beautiful, you will see natural things, and you get a lot of peace.

An abandoned house on this place, they must have left a long time ago. I don't see a lot of people here either😅

I think it's been abandoned for about 30 years if I had to guess. I might be totally wrong tho.
