Some people walk down the street every day without noticing anything. I can't. There's a kind of addiction to looking at things that normally go unnoticed. A wall marked by time, a lamppost covered in old advertisements, a broken sidewalk, a person rushing through the city without realizing they're part of a unique scene. They're simple details, but they carry stories.
Tem gente que passa pela rua todos os dias sem reparar em nada. Eu não consigo. Existe uma espécie de vício em olhar para aquilo que normalmente passa despercebido. Um muro marcado pelo tempo, um poste coberto de anúncios antigos, uma calçada quebrada, uma pessoa atravessando a correria da cidade sem imaginar que faz parte de uma cena única. São detalhes simples, mas que carregam histórias.

Sometimes people ask me why I keep photographing the same streets, the same neighborhoods, the same daily life. The truth is, it's never the same. The city is constantly changing. The light changes, the people change, the feelings change. What seems ordinary today will be a memory tomorrow.
Às vezes me perguntam por que continuo fotografando as mesmas ruas, os mesmos bairros, o mesmo cotidiano. A verdade é que nunca é o mesmo. A cidade muda o tempo todo. A luz muda, as pessoas mudam, os sentimentos mudam. O que hoje parece comum, amanhã já virou memória.

I have this knack for documenting the street because that's where life happens without a script. There's no production, no rehearsal, no second take. It's all real. It's the aesthetic that arises from improvisation, from wear and tear, from movement, and from coexistence.
Tenho essa sina de registrar a rua porque é nela que a vida acontece sem roteiro. Não existe produção, não existe ensaio, não existe segunda tomada. É tudo real. É a estética que nasce do improviso, do desgaste, do movimento e da convivência.

While many people are looking ahead, trying to get somewhere, I'm looking around, trying to understand what that moment has to say. And perhaps that's why I keep returning to the streets with a camera in hand. Not to show something extraordinary, but to remember that the extraordinary has almost always been hidden within the ordinary.
Enquanto muita gente está olhando para frente tentando chegar em algum lugar, eu estou olhando para os lados tentando entender o que aquele momento tem para dizer. E talvez seja por isso que continuo voltando para as ruas com uma câmera na mão. Não para mostrar algo extraordinário, mas para lembrar que o extraordinário quase sempre esteve escondido dentro do ordinário.

Many times I go out without looking for anything specific. There's no planned photo, no script, or exact expectation. I just walk. I observe. I listen to the sounds of the city, follow the flow of people, and let events find me. Photography, for me, is born from this encounter. From this instant when something seemingly ordinary gains meaning.
Muitas das vezes saio sem procurar nada específico. Não existe uma foto planejada, um roteiro ou uma expectativa exata. Eu apenas caminho. Observo. Escuto os sons da cidade, acompanho o fluxo das pessoas e deixo que os acontecimentos me encontrem. A fotografia, para mim, nasce desse encontro. Desse instante em que algo aparentemente comum ganha significado.

We live in a time when everything happens very quickly. We scroll through screens, consume images, and move on without looking twice. Photographing the street ends up being a form of resistance against this haste. It's an invitation to observe. To notice. To see.
Vivemos em uma época em que tudo acontece muito rápido. Rolamos telas, consumimos imagens e seguimos em frente sem olhar duas vezes. Fotografar a rua acaba sendo uma forma de resistência contra essa pressa. É um convite para observar. Para reparar. Para enxergar.
