Esta tarde fue la Cabalgata de Reyes; mañana, los niños recibirán sus regalos (solo los bien portados, los otros recibirán carbón, ¡jajaja!); y el lunes ya no quedará rastro alguno de la festividad navideña. ¡Se acabaron las fiestas!… hasta el próximo año.

En muchas culturas y países, hoy es un día importante que celebran en grande: la llegada de los Reyes Magos. Es todo un acontecimiento; con decirles que aquí en España les dicen “Sus Majestades los Reyes”. ¡Me encanta! El año pasado, vi la Cabalgata de Reyes por primera vez y me encantó: carrozas, música, caramelos.

Es una celebración muy bonita y alegre, que en reflexión nos recuerda la razón de ser de la Navidad: El nacimiento del Niño Jesús.

Como yo lo veo, celebrando la llegada de los Reyes Magos, estamos también celebrando que Jesús nació. Ambos eventos guardan estrecha relación, pues según las creencias, a pocos días de haber nacido el Niño, tres Reyes Magos llegaron a su portal guiados por la estrella de Belén, para adorarle y ofrecerle oro, incienso y mirra como presentes.

Años más tarde, ¡Voilà! ¡Nació una tradición! Cada 6 de enero, los niños esperan ansiosos a los Reyes Magos para recibir sus regalos. Aunque los obsequios parecen ser lo más importante, al menos para los más pequeños, reflexionar sobre las tradiciones religiosas y culturales lo es para mí. Por eso, decidimos visitar un hermoso Belén cercano.

Lo que en Venezuela llamamos “El Nacimiento” o “El Pesebre”, aquí es conocido como “El Belén”. Esta representación artística intenta recrear, según las escrituras, la forma, el lugar y las condiciones en las que se supone nació el Niño. He tenido la suerte de ver varios Belenes, y todos son realmente hermosos. Un pueblo completo pareciera cobrar vida a través de piezas que representan personajes, edificaciones y todos los elementos que buscan recrear el escenario del nacimiento de Jesús.

Capturé algunas tomas detalladas para que cada aspecto de las figuras pueda ser apreciado. Todo está cuidadosamente dispuesto, con atención a los detalles, creando la impresión de un pueblo que realmente cobra vida con personajes que van al mercado, cruzan las calles e incluso son vigiladas de cerca por las autoridades de la época. Y, por supuesto, en el centro de todo, se encuentra el establo, el pesebre en sí, donde se dice que María trajo al mundo al Hijo de Dios, acompañada por José, con una mula y un buey como testigos del histórico acontecimiento.

In many cultures and countries, today is an important day celebrated in a big way: the arrival of the Three Wise Men. It's quite an event; they even call them "Their Majesties, the Kings" here in Spain. I love it! Last year, I saw the Three Kings' Parade for the first time, and I loved it: floats, music, candies.

It's a very beautiful and joyful celebration, which, in reflection, reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of Baby Jesus.

As I see it, celebrating the arrival of the Three Wise Men is also celebrating that Jesus was born. Both events are closely related because, according to beliefs, a few days after the Baby was born, three Wise Men arrived at his manger guided by the Star of Bethlehem, to worship him and offer gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Years later, voilà! A tradition was born! Every January 6th, children eagerly await the Three Wise Men to receive their gifts. Although the gifts seem to be the most important, at least for the little ones, reflecting on religious and cultural traditions is important to me. That's why we decided to visit a beautiful Nativity scene nearby.

What in Venezuela we call " The Nativity" or " The Manger" here is known as "The Nativity Scene". This artistic representation attempts to recreate, according to scriptures, the form, place, and conditions in which the God Child is supposed to have been born. I've been fortunate to see several Nativity scenes, and they are all truly beautiful. An entire town seems to come to life through pieces representing characters, buildings, and all the elements that seek to recreate the scene of Jesus' birth.

I captured some detailed shots so that every aspect of the figures can be appreciated. Everything is carefully arranged, paying attention to details, creating the impression of a town that truly comes to life with characters going to the market, crossing the streets, and even being closely watched by the authorities of that time. And, of course, in the center of it all is the stable, the manger itself, where it is said that Mary brought the Son of God into the world, accompanied by Joseph, with a mule and an ox as witnesses to this historic event.

It's truly charming!
