I know I have said it before but it is kind of tragic to me that people would just abandon these slides. Perhaps they kept the prints and realized the slides were a passing fad. My own grandfather used to have one of those slide projectors but we only ever used it at family get togethers. I guess I can understand how someone would be ok with these just getting lost.

I'm sure you remember how they would always give you the negatives back with your photos at the photo shops. Did anyone ever do anything with those? I just threw mine out right away.... along with most of the pictures because I had a crap camera that would ruin almost anything.

Negatives were only useful if you needed more prints or enlargements. I mean you could get an enlargement from a print but the quality would be worse. Having said that, I don't think I ever used negatives for that purpose more than a couple of times. However, you get MUCH better quality scanning negatives (or slides) vs. scanning prints.
