Protest in my City - STOP KEMOKOP STOP
Good and calm Sunday dear Friends and Photography LoversππΈ
Yesterday, my city held another peaceful protest against the company KEMOKOP, which brings slag almost to the city center every day by truck, and the city leadership allowed this. Slag can be dangerous and harmful to people, especially if inhaled, swallowed or exposed to the skin for a long time.
I have to describe our city to you a little, which was a rich city, we had large factories in the industrial zone, an iron factory, oil refining, beverage production, agricultural equipment production, clothing production .... A few more smaller, service-oriented manufacturing activities .... Dear friends, in the damn privatization, all of that disappeared, everything was sold for nothing. My city has been a dead city for years. People are leaving for foreign countries in search of a better tomorrow. We, who are still here, must fight against such moves by the city's powerful.
And that's why, in a peaceful way, we are trying to fight for our city to be healthy.
The following text was taken from the Sisak-info portal on Facebook, I quote: "After the European Union court ordered Croatia, which had refused for almost 15 years, to remediate this waste, prescribing it to pay a fine of one million euros and an additional fixed amount for each day until the waste is processed, the Environmental Protection Fund announced a tender for the removal and processing of the slag, and the job was won by Kemokop from Dugo Selo, which has been processing it for several weeks at its location in, practically, the very center of Sisak.
"Given that the European Commission claimed that slag is hazardous waste and the EU court found that the Republic of Croatia did not prove the opposite, we demand that a review be carried out of the tenders and procedures of the Environmental Protection Fund, which declared slag as non-hazardous waste. In addition, slag is just the last straw because many recordings and photos show that the companies Remondis Medison and Kemokop process waste in the open without complying with regulations. In addition to the slag, there was also medical waste and many other types of waste in the open spread unpleasant smells. There were already two fires, and we are looking for inspections that will determine the irregularities "- pointed out from the Citizens' Initiative.
And the big question is what we little people can do against things like this and in the fight for a healthy environment for our children, for their children's children... It's sad that the fate of the city and its residents is determined by a few people...
- I took the photos with a Nikon D750, 50mm lens, f/1.8, manual mode, RAW required, processed in Photoshop in terms of cropping and a little contrast in the Camera Raw Filter.*
And, this is all for Today, see you Tomorrow with a slightly brighter and more beautiful post
