Đula's abyss

Hello dear people in the Visual Shots Community 🙌📸

After a rather long break, here I am again with you. Today I will present to you a magical, historical and dramatic event from the ancient past of the town of Ogulin in my beautiful Croatia in Gorski Kotar, a beautiful part of my country. There are several stories about this place, I will now quote one that is considered to be quite accurate, in any case, it is sad.

"The Legend of Đula

Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Đula, known for her beauty and gentle nature. She fell in love with a young man, but their love was not happy — according to one version, the young man died in the war, while according to another, he was not allowed to be with her due to family or social obstacles.

Deep in grief and without hope, Đula decided to end her life. She came to a steep abyss where the Dobra River disappears underground — and threw herself into the depths.

Since then, according to legend, her spirit has been wandering that place. It is said that in the silence of the night, sobs or whispers can be heard from the abyss — as an eternal memory of unhappy love."

So, let's go see together this sad place

The ravine is now known as Đulin's ravine and is one of the most striking natural phenomena in Croatia — a place where a river suddenly disappears underground, creating a dramatic scene.
Đulin's ravine is not only a natural attraction but also a symbol of Ogulin — a city often called the "city of fairy tales". At this place, on the fence above the ravine, couples come to leave love locks with their details.

I took the photos with a Nikon D750, 50mm lens, f/1.8, manual mode, RAW format required, variable ISO and shutter speed. Processing in Photoshop - Camera Raw Filter.
