Day on the Cat's Stone-Serbia

Hello my dears!
I would like you to get to know the place where I come from. I was born in a town by the river Drina. Loznica is located in Western Serbia and has a natural border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the most beautiful river Drina.
Loznica is a historical place, known for cultural and historical events, surrounded by mountains, rivers Jadra, Drina and Štir, but today I will write to you about a little forgotten, but very historically significant place called Mačkov kamen.
Mačkov kamen is part of Jagodnja mountain and during World War 1 it was the main stronghold after the battle on Cer and Gučevo.
I wanted my son to get to know every part of our beautiful Serbia, so of course we started with the surroundings of my hometown.
We set off and in less than an hour we reached the town, a small town called Krupanj.
We sat down there to take a break, have a drink and eat ice cream.


We continued driving for another ten minutes. The road led us uphill, because Mačkov kamen is at an altitude of about 900 meters.
First we came to the memorial complex and I felt a great sadness, because the place seemed a bit neglected, with big grass, with some small dogs that were left there. First, I fed the little dogs and I found a container in the car to leave water for them. I was really, really sad.
Until I found a solution for the dogs, I did not calm down. Near the complex, I saw this little house, a log cabin, where an elderly man was. Even with three dogs, he received us and took the dogs for himself. He didn't want to be photographed, so I only photographed the log cabin.

Then we went back to the compound and you can see that I was happy again.
We took a lot of beautiful photos, lit candles in memory of those who died in the First World War and looked at maps, photos of documents that are located at the entrance to the complex.

We continued on foot along a narrow forest road to a wonderful viewpoint from where you can see the Tara and Zlatibor mountains and the Drina river.
I was breathing clean air, hugging trees and honestly, enjoying myself and acting like a child.

I enjoyed that day with my son and my wife and I was somehow proud, happy and satisfied.
