Whenever I'm asked what type of outfit I love making the most, as this is the question I get asked often by curious minds who are always amazed by the fact that I make both male and female clothing, it will interest you to know that making beautiful dresses for young/little girls is the part of sewing I love the most, seeing them look so adorable on my creations gives me all the satisfaction sewing brings, the reasons not being far fetched from the fact that making their dresses is pretty straight forward unlike dresses made for adult females that would sometimes need a bit of contour, also, it is less time consuming depending on the style pattern, it is also easy to get more creative while making their outfits, above all, they look so adorable in most outfits made for them effortlessly.

A few months back, I made a beautiful matching dress for my little friend Sophia and her mum to mark her 5th birthday, which I shared in this post although I didn't get to share how hers looked then because I wasn't through with hers, but promises to, so here you have it, promise fulfilled.

After making that outfit, there were still some little leftover pieces of fabric, that I didn't feel comfortable throwing out, and also didn't want to clutter my sewing room with more fabrics, so I decided to make another outfit for Sophia using the remnant fabric, but still, it won't be enough for a full dress,

I searched my fabric store and found this beautiful green Damask fabric with bits of pink designs on it, I knew Instantly it was the fabric I needed to combine with the pink sink to make a simple and elegant dress for Sophia, so I got to work.

First, by drafting an A-line pattern on the pink silk using her measurements, after which I cut it out, for both front and back.

The front pattern has a deeper neckline compared to the back,

Next, I piped the neckline and armhole area, using the damask fabric, and also created a slight slit at the back, so it can easily pass her head, I also added a loop and button.

After piping all around, the neck armhole and loop area, I joined the dress by the sides and gathered the damask fabric that completes the full length of the dress. And that's all, the making of Sophia's dress is completed.

Look how adorable she looks in her simple dress, I also made a cute little bow which I attached to the dress for more details.

Her mum sent me these pictures and told me how little Sophia has refused to put on another dress, lol, it must be so comfortable for her, especially in this summer with the heat waves going higher every day, this is just the perfect dress for the weather. I had to speak to her over the phone to let her mum wear her another dress so she could help her wash her new dress after wearing it for the while day, and promised to make her another beautiful dress.

What do you think of Sophia's new dress, do let me know in the comment section.

Thank you for reading.❤❤
