Hacen algunos años una muy querida amiga me estaba enseñando a trabajar en Patchwork, en esa ocasión estábamos preparando los arreglos para diciembre y yo quise hacer un cojín en forma de flor de navidad, así que ello me dijo que realizara el boceto en cartulina y enumerara cada pieza y así lo hice, luego comencé a unir y como ven, no sé si la costura estaba muy apretada o muy floja, lo cierto es que frustré y lo mandé al baúl del olvido.

A few years ago a very dear friend was teaching me to work in Patchwork, on that occasion we were preparing the arrangements for December and I wanted to make a cushion in the shape of a Christmas flower, so she told me to make the sketch on cardboard and number each piece and so I did, then I began to join and as you see, I do not know if the seam was too tight or too loose, the truth is that I frustrated and sent it to the trunk of oblivion.

Mas esta semana cuando estaba arreglando el espacio donde tengo mis cosas, me encontré con una caja de retacitos de tela que iban quedando de otras labores, así que me sentí inspirada para ponerme una nueva meta: “usar todos esos retazos” y como ya mi bolsa de llevar mis libros y carpetas a clase está pidiendo auxilio, tengo ya mi primer proyecto en mente, una bolsa con retazos de tela.

Como parte de este nuevo proyecto, recordé cuanto me encantan los molinos de viento y me dije –comienza por ello, así que para darle un toque especial a mi nueva bolsa, decidí aprender a realizar estos molinos de vientos con mis retazos de tela.

As part of this new project, I remembered how much I love windmills and I said to myself - start with that, so to give my new bag a special touch, I decided to learn how to make these windmills with my fabric scraps.

Para este proyecto planifiqué realizar 4 molinos, para ello escogí hacerlo con retazos de la tela, de 5 cm cuadrados, para la base usé retazos de una cortina en color crema y para las palas tomé un retacito de tela roja que no sé “🤔🤔 “ de que quedó y otro morado de un vestido que me realicé el año pasado. Para la base antes de córtalos le coloqué entre tela adhesiva para darle firmeza y luego marqué los cuadrados encada tela y corté 16 en color crema y 8 en cada color.

For this project I planned to make 4 windmills, for this I chose to do it with scraps of fabric, 5 cm square, for the base I used scraps of a curtain in cream color and for the paddles I took a small piece of red fabric that I don't know "🤔🤔" what it looked like and another purple one from a dress that I made last year. For the base, before cutting them out, I put some adhesive fabric between them to give them firmness and then I marked the squares on each fabric and cut them 16 in cream and 8 in each color.

Paso 1 Al tener mis cuadrados listos comencé a armar las palas de mi molino, para ello doblamos la tela de color rojo o morado de manera diagonal sobre el cuadrado crema, nos quedará en forma de triángulo; luego doblamos una de las esquina sobre sí misma en sentido del centro del triángulo y procedemos a coser por la orilla desde el doblez hacia la esquina y de allí hasta el otro extremo del cuadrado de color.

Al culminar de coser todas las palas, sentí curiosidad y ver como quedarían mejores mis molinos, si todas las palas del mismo color o darle un toque de creatividad por lo que decidí lo segundo, combinar los colores.

When I finished sewing all the blades, I was curious to see how my windmills would look better, if all the blades were the same color or to give them a touch of creativity, so I decided to combine the colors.

Paso 2 Para comenzar a armar los bujes del molino necesite dos palas de cada color de manera que crearan contrastes entre ellas, primero cosí las parejas y luego comencé a armar el buje; que creen cuando cosí mis dos primeras ambas las había cosido de la misma manera, por lo que me tocó armar otra pareja y de allí estar muy pendiente, que ambas parejas no quedaran cosidas en el mismo sentido; y ya solucionado el pequeño enredo proseguí a coser ambas parejas y así terminar mi primer buje.

Step 2 To begin to assemble the mill bushings I needed two blades of each color to create contrasts between them, first I sewed the pairs and then I began to assemble the bushing; they believe that when I sewed my first two I had sewn them both in the same way, so I had to assemble another pair and then I had to be very careful that both pairs were not sewn in the same direction; and once the little tangle was solved I continued to sew both pairs and thus finish my first bushing.

Paso 3 A medida que vamos armando nuestros bujes, los vamos cociendo por un extremo, yo los quiero lineal así que fui cociendo uno al lado del otro, más si lo quieren en cuadro, se cocerían tal como cocimos nuestras palas. Como les dije al principio esta línea de molinos es para una bolsa y allí les presento como sería, pero es para otro blog.

Step 3 As we are assembling our bushings, we sew them at one end, I want them linear so I sewed them side by side, but if you want them in a square, they will be sewn just as we sew our paddles. As I told you at the beginning this line of mills is for a bag and there I present how it would be, but it is for another blog.

Cuando comencé a unir mis tiras, vi que mis bujes del molino les faltaba algo y saben que era el anillo de anclaje, para ello busqué entre mis botones y conseguí unos que le quedaban perfectos, así lucen mis molinos de vientos, luego en lo que termine mi bolsa les mostraré como luce.

When I started to join my strips, I saw that my windmill bushings were missing something and you know it was the anchor ring, for that I searched among my buttons and got some that fit perfectly, this is what my windmills look like, then when I finish my bag I will show you how it looks like.
