Hola lectores amantes de los animales, hoy les traigo una actualización del crecimiento de mis conejos que están por cumplir 1 mes y se encuentran cada vez más hermosos y saludables.

No todos son buenas noticias, lamentablemente su madre ha fallecido a causa de inanición. Por dos días dejó de comer y beber sus alimentos, por lo que tuvimos que colocarla en una jaula contigua a los conejos para asistirla, disolviendo el alimento especial para conejos y facilitándole algunas hierbas. Posteriormente, intentamos darle comida directamente a la boca, pero a pesar de nuestros esfuerzos, falleció.

Not all is good news, unfortunately her mother has passed away due to starvation. For two days she stopped eating and drinking her food, so we had to put her in a cage next to the rabbits to assist her, dissolving the special food for rabbits and giving her some herbs. Subsequently, we tried to feed her directly into her mouth, but despite our efforts, she passed away.

Para adecuar el espacio para los conejos, reemplazamos el envase de alimento por uno más bajo, facilitando su acceso. Por otro lado, hemos estado vigilantes de su comportamiento, que suele ser bastante cambiante, pero se ha caracterizado por:
- Aumento de la actividad: se ven bastante enérgicos. Cuando abro la jaula, inmediatamente se acercan o se alejan de mí.

- Aumento de la alimentación: ya que ya no tienen acceso a la leche materna. Ahora muestran una mayor curiosidad hacia los alimentos sólidos y vemos cómo quieren mordisquear todo.
- Salen un poco a explorar fuera del nido y pasan más tiempo en los espacios alrededor de la jaula.

To adapt the space for the rabbits, we replaced the food container with a lower one, facilitating their access. On the other hand, we have been vigilant of their behavior, which is usually quite changeable, but has been characterized by:
- Increased activity: they look quite energetic. When I open the cage, they immediately move towards or away from me.
- Increased feeding: since they no longer have access to mother's milk. They now show more curiosity towards solid food and we see how they want to nibble on everything.
- They go out a bit to explore outside the nest and spend more time in the spaces around the cage.
Con mi papá estuve consultando el tema de las vacunas con un veterinario local, y nos indicó que se les administra a los 2 meses, lo cual nos dejó un poco aliviados. Es importante que si alguien de otro país posee un animal como este, consulte directamente con un especialista respecto a los cuidados y protocolos de vacunación, ya que esto dependerá de factores climáticos de cada región y disponibilidad de vacunas para conejos.

My dad and I consulted with a local veterinarian about vaccinations, and he indicated that they are administered at 2 months of age, which left us a little relieved. It is important that if someone from another country has an animal like this, to consult directly with a specialist regarding care and vaccination protocols, as this will depend on climatic factors of each region and availability of vaccines for rabbits.

Lo importante es que tengan en cuenta que son animales frágiles pero muy sociables; si se les realiza una exposición constante pero controlada con el entorno donde habitarán; nosotros en este caso les brindamos un poco más de cariño por la pérdida de su madre. Personalmente, les hablo y los acaricio con suavidad, evitando tocar su nariz y orejas, ya que son muy sensibles, y siempre mantengo mis manos secas y limpias para evitar complicaciones.

Personalmente, les hablo y los acaricio con suavidad, evitando tocar su nariz y orejas, ya que son muy sensibles, y siempre mantengo mis manos secas y limpias para evitar complicaciones.
Una de las complicaciones más comunes cuando no se tiene el higiene adecuado es la sarna, una enfermedad zoonótica (de fácil transmisión a humanos) que se produce gracias a un ácaro en la piel. En el caso de los conejos, provoca picor y pérdida considerable de su pelaje, por lo que insisto en vigilarlos con atención y llevarlos al veterinario ante cualquier comportamiento extraño, él sabrá indicarles la medicación necesaria.
