SMAP 242 - An Unusual Pet

Hello Feathered Friends Community. Let's welcome Round 242 of the Show Me A Photo Contest or SMAP hosted by @nelinoeva. Check out the link to this contest here. Do read up and join in the fun, if you still haven't.

The theme for this week is:

URBAN BIRDS

This feathered creature is so popular here in our place that it can be seen even in the unlikeliest of places. I was parked along a subdivision road beside a house that was fenced half concrete and half steel bars. It had the usual display of plants lined along the top part of the fence but I didn't expect to see this.

Now what would a cock be doing here all by his lonesome? Is he some sort of a pet like those parakeets and parrots? It suddenly moved.

It probably sensed me taking photos of him. He took a look at me.

The owner passed by and he looked a bit old to be having this cock as his pet. You know, some people have pet turtles or pet dogs, cats or even pet pigs. But would you have a rooster for a pet?

Only reason for people to have cocks as pets here in our place is to join cock fights. It's illegal here but is still so popular that people risk being jailed to indulge in this sport, if you can call it that. Oh well to each his own.

My entry is the last photo.

That is unusual pet, but like you say they may use it illegally to fight.
