Your Grandmother loved being independent. It is good that your country as manage to reduce the biased between men and women and each gender treated equally.
No, i have never made a call with a dial phone and i wouldn't say i miss the unique sound since i didn't use it but it is fascinating that years ago only few house had this but now almost everyone has a mobile phone.
