Saludos hivers y bienvenidos a mi blog. Hay un dicho que dice que todas las cosas pasan por algo y así me pasó a mí la semana pasada. Esa mañana tenía que salir a hacer varias cosas, había decidido ir primero a los lugares que están más lejos y dejar de último lo que tenía que hacer cerca de mi casa, sin embargo, cuando ya estaba saliendo de mi edificio y había dado unos pasos en la calle, de repente cambié de opinión.

That morning I had to go out to do several things, I had decided to go first to the places that are furthest away and leave for last what I had to do near my house, however, when I was already leaving my building and had taken a few steps on the street, I suddenly changed my mind.

Cuando llegué a la calle donde vive Dylan él estaba sentado afuera, lo saludé y fuí a tocar el timbre del apartamento de los cuidadores de Dylan para entregarles la comida, mientras esperaba en la acera de frente, un señor de una de las casas me hace señas para que me acerque y me dice si le tengo miedo a los animales, su pregunta me extrañó y le dije que no, que me gustaban todos los animales, entonces me dijo que fuera a ver lo que estaba ahí.

No me había acercado totalmente y ya sabía lo que era, un murciélago 🦇😳, pero ¿Cómo? ¿Qué hacía un murciélago a plena luz del día, (eran las 11 de la mañana), en la acera de una calle? El señor me dió un pedazo de cartón, me agaché para revisar si este amiguito estaba bien, el pobrecito parecía asustado y se acurrucaba cuando lo tocaba con el cartón.

I hadn't gotten completely close and I already knew what it was, a bat 🦇😳, but how? What was a bat doing in broad daylight, (it was 11 AM), on the sidewalk of a street? The man gave me a piece of cardboard, I bent down to check if this little friend was okay, the poor little guy seemed scared and curled up when I touched him with the cardboard.

El muchacho que me cuida al perro me prestó una cajita, usando el cartón levanté poco a poco al murciélago, lo metí en la caja y me fui a mi casa, la planificación que había hecho quedó cancelada jajaja.

Pensé en llevarlo a mi casa pero como tenemos dos gatas preferí subirlo a la terraza y meterlo en el salón de fiesta del edificio, es un lugar tranquilo, fresco y nadie puede entrar porque sólo yo tengo la llave ya que soy la presidenta de la junta de condominio 🔑😼, de todas maneras las pocas veces que sube gente a la terraza lo hacen para colgar ropa así que a nadie le interesa entrar al salón de fiesta jajaja 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I thought about taking him to my house but since we have two cats I preferred to take him up to the terrace and put him in the party living room of the building, it's a quiet, cool place and no one can enter because I'm the only who has the key since I am the president of the condominium board 🔑😼, anyway, the few times people go up to the terrace they do it to hang clothes so no one is interested in entering the party room hahaha 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Adentro del salón sólo hay dos mesas y algunas otras cosas de uso común para las fiestas o reuniones, entre esas cosas hay una bandeja para poner carbón y una reja de parrilla así que pensé que sería buena idea meter a mi amiguito ahí, no quise sacarlo de la caja para no molestarlo así que metí la caja en la bandeja y la tapé con la reja de la parrilla.

Inside the room there are only two tables and some other things that all of us who live in the building can use at the parties or meetings, among those things there is a tray to put charcoal and a grill so I thought it would be a good idea to put my little friend in there, I didn't want to take him out of the box so as not to disturb him so I put the box on the tray and covered it with the grill grate.

Después de meterlo ahí bajé a mi casa a buscar algo para ponerle agua, sé que los murciélagos no hacen nada durante el día pero como está haciendo tanto calor preferí ser precavida y dejarle agua por si acaso le daba sed.

After putting him there I went down to my house to look for something to put water in it, I know that bats don't do anything during the day but since it's so hot I preferred to be cautious and leave him water just in case he got thirsty.

A las 6:30 de la tarde subí a la terraza para hacer mi rutina de QiGong y después liberar a mi amiguito murciélago 🦇. Cuando entré al salón estaba tranquilo, parece que se había movido algo porque se había derramado un poquito del agua que le dejé. Levanté la reja de la parrilla, agarré la cajita y salí hacia la terraza.

At 6:30 in the afternoon I went up to the terrace to do my QiGong routine and then release my little bat friend 🦇. Me puse en el medio de la terraza, en esta época del año oscurece como a las 7 de la noche así que ya se acercaba el momento en que los murciélagos empiezan a activarse. El primer paso era sacarlo de la caja, parecía una tarea fácil pero déjenme decirles que me llevó casi veinte minutos poder sacarlo de ahí 🥴😬😂. Se había aferrado al cartón con una de sus patitas de atrás de tal manera que tuve que tener paciencia y astucia para lograr que se soltara 🥴 jajaja.

I stood in the middle of the terrace, at this time of the year it gets dark around 7 pm, so the moment when the bats start to become active was approaching. The first step was to take him out of the box, it seemed like an easy task but let me tell you that it took me almost twenty minutes to get him out of there 🥴😬😂. He had clung to the cardboard with one of his back legs in such a way that I had to be patient and clever to get him out of there 🥴 hahaha.

Los murciélagos pertenecen al orden de los Chiróptera, animales cuyas extremidades se desarrollaron como alas, esta palabra viene de los términos griegos χείρ [cheir], 'mano' y φτερό [pteron], 'ala', por otro lado, la palabra murciélago proviene del castellano antiguo mur cego o 'ratón ciego'. Los murciélagos son los únicos miembros de este orden y representan el 20% del total de mamíferos del planeta.

Usé un palito delgado para tratar de empujarlo suavemente hacia el centro de la caja pero no funcionó, traté de levantarlo con mi mano pero no se soltaba, usé una llave para despegar los dedos de su pata del cartón pero cuando terminé se aferró al cartón con la otra pata 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️🤣, empecé a acariciarlo y noté que le daba como cosquillas y levantaba las patas 🤭, así que pensé que había encontrado la clave para sacarlo de la caja, seguí acariciándole el lomo y con la llave le fuí levantando uno a uno los dedos hasta que finalmente y después de fallar varias veces logré arrimarlo hasta el centro de la caja y con cuidado lo agarré y lo puse en el piso de la terraza 🥵.

I used a thin stick to try to gently push him towards the center of the box but it didn't work, I tried to lift him with my hand but I couldn't take him out, I used a key to unstick the toes of his paw from the cardboard but when I ended up he clinged to the cardboard with the other paw 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️🤣, I started to pet him and I noticed that it tickled him and he raised his paws 🤭, so I thought I had found the secret to get him out of the box, I continued petting his back and with a key I lifted the fingers one by one until finally, and after failing several times, I managed to get him to the center of the box and carefully grabbed him and placed him on the floor of the terrace 🥵.

Ya eran las 7:30 de la noche y estaba oscuro, en la terraza no hay luz, osea, si hay, pero no hemos puesto bombillos, en todo caso, aunque estuvieran los bombillos no hubiese servido de mucho porque cuando miré hacia el pasillo me dí cuenta que se había ido la electricidad 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣, estaba tan concentrada con el murciélago que ni lo había notado jajaja. De todas maneras, para que mi amiguito se fuera volando yo no necesitaba la luz sino la oscuridad 😉. Obviamente tuve que usar flash para hacer estas fotos porque no se veía nada jajaja.

It was already 7:30 pm and it was dark, there is no light on the terrace, I mean, there is, but we have not put in light bulbs, in any case, even if the light bulbs were there it won't have been of much use because when I looked towards the hallway I realized that there was no electricity 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣, I was so focused on the bat that I hadn't even noticed it hahaha. Anyway, for my little friend to fly away I didn't need light but darkness 😉. Obviously I had to use flash to take these photos because nothing could be seen hahaha.

Busqué en internet para tratar de identificar a este amiguito pero hay tantas especies de murciélagos y muchas de ellas tan parecidas entre sí que al final no sabría decir con exactitud a cuál pertenece 🥴, quizás sea un Tadarida brasiliensis (conocido también como murciélago cola de ratón), uno de la familia de los Eumops, un Molossus molossus o un Nyctinomops macrotis o cola de ratón grande 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ / I searched the internet to try to identify this little friend but there are so many species of bats and many of them so similar to each other that in the end I couldn't say exactly which one he belongs to 🥴, maybe it's a Tadarida brasiliensis (also known as a mouse-tailed bat), one of the Eumops family, a Molossus molossus or a Nyctinomops macrotis or large mouse tail 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

Así que allí estaba yo, en la terraza del edificio durante una oscura noche sin electricidad y acompañada de un murciélago 🦇 jejeje, me sentía como en Ciudad Gótica 🖤, ¿Suena tenebroso, verdad? Jmmm, quizás para algunos, pero no para Gatubela 😼, yo, jejeje, después de todo, ¿Qué mejor compañía para Gatubela que Batman 🦇? 😼🤭

So there I was, on the terrace of the building during a dark night without electricity and accompanied by a bat 🦇 hehehe, I felt like I was in Gotham City 🖤. Sounds scary, right? Hmmm, maybe for some, but not for Catwoman (Gatubela) 😼, me, after all, what better company for Catwoman than Batman 🦇? 😼🤭

Pensé que al sacarlo de la caja saldría volando pero no fue así, creo que aún no se sentía preparado pero yo sí que estaba más que preparada para seguir tomándole fotos a este fascinante volador de la oscuridad así que me acosté en el piso y disfruté cada toma 📸, tanto como los zancudos trataban de disfrutar y aprovecharse de mi cuerpo 🦟🥴, afortunadamente había una fuerte y agradable brisa que ayudaba a dispersarlos un poquito jajaja.

I thought that when I took him out of the box he would fly away but he didn't, I think he didn't feel ready yet, but I was more than ready to continue taking photos of this fascinating flyer of the darkness, so I lay on the floor and enjoyed every shot 📸, as much as the mosquitoes tried to enjoy and take advantage of my body 🦟🥴, fortunately there was a strong and pleasant breeze that helped disperse them a little hahaha.

Este no es mi primer encuentro cercano con un murciélago sino el segundo, hace muchos años durante una fuerte tormenta nocturna cayó uno en el balcón de nuestro apartamento, estaba todo mojado y parecía algo mareado así que lo metimos en una caja de zapatos y lo soltamos al día siguiente cuando ya estaba oscuro, fue emocionante verlo irse volando 🦇☺️.

This is not my first close encounter with a bat but the second, many years ago during a strong night storm one fell on the balcony of our apartment, it was all wet and seemed a little dizzy so we put it in a shoe box and released it the next day when it was already dark, it was exciting to see it fly away 🦇☺️.

A pesar de los mitos y leyendas que se han creado a su alrededor, los murciélagos son animales muy interesantes y útiles, no sólo porque son los únicos mamíferos que pueden volar sino también porque hacen un extraordinario trabajo de polinización, contribuyen a mantener las plagas bajo control y ayudan a diseminar millones de semillas. Su presencia en una ciudad o área indica que en ese lugar hay baja contaminación y es por eso que en los lugares donde hay mucha contaminación no suele haber murciélagos puesto que son bastante vulnerables a las sustancias tóxicas.

Recordando mi anterior experiencia con un murciélago, tenía que ubicarlo en un lugar alto para que se fuera, así que agarré a este amiguito con el cartón y lo puse en uno de los muros que rodean a la terraza, elegí el que tiene vista hacia la plaza del centro de la ciudad, es un buen lugar para despegar jejeje.

Remembering my previous experience with a bat, I had to place him in a high place so that he could go away, so I grabbed this little friend with the cardboard and put him on one of the walls that surround the terrace, I chose the one that has a view of the plaza in the center of the city, it's a good place to take off hehehe.

Apenas lo puse en el muro empezó a mirar de un lado a otro como sintiendo la frescura de la brisa y también dió unos pasos, le eché un poquito de agua pero al parecer no tenía sed. Antes de eso orinó y dejó un pequeño regalito en el muro 🤭💩.

El murciélago empezó a ponerse más activo así que pensé que había llegado el momento y apagué el flash de mi teléfono para que estuviese totalmente oscuro, caminó de un lado a otro regalándome unas interesantes tomas de su figura en sombra, pero de repente giró hacia mí como queriendo más fotos jajaja así que encendí el flash y le hice unas fotos, me agaché para poder verlo desde una posición diferente, desde abajo.

The bat began to get more active so I thought the time had come and I turned off the flash on my phone so that it was completely dark, he walked from one side to the other giving me some interesting shots of his shadowy figure, but suddenly he turned towards me like he wanted more photos hahaha so I turned on the flash and took some photos, I crouched down so I could see him from a different position, from below.

Volví a apagar el flash y ahora sí, mi amiguito empezó a hacer los típicos chillidos que hacen los murciélagos cuando están volando, se movía con más determinación y estiraba sus alas, caminó hasta la orilla del muro y luego de observar a su alrededor y emitir más chillidos, finalmente voló 😃, dio unas vueltas cerca de ahí y se alejó. Misión cumplida 👍🏻.

I turned off the flash again and now, my little friend began to make the typical screeches that bats make when they are flying, he moved with more determination and stretched his wings, he walked to the edge of the wall and after looking around and emitting more screeching, finally he flew away 😃, circled around nearby and flew away. Mission accomplished 👍🏻.

Mientras investigaba para hacer esta publicación leí que encontrar un murciélago tirado en la calle durante el día puede ser indicativo de que tenga el virus de la rabia 🙀😬. De todas maneras yo ya sabía de antemano que pueden transmitir el virus así que lo manipulé como si lo tuviese.

Bueno, no se si este murciélago tenía o no rabia, no presentaba los síntomas característicos (caminar desorientado, emitir ruidos extraños, babeo y espuma en la boca y dificultad para volar), se veía sano y muy activo, la mayor parte del tiempo lo manipulé usando un cartón, cuando bajé a mi casa me lavé tres veces las manos con bastante jabón y me eché alcohol y también desinfecté mi celular. Aunque hubiese sabido esto antes de rescatarlo igual lo hubiese rescatado.

Well, I don't know if this bat had rabies or not, he didn't have the characteristic symptoms (walking disoriented, making strange noises, drooling and foaming at the mouth and not being able to fly), he looked healthy and very active. Most of the time I handled him using a cardboard and when I went to my house I washed my hands three times with plenty of soap and I used alcohol and I also disinfected my cell phone. Even if I had known this before rescuing him, I still would have rescued him.

Ah, por cierto, se me había olvidado un pequeño detalle 🤭. ¿Recuerdan que les dije que ¿qué mejor compañía para Gatubela durante una noche oscura que estar junto a Batman 🦇? Bueno, poco antes de que se fuera volando, descubrí que mi acompañante no era Batman sino Batichica 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣.

Oh, by the way, I had forgotten a small detail 🤭. Remember how I told you that, what better company for Catwoman (Gatubela) during a dark night than to be with Batman 🦇? Well, shortly before he flew away, I discovered that my companion was not Batman but Batgirl 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣.

Bueno amigos, a pesar de la mala fama que siempre ha rodeado a los murciélagos, en su mayoría basada en la ignorancia y el desconocimiento de las personas, los murciélagos son animales muy útiles para el ser humano y es de vital importancia ayudar a preservarlos. Sin murciélagos las plagas acabarían con los cultivos y los mosquitos acabarían con nosotros. Simplemente debemos tener cuidado y ser precavidos, vacunar a nuestras mascotas contra la rabia 🐱🐶💉, y si nuestro trabajo nos obliga a estar en constante contacto con ellos pues también tenemos que vacunarnos.

Well friends, despite the bad reputation that has always surrounded bats, mostly based on people's ignorance and lack of knowledge, bats are very useful animals for humans and it's vitally important to help preserve them. Without bats, pests would destroy crops and mosquitoes would destroy us. Como dije al principio, todo pasa por algo y la misión que el universo tenía para mí ese día no era ir a hacer mis cosas sino rescatar a este murciélago 🦇 🤷🏻‍♀️. Mis encuentros con animales son siempre fascinantes y muy variados, me pregunto qué animal será el próximo que vendrá a mí 🤔 ¿Quizás un cunaguaro, un búho, una guacamaya?
