Losing Motivation in Photography and Finding a New Spark in Programming
Hey!
It has been a challenging journey for me lately, as I've found myself losing motivation in photography, which has been a passion of mine for many years. I felt like I had reached a creative block, and I didn't know how to break out of it.
Throughout my life, I've dabbled with various programming languages, but I never learned much because it was always so difficult for me. I would always lose interest sooner or later. But, as life often goes, things took an unexpected turn, and I found myself drawn to the world of programming and artificial intelligence.
It all started when I first met the predecessor of ChatGPT, the GPT3. During my conversation with GPT3, I asked it to create a Python app to show whether a sentence is a tautology or not. The resulting code wasn't actually runnable, but it convinced the bot about something it had said about women, that was actually a tautology. This was the moment that sparked my interest in programming, and I knew that I had to dive deeper into this fascinating field.
One of the first projects I tackled was creating a script to collect and count comments on the Hive blockchain post. As someone who has been using the Hive blockchain since 2016, it was familiar territory for me, and I was able to apply my newly acquired programming skills to solve a real-world problem. From there, I moved on to writing a script that counts the amounts of HIVE, HBD, and HP received on a given time frame. This project has been particularly rewarding, as I am able to use my programming skills to both "scratch my own itch", and hopefully will be able to help others in the Hive community as well.

Throughout this process, I've found that programming has given me a new boost of creativity and motivation. I've discovered a sense of purpose in creating something new and seeing the results of my hard work. This has been a welcome change from the feelings of frustration and boredom I was experiencing with my photography.
That being said, I still struggle with motivational issues, but I've found new energy from creating things that I didn't have earlier. I feel like I owe much of this positive energy to our two loving dogs @Ninnu and Muffin, who give me walks every day and keep me active, the game of Go, which I started playing again after a long break due to the Covid19 epidemic, to artificial intelligence like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusions, and to the Hive community for providing a familiar outlet for my creativity.
Looking to the future, I can't predict what will happen or how long it will take, but I wouldn't be surprised if my motivation in photography returns at some point. Photography has been a passion of mine for many years, and I still love it deeply. I just don't know when that spark will reignite, but I'm open to the possibility and excited to see where my journey will take me next.
In conclusion, my journey from photography to programming has been a rollercoaster ride, full of ups and downs. But through it all, I've found that there is always something new to learn and explore, and that this sense of discovery can provide a much-needed boost of energy and motivation. Whether it's through photography, programming, or something else entirely, I believe that finding our passions and pursuing them with all our heart is the key to living a fulfilling life.
