Twilight

The past is the beginning of the beginning and all that is and has been is but the twilight of the dawn.

JET (6).png

It had been a beautiful autumn day, warm and cloudless. I'd run errands for most of it, nothing exciting, just grocery shopping, banking and a trip to the hardware store with some sushi in the middle for lunch. I'd decided to take a walk on the beach and, as so often happens, I took my camera in the hope that I'd find some colour in the sunset or, at the very least, something interesting to photograph. The photos in this post are the result.

The image directly above was one of the last I captured. I'd moved off the beach, walking on the coastal path, and saw this fellow with a way better set up than I have and decided to see if I could get a shot of him silhouetted against the sky. Unfortunately, to get the best angle on him I'd have had to wander into the dunes which isn't permitted as they're trying to regenerate coastal plants to combat erosion so this image is as good as it was going to get. It delivers the message though I guess. Below are some of the other shots.

JET (1).png

The tide was quite high and the beach was covered in piles of seaweed which is a little unusual so I didn't end up taking any shots from the sand at all; it was still late afternoon anyway so there wasn't a lot of colour in the sky initially.

I walked for over ninety minutes then wandered up onto the jetty (pier) to see if I could capture something worth sharing; the results are below. Please note, two of them are a little similar although I liked the light and shadow in both so decided to include them despite each being a shot of the same thing.

I had a nice walk and was pleased with the photo results I got in the early-twilight. I ended up with fifty nine images and have only selected a few for this post. I'll share some of the others as time goes by. Thanks for taking a scroll through the images and, as always, if you have any comments don't hesitate to drop them into the comment section below.

Nice shots. I'm a bit jealous that you can just 'decide' to take a walk on the beach though. I take way too many photos, so trying to pick between similar shots is always fun.

Do y'all have a huge seaweed belt headed your way too?

Thanks mate, I live close to the beach so it's really easy to get there pretty much whenever I like. It's cool really as across the road to the east is a huge conservation park where I can hike many kilometres of trails and to the west is the beach. Not a bad situation.

Oh no, it's nothing like seaweed blobs, it's just that if the sea is angry enough it breaks off from time to time and gets deposited. It's not a massive amount, really, just that it doesn't look all that great in photos. The tide was up too so there wasn't the expanse of beach and captured pools of water I'd normally have to work with.

Florida looks like it's in for some seaweed infestations though, It's good to eat apparently, so I hope they're hungry.

That's a sweet setup you've got there.

Ah, I gotcha. Do you get jellyfish down that way? Most of my beach time has been on the Atlantic coast down in the southern US and those unpleasant bastards were always in the water and washing up on shore. Made going barefoot in the sand a bit treacherous.

I'm pretty sure that Florida is just the long lost tenth circle of hell, I'm afraid seaweed is the least of their problems. My partner was actually eating some just the other day but I gave it a pass, too many tasty things in the sea to waste time fooling with that.

We do have jellyfish down in my part of Australia but not the deadly ones like Irukandji which is a more tropical thing found across the top end of the country. One doesn't want to get tangled up with one of those. Of course, they have crocs too, so it's a double whammy. Some idiot got bit the other day actually, was sleeping on the beach. Dumbass. He didn't die though, miraculously.

I think Florida has similar issue to the above right?

Why eat seaweed when there's prawns, lobster and other tasty treats from the sea huh?

Twilight, the highlight of the day. I love the way the sun embraces us before it kisses us goodnight.

You sure give that camera a good workout. Sweet shots ! I especially like the long shot down the pier and the requisite fishermen/woman on the pier. Real life !

Hi, Galen!

Hello my Swigly one!

I've taken a moment away from making ammunition to respond. I hope you're well and happy.

My camera gets a workout for sure, I even have some reloading images for a post over the weekend. 😊

I love nature, as you know, and her sunsets are one of the great splendours nature provides us. Thanks planet. I had a nice walk and like the images I got on the pier. It was a good time, although I didn't get a bloody ice cream! Next time.

I am so honored. Reloading is mechanically motivated and any stoppage puts me behind. Kidding, but, the disruption can be hazardous to me starting up again. It has been a perfect day, the sun shining and mother nature putting out some new blooms.

That will be a pretty awesome post with the reloading process. I learned how to do it to prove I could, plus all the ammo would be paid for - if it was reloaded.

I know you and nature are besties, I understand! I love the water, and I am partial to salt - and if it swims for a living, I'll make it dinner. :)

No ice cream?? Who was in charge there?

It's enjoyably repetitive. I do it all manually: Manual powder thrower, beam scales, trickler and tweezers to get powder measurements precise. I reload rifle ammunition for precision, accuracy and consistency in standard deviation of muzzle velocity. Long range shooting isn't possible without the right ammunition and factory loads can't match handloads. Of course, handgun ammunition doesn't have to be that precise so I use a progressive reloader. Anyway, enough about that. (I know you know how to reload and I'm glad, it may become a very important skill someday.)

No bloody ice cream indeed! The problem was that I was in charge and so I've got myself to blame. (I try to eat well and maintain my fitness and physique so...no damned ice cream. (Sad really.)

It's a rather splendid time right? I never really know how to explain how I feel in these moments; soulful? Hmm, maybe that's not the right word. There's probably not a single word to describe it. Maybe I'll write a post and see if a thousand words can.

Especially, if you're watching it over the ocean (though a mountain view can be quite serene, too). My sunrises when at the Outer Banks, NC are such a wonderful time of tranquility, quiet, hope, fullness (emotionally 😄), thoughts, meditation, awakening, being small among it all... You are right, too many words to describe it. And I have to go to work now.

All of nature is serene, although it sometimes gets in a bad mood and sitting on the side of a volcano as its erupting might be problematic.

I hope work went well. The weekend isn't far off, I hope you have a good one.

Hahaha - the thing is that as scary and destructive as an eruptive volcano is (thankfully, I don't know any firsthand) it is still magnificent.

Here's to the weekend! Only ~ 8 hours to go... Oh, got to check out the WE topics

I reckon I'd risk it for the splendour of it all; seeing a volcano erupting up close would be pretty cool.

I'll be releasing the WE topics in about 11 hours and there's all weekend to get involved if you want to. :)

Watch out man, you could end up in some parallel universe where being a gamer instead of a real man in the real world is legit.

(Nah, no universe is that fucked up.)

I prefer the game of life. Just like you do.

My weapon of choice,

chainsaw.

top-chainsaw-memes.jpg

Been running them every day for a week now. My load cancelled and I been getting shit done bro... In the real 3D world.

One must have a chainsaw bro, it is known.

Cancelled load? Hopefully not right at the last minute, that would suck. Never mind though, you got to chainsaw and that's always a good day.

Kinda last minute. Last day type scenario. Things are 2009 bad right now. Loads worth hauling (profit) are on the good ol boy network (broker is a friend or family) or a week out.

Production (supply chain) issues with what I am hauling. Reefer units (deli cases) can not be built as they are waiting on parts and supplies.

Catch 22 is if I go haul something else. I may lose my spot hauling these. So chainsaw (yard work) it is.

Just got the call a few minutes ago. Back on a layover for Mon/Tues/Wed. A three-fer. And thunder ⚡⛈️ here. So nap time it is...

Soon you will be this old, and nap you will... LoL

Hug Cleo and pet your girl person. It is the KrazzyTrukker way. 👍

It's bonkers how people just don't see what's going on. Choice or idiocy? I'm not sure. Maybe it's just easier for people to stick their heads in the sand and pretend it's all going to be ok.

It's weird though.

Sometimes we have gaps in the shelves at the supermarkets and people just adapt and buy something else. Questions aren't raised, it just slips under the radar. It's for the reasons you mention that there's no garlic bread in the shelf. I say garlic bread because ainwent to three different supermarkets last week to find some and was unable to. It's just fucken weird, there's usually an abundance of 4-6 different brands. A small example only, but it makes my point.

Supply chains are breaking whether ambient or cold and people just go about as if everything is all ok. When there's nothing on the shelves maybe they'll start to wake up?

Those who don't adapt to the changes quickly enough, or so no preparation, will fall hard. Most will fall though, societal breakdown is like that.

Fifty-nine image is a bigger number. Haha. You did very well.

I have to admit, I love the first photograph. It is beautiful and calming. It reminds me of nature and the life we are living. There is light and darkness in the picture which tells how life is. Good and bad.

What a beauty of shots of your beautiful country, definitely the rising sun or at its sunset invites us to live the life that even with its sorrows, adversities that occur in everyday life invite us to introspection and continue enjoying the road.

Thank you for allowing me to walk among the dunes next to you with great care to take out the majesty of these postcards, Galen, infinite thanks I give to life for admiring our planet in this way through these wonderful photographs.🌞

Australia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with great natural diversity. I'm glad I was born here and have it all within reach. It's vast though, and even at my age, and the amount of travel I do, I've not seen it all.

It is beautiful whenever I can, I get to know Australia through documentaries and of course through you Galen, who is better than you to show how big, majestic, and rich in its nature is your beautiful country. Infinite, thanks.

This blue planet has creation and wealth in abundance everywhere.😎🤗

I fell in love with the second picture, I kept looking at it for a long time, it's beautiful. I lost myself in it. You captured that sun in an incredible way and you said I was going to get bored, quite the opposite.

Thank you very much @galenkp.❤️

Yep, that second one is pretty good huh? I like that one also. I like how the planks of the pier show some texture and the way the shadow and light brings each to life. The way the sun picks up on the coach screws heading away down the pier looks good too. I got lucky with this one.

It's not luck, it's that you were at the right moment and you are a good photographer and they turned out beautifully.

Yesterday I went to a mountain to be far away from the city, pure nature, no people, I'll show you some of the pictures I took, more than 100.

Lol, well 100 is far too many for a post. 10 would be better. I wrote a post tonight (for Saturday) that has 13 or 14. I made two collages out of most of them though. It presents the images but people doing need to scroll too much. I'm sure you'll work it out.
