Snuggling with Cleopatra

+i--=iutEEs.jpg

Having to travel for work seems so cool, exiting and fun but the reality is usually none of those things; sure, the first few times travelling in business class and with a company expense card, staying in great hotels and in new locations is good but the novelty soon wears off.

Eventually one realises that travelling for work means the company expects greater output to account for the additional costs and that the comforts of home are a long way off and it all starts to lose its shine until it becomes little more than a mundane chore.

Well, sort of; there's still some good aspects to it but it starts to wear thin after doing it over and over again and the excitement goes away - just another day at the "office," albeit it a different location.

I miss my own bed, the way I know my way around my house with the lights off, the comfort of having my things around me, scent of the flowers my girlfriend grows and brings inside, items that I've collected over my life and which make me feel at ease, and I miss my girlfriend and Cleopatra. "Cleo."

I'm travelling for work currently, I'm typing this late in the evening after travelling and working all day then returning to my hotel for a shower, room service dinner and to work some more. Dinner was very nice, I have a glass of red wine beside me and some music in the background, but it's not home and there's two girls missing...the two girls that make wherever I am feel like home - as long as they are with me.

The night before I left for this trip Cleo came up onto the bed to snuggle which isn't unusual. I wrapped her up in "her blanket" given to her by a friend, and she settled in right next to me which is when I took the image you see above. Looking at it now makes me feel happy because she's so damned cute and cuddly but also sad that I'm not there right now in my comfortable home with my two girls.

I've got five days left in this work trip and I can hardly wait to get home. I'll have a gift for my girlfriend, I always return home with something for her, and I'll have some snuggles to catch up on with her and Cleo, they're just so good.

I never take for granted that I have a great life, one I've created over many years and with much effort, and I never take for granted the most valuable things I have such as my health and those two girls I mentioned above; knowing they'll be there when I get home makes the effort of working so hard worth while.

Cleo is very beautiful and gives you all her love. She surely misses you very much. It's true that many people may think that these trips are great, but over time they lose their charm, simply because you are far from home. Only five days left, you'll be there soon.

Cata is the closest to me, always by my side, and when I have to leave, she knows it and lies down in my bag so I won't go. When I come back, she always comes to meet me. She's my queen.🤗

I hope you wrap up your business assignments soon and return home to Cleo. I am sure she will miss you greatly. Weldone.

I'm with you there, traveling for work used to be pretty exciting and when I was younger I did quite a bit of it. Now I can go for maybe a couple nights but I just enjoy being in my own bed with my wife a lot more. Even traveling for pleasure gets a bit tedious after a while and I just want to be home.

Work travel is well overrated indeed.

Yeah travel for work is so annoying, I got offered some jobs where travel was included, I refused and just picked this which now makes me do home work, even better than office work... I like my house, my commodity and yea my loved ones (including my 2 cats)... One of the 2,that one risen by hand, when it's night and I lay in the bad actually comes and sneaks under my own blanked to lay on me, so everytime I feel her walking on the bed I open the blanked and let her in, I find it so cute and sign of love

I've travelled a lot for work over the years and haven't minded it to be honest, it's not glamorous or exciting though, much the opposite.

I'm sorry for the super short comment, I'm away for work but wanted to comment to you in reply to you nonetheless - an acknowledgement of sorts. I'm sure you'll understand.

Adorable. My little Mia got taken to the vet today. She was a very grumpy lady when we got home. She got spoiled at home, the moment she returned.

Then I needed to go out, and she was waiting by the internal garage door when I opened it after getting back. For people who say that cats don't miss you, they're lying.

That, or I have a highly anomalous cat.

It's funny how they get grumpy at/after the vet. Cleo does the same and then gets really snuggly.

Mia is usually a quiet cat..she rambles and raves with her mews and mowls for HOURS after a vet. She takes on the personality of an old lady. I mean she's something like 12-14 (we don't know exactly how old) but its adorable.

Nah, the last time Mia had an encounter with another kitty, she sent it properly to the vet. She's a territorial old bitty.

Today I plan on finishing the booking reading, and Mia seems to agree...

Yep, she's purring her little motor away. She's happy, im happy, only i can't move, lest I disturb the mistress of the house.

How cute is Cleo, she looks very comfortable on the blanket. It's true, work trips are not fun, you have to be subject to schedules and routines that end up causing stress, nothing like the comfort of home in the company of loved ones.

She's a cutie for sure, loves to snuggle and she has a really nice character. She makes me happy, so I look forward to seeing her soon.

When I first read the title of this post I though about something completely different :) It turned out to be a lot more on the romantic side and Cleopatra is a cat :)

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and that would certainly apply in this situation. I'm positive your girls miss you as much as you miss them and will be exceedingly happy upon your return. Extra snuggles will be required when you get back, for you and for them!

Yeah, extra for sure. Extra sleep in my own bed too, this one is shit. Oh well, better than the ground getting bombs dropped on my head.

People's perception of work travel vs the reality of it has always been slightly irksome. There's no company card when I travel, just me trying to travel as light and cheaply as possible to maximize what I can get done, so getting told something to the effect of "what a nice vacation" gets under my skin a bit.

Give Cleo some chin scratches for me when you get home!

Yeah, it irks me how people call it vacation, especially when they've never had any work travel at all.

I haven't traveled for work for 2 years now. It is bad, especially when you have two small kids at home, missing their dad. Also, I used to feel guilty that my wife had to deal with them by herself during the couple of nights that I spent there...But anyway was also a good experience to have that moment by my own, like you said, having dinner with a glass of wine. It makes you think a lot about things that you usually can't do it when you are home since things at home are fast and noisy.
And the comebacks were always good, when you miss your loved ones, you hug them with more strength.

Well not sure if this is the right place to say that, you can ignore if you want: I noticed that you were behind a user called chimaobicollins, have you noticed that he has a possible alt chimaobi that also posts ai? chimaobicollins received a good amount of votes from this user I doubt that they are different users

Yep, coming home is always good and I make sure to make it special, a sort of reward for having worked hard when away.

Yeah, I downvote that user, not sure on the one you mention. If you have an issue with it you should cast some downvotes on it.

That is a very nice post. Your home sounds like a wonderful place to be. Thank you for sharing that happiness.

I usually miss my home just a little when I travel. Nero is an outdoor cat that is very well without me, though he might find it weird that my window is closed in the mornings, and food is only downstairs, not on the balcony.

Since I don't live with my girlfriend and we don't spend a whole lot of time together, it takes a while to really miss her. That said, I usually travel to family, so I get a fair share of "home" and hugs there. When I travel for myself, it's either with Lily (who keeps me on my toes and distracted anyway) or only short trips that I do for fun.

I guess my living situation is not made to miss a lot. For now.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder I guess, it's true. I miss other things about home though as well as I said. I don't mind travelling for work, It's never dull, but coming home is the best part.
