Oops...spilled the coffee

you disgusting snoopy mother fucker (3).jpg

Some may argue that this isn't real coffee, but it is. I get it though, it's instant coffee and is not the best type of coffee to drink, but the granules have some nice shapes and I thought it would make a reasonable subject to shoot.

I call instant coffee, instant disappointment, because it's quite disappointing to drink, especially knowing there's better coffee out there, however if the choice is no coffee or instant coffee...well, it's a clear choice I think; some is better than none don't you agree?

you disgusting snoopy mother fucker (5).jpg

I used my lightbox for these shots once again, with the black background in it, and the coffee is sitting on a white plate so the fabric of the background didn't get dirty. The small espresso cup is a Nespresso one, the same colour purple as one of my favourite Nespresso pods, arpeggio. The cup is designed to resemble a coffee pod and I have a set of purple ones and the gold ones too, which mirror the colour of the other pods I love called, volluto. I thought the purple would pop nicely in the shots though.

I included the three shots below as I liked the reflection of light inside the cup, created using a torch, and the close up nature of the instant coffee granules, the way they're shaped sort of like little rocks broken off rocky a cliff-face is cool.

This was a fairly rushed photo shoot really only to test it out and see what I could create and I have some ideas in mind to make it a little more interesting next time. I think they came out ok though and it's a good use of instant coffee...much better than actually drinking it.

Now folks, it's your turn to type some stuff into the comments area below...but only if you want to engage with me, I'd not want you to do something you're not keen on. Comment on my photographs, what you like as far as coffee goes, or don't like, or just about coffee in general. Comment about anything really, I'll respond.

I like what you say.

Instant coffee, instant disappointment,

Here in Venezuela it is 9.11 pm and I just finished making coffee, because I will be working for a while with the university payroll, and I told my wife that I would make coffee, in Venezuela we have a very good coffee and in the state where I live there are good coffee growers, in fact the state where I live is called Anzoátegui and the best coffee in Venezuela is called Café Anzoátegui.

I have rarely had instant coffee, before the pandemic my sister-in-law came back from Colombia and brought an instant coffee as a gift, it was not bad, but I insist, nothing like freshly brewed coffee.

We have great coffee here too, from all over the world. I guess that's something to be said for how multicultural my country is, reasonably affluent too; great foods and beverages come from all corners of the world.

I always have instant coffee in my house but I generally use ground coffee or Nespresso pods which are reliable and good. Sometimes I have instant though and it's not all that bad, just not as good as the others.

All the best with your night of work, and have a good weekend ahead.

How many do you reckon you have a day? For me it's about 3-4 but sometimes more.

I used to be the same 3-4 but now I'm mainly one cup, possible second if I feel I need it.

I drink a lot of water, between 2-3 litres a day, but those coffees are satisfying. Having said that, I also drink tea now and then. I know when I've had too much coffee, I feel it, so will back off a little.

Oh yeah for sure, I mainly just drink water. Cold and room temperature. Depends how I'm feeling but I keep it pouring.

After the zombie apocalypse, people will kill for instant coffee. 😅

Oh yeah, I agree...and toothpaste, soap and other such things. I think it's interesting to think about what we take for granted and how we might deal with being without. In my prepping stuff I have coffee...maybe I'll become a coffee magnate in the zombie apocalypse...maybe I'll keep it all for myself.

How did you manage to instantly elevate your coffee with with this rushed photoshoot?
Care to take a look at mine? Hahaha.
This is what I am drinking now because I'm so damn lazy to head out to get a proper coffee in this insane weather 😣

Great photo shoot! Lol.

Seriously though, this coffee is probably better than the alternative which I assume is none.

Thanks for getting involved and sharing an image.

Uff these are some impressive shots. Do you have new photo equipment? I´m just back from 3 weeks of Instant Coffee so I´m used to this. The whole 3 weeks I was asking myself how this kind of coffee is made...haven´t looked it up yet :)

EDIT: Finally looked it up...its roasted, ground, extracted and then dried

Thanks mate, I appreciate that. Nah, same Olympus mirrorless I've had since 2020. It does a reasonable job and is more capable than the person using it. 😁

Instant coffee = instant disappointment, but it's better than none at all right?

I hope things are going well for you. Nice and warm up on the Sunny Coast huh?

No worries, they are really good. If it was the camera mine would be that good as well, because I´ve the same :) haha

Well, I don´t like it at all but I got used to it. Now back to the good old plunger.

All good here, just needed a bit of sleep since we´re home. I underestimated the 5000km in 3 weeks. Was a bit much maybe. :) Weather is awesome and getting even better next week...25 degree

Yeah, I thought you had the same camera.

5K in three weeks is a lot man, but you survived. Rear up and get ready for the next adventure.

I´ve got the feeling that I did nothing but driving for 3 weeks. :)

It was intense especially when you go 110 in a 100 zone and still got a truck 5 meter behind you. I´m walking for the next couple of days :)

The trucks tend to do that, and they also drive there in a row really fast making it super difficult to overtake. They don't to save fuel through slipstreaming. Dangerous though.

Mehh! To me coffee is just coffee.

But I find it funny, how some people can exaggerate such a simple topic and beverage like coffee. Or maybe it is that complex, and it is I who's just not capable of making sense of it all?

I say the best type of coffee is the coffee that you like and the type you can afford. To me it's as simple as that.

Thanks for commenting. Yeah, I'd rather instant than none...but it's not the best coffee I guess. We make it work when we have to though right?

Instant coffee ... I used to drink it in Argentina, I used to buy it at home. I remember it, at that time I didn't even know there were better ones, now I do.

But it didn't have the shape that this one has that I see in your pictures, when I look at them without reading they look like cereals, me and my crazy things.🤣

It was an excellent choice for this publication, the shape and texture is perfect, plus the mug with that format and colour plus aun.... light box, hahaha I've already looked it up on the internet... I always learn something.

The fourth picture is my favourite, I like the focus, the arrangement, the colours, the contrast. Everything!

Very very clever.... do you have any old mugs? some people collect them and they look nice in a set of photos. Me and my ideas haha

I love the originality and the result of today's work... from everyone.

Super cool Galen!

This coffee I photographed is Moccona, a fairly popular brand I think. This one is the French one I think, but I can't be sure. It has interesting shapes though huh?

I don't have old mugs, but I'm always open to ideas on how to make things interesting. Thanks for commenting.

The shape is very interesting, I haven't seen anything like it, it looks great.

There are no old mugs? I'll think of something else, I'll think....

Well, I don't know much about coffee but I have not seen an instant coffee before or a coffee that has these types of shapes...
The ones we have available here are those dry ones like the powder form

It's that camera that makes the shots clear, the lightbox provides the light. Maybe give it a go yourself though, I'll wait to see what photos you produce.

It's nice idea that when coffee is not drinkable we can capture shoots
Nice shoots, i am thinking that if i would click shoot may be there remain a bit of dirt on that white plate. But in your shoot that is crystal clear.

The best use of instant coffee is anything but drinking it.

On the plate thing, everytime I moved the coffee around for a new shot I cleaned the plate of any stray granules as I wanted a clean plate. It seemed logical.

Thanks for your comments.
