Mud[master] in black and white

I refer to it as my watch but Casio call it the G-Shock Mudmaster GWG1000-1A3...and since buying it a couple years ago it's been my go-to 'daily driver' as far as watches go. I have several others, some far more expensive, but I happily wear this one virtually all the time because I love it.

I know some prefer not to wear a watche these day in preference to looking at their their phone, but I'm a little old fashioned and prefer a watch; besides, I don't like looking at my phone much; if it rings I answer and other than that it's largely forgotten.

I recently had some time to myself and decided to see if I could produce a black and white image worthy of posting in this community and this is what I photographed.

I've selected a few images with light reflecting in the face; that's light from the light-ring in my lightbox and rather than get annoyed with it I decided to work with it and make it part of the photograph. For a couple of the shots I used a little torch as a highlight (two and five) but other than that these were all shot using the light-ring on the lightbox at the lowest setting and I twiddled some dials on my camera to get the effect I was looking hoping for.

And...that's it for now. I'm not sure if any of these shots are much good and I don't care to be honest; I enjoyed taking them and whether they're good or not won't effect my day or the enjoyment I get out of owning this legit watch. If you've got any comments feel free to leave them below, I'll get back to you.

You have motivated me to tell you that my deceased father had a Casio watch and I wanted to keep it but as it did not work I gave it to a watchmaker who never fixed it and left the country and I lost my father's watch.
I really like watches because they have a lot of meaning.
A few years ago Nani gave me hers which happens to be a Casio and this one has never broken, I keep it with much love.
I loved your photos.

Casio makes a decent watch, the cheaper variants as well as the more costly like the Mudmaster. They're robust and generally unpretentious - they just do what they're supposed to.

It's good to hear you have and like Casio watches and thank you for liking my photos also, I appreciate it.

I'm not sure if any of these shots are much good and I don't care

That's obvious. If it's too much work you can't be bothered but that's okay you get maximum reward for minimum effort, unlike so many other users. Interesting how that works.

Also interesting seeing you downvote my last comment. Didn't you tell @cmplxty you're ignoring me? I guess you lied again. Legit lied again.

It looks very bulky. I feel like you have to have the right kind of wrist to pull it off. I've always wanted a nice watch, but I know I would scratch it up and ruin it.

Yeah, it's a big watch, needs to be to fit all the stuff it does I guess. It's not something that flies under the radar, that's for sure. It's also designed for rough treatment, harsh environments and so a scratch here and there is par for the course...chicks dig scars though right? Lol.

I've heard that. I'd just hate to spend like $500 on a watch and then go and scratch it up.

Yeah, I hear you it can feel a bit wrong; I guess I'm used to such things considering what I do and all. The watch is just another tool I suppose...and it's the first scratch that's the worst, from there it gets easier. :)

Haha, i totally understand that. I bought my truck used with some scratches and dents in it. Makes it much better when I accidentally add one!

I think with the object of the watch in black and white it is very feasible, because you are so detailed in the shooting side. The watch is very good, I am very interested in watches like you wear, but until now I have not been able to buy it😊😊

Nice work. You have a great ability to combine details with the whims of light. The result is magical ;)

Whimsical rascally light has been combined magically...that's exactly what I was going for. 😊

The shots are beautiful, from the detailed perspectives you captured your Casio wrist watch.
I love watches but I don't wear them pretty much these days, but when I do wear, it's more as an ornament rather than a time telling piece.

So many don't wear watches these days, but there's purists, like me, who will always wear one. It's a bit of a statement I guess. I'm glad you like these pictures I took.

The shots look great. I like how the watch has a lot of textures/elevations/indentations/features/parts [I don't know the collective term]. The light is able to have a unique effect on it and gives it even more character.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it's not just a round case so picks up light and causes shadow quite nicely. I think these shots came out reasonably well, from my non-photographer perspective at least.

Mud master would be really a master as it has mastery over your heart in comparison to other watches. From watch I remember that I have watches but all of them are lost. I am so bad in handling things.

If I was to lose this Mudmaster I'd buy a new one immediately although I've never lost a watch, it would mean I'd have lost my arm too, and that wouldn't be so good.

Your Mudmaster looks like a true companion, and these black and white shots captures its beauty brilliantly.

Thank you, I think these shots came out about as well as possible considering my average skills. Thanks for commenting.

I loved the effects of the bright light on the watch, but the watch itself is great!

What a great style the black and white pictures have even though you know I love colours, but... sometimes it's not bad the greyscale...

I must confess I don't know why but I really liked the last picture and it made an impact on me. Very good eye, artist!

I like that last one too...it reminds me of a space ship or something. I guess I just like the war the light reflects. These came out ok I think right? Good enough for a nutbag like me.

The war between light and shadow.... would be a good title, don't you think?

If that's what it sounds like. Very nice shots for a genius hahahahaha

I remember a G-Shock watch of mine which I bought for 1000pkr (3.5USD) when I was in grade 9. The reason I remember that watch is that I loved it so much but it was stolen from my school bag.

You always bring some magical results with your photography 😀

(And heartiest congratulations on winning the cricket world cup for the sixth time)

It sucks have things stolen, especially if it's something you value. Maybe you'll get another one someday.

Yeah, the Australians won...I wasn't all that confident they would against and undefeated India. Oh well, it's good for them I guess, they didn't have an easy World Cup.

Nah. I have one of the company Bonito now. A bit expensive but really beautiful.

Yeah, Australia did something really exceptional 👍

If I ever buy a G-Shock is because of the photos you had over the years with this model. I currently don't own any watches, I had a smart watch for a couple of years but was tired of constantly checking the data on it and felt like giving it away so I can get back to training without the damn stats on the watch...

I don't like wearing watches during winter but I'll probably buy one next spring.

Great shots, by the way.

I've never had a smartwatch and the concept of it turns me off. To me, and I could be wrong, people become obsessed with them and all the tracking they provide begins to rule ones life. Sleep tracking, heart beat, activity and all that. It all seems rather stupid to me. So, I understand your comments, training without the stats on the watch.

I have some very nice watches and my favourite, because of the meaning of it, (which I rarely wear) is not this one...but this one is worn every day so is like a part of me. I don't wear jewellery, don't see the point, but this watch goes on every day.

Thaks for your comment on the shots and maybe one day I'll be reading a post about which Casio G-Shock you purchased.
