Little flower

(Edited)

I'm an outdoors guy and love all things nature; it's where I feel most comfortable. Flowers are only one element of nature but for so many, myself included, they mean a lot. I don't go wandering about thinking about flowers all the time, but I appreciate them, their scents and colours, their role in the grand scheme of nature and they're nice to look at too right?

On the weekend, I plucked a few from my garden to take some shots and was pretty happy with the results. I used a water spray bottle to get the drops of water figuring it may add some interest and broke out my trusty Olympus camera and just started snapping. As usual, I'll name the images and add a few words. Warning: some of the names may be dumb, they come from the mind of a knucklehead after all.

Lavender tentacles

Unfortunately my lavender blooms are on the decline due to the time of year but I managed to capture a couple of decent shots.

asd.png

Bug eyes

The two drops of water on the end of this, soon to unfold, flower remind me of bugs eyes. I imagine it to be an inquisitive insect looking intently at something.

bnm.png

Changeling

The mandevilla, in my opinion, looks just as good as a closed flower as it does open; the journey it takes from bud to full bloom is interesting to watch, the change from one to the other miraculous, just like most things in nature.

iop.png

Tentacle egg

I know, it's not an egg at all, it's a new lavender bud forming at the end of a sprig of the lavender bush tentacles. I told you the names might be dumb.

cxz.png

Sweet nectar

It's only water, but the drops look like they're coming out of the open flower reminding me of a sweet nectar dripping off petals.

zxc.png

Lonely boob

This water drop reminds me of a boob. Enough said.

mnb.png

Life and death

As I said earlier, my lavender flowers are moving swiftly towards their demise so I didn't have beautiful flowers to photograph. Still, life is beautiful even though it fades and the cycle of birth and death isn't something to be shunned, just celebrated.

poi.png

Reaching the summit

The water drops look like they're climbing to the summit of the leaf, you can see them on the ridgeline climbing in a row. I kind of like that pink of the flower in the background seen through the tiny droplets too.

lkj.png

The overlord and his minions

This one resembles a lord surrounded by his subjects, some closer to the seat of power and of greater importance and others farther away. (Note: My alternate name for this one was, lots of little boobs)

dsa.png

The invite - wet and ready

This flower has opened itself to...just make it up for yourself based on my title for this picture ok?

pkg.png

And so we come to the end. I'm going to do something a little different this time. If you want to have a try at naming one of my images, say which one, give it a name and explain it in a comment below. I may drop some larger votes on some of them if any one actually does it.

Thank you mate, I really appreciate you saying so. I'm not much of a photographer so kind of feel my way along but I enjoy it and when I get some decent shots, and comments like yours, I feel pretty great about it. So, thank you.

Thank you man, I appreciate you saying so. I get a buzz out of taking shots like this, as a non-photographer, and like to get some feedback now and then also.

I love how you capture the droplets and the fabric of the microworld, I'm not a photographer either, but I really appreciate things that are just excellent! 😍

What a beautiful set of flowers, the angle they were captured is also perfect. Flowers are really one of the beautiful thing that exist in this world. Their color, their smell and even their appearance. It's enough to cheer up anyone who's having a hard time right now, some even take as taking care of a flowers like a therapy, coz their lonely life become a little bit brighter thanks to their existence.

Flowers are pretty cool right? They tend to be the go-to thing for people to give to others for special events, when they're ill or just to cheer someone up, say thank you or show one's romantic interest. Truly one of natures best creations. Thanks nature.

It was a very beautiful and colorful photograph even though it was just a small bouquet of flowers. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment. Although, it wasn't at all a small bouquet of flowers, there were all flowers from my garden, one's I've personally grown as stated in the post.

I couldn't think of any name because you got me laughing what the names I was seeing, it's funny how some of the flowers even got really sexy names.

I love nature, flowers to be specific. I have pictures of a few I captured but not a great as these. You did captured great shots sir...

I made you laugh huh? Well good, that was the point. Which was the best name in your opinion?

The "Bull eyes" was funny because the flower actually had the eyes, the drop of water on the flower made the name cool for it but the "The invite- Sweet and ready" hits differently in this cold weather.

I don't know how you came up with the name but it sounds the best to me

One boob to rule them all (minus any nips)... ahhaha for a knucklehead, you have some pretty poetic thoughts inspired by some tiny leaves and flowers. I love lavender so it was really cool to see those, for me, in particular. All were great shots... but i have some thought provoking things to consider, and water drop boob/boobs to think about about. hahaha

Lol, yeah nipless boobs are no bueno.

Lavender is pretty legit right? I have French lavender and have some cool photos (cool from my own perspective). When they're in bloom my hose is full of the flowers and smells accordingly.

They say that the smell of lavender (and rosemary) helps with memory and calmness. That's probably why it's always in baby products. It's nature's chill pill.

Lavent helps me sleep sometimes, that calmness you speak of I guess.

Me too! I didn't realize until my nephew was always crying as a baby at night. We started using lavender baby power and baby shampoo. Even if it didn't calm him down, it worked on me. hahaha

Your macro lens/setting seem seriously capable, even if your image titles are less so.

Beautiful flowers. The droplets of water is a great touch adding life and freshness to the flowers as though in the garden. A lovely gardener who knows how to handle and picture his plants right. Not to forget the thoughtful stories behind them.

Thanks for sharing such beauties and the names are a nice touch that makes for an easy recall😁🙏

What a nice comment, thanks so much.

I'm always quite self-conscious when it comes to photography as I don't really know much about it. I get a decent result now and then however, and a comment like yours also, both are appreciated.

Thank you for taking a look, commenting and for such nice words.

Bonding with nature is important to find back ourselves.

This Friday I am going to start the Yoga class outside, at the open-air, in a park here in Modena. We are starting soon because we aim to be the first Yoga school starting Park lessons, so to get some attention from the people

Thanks mate, I appreciate it.

The yoga class sounds great, and a lovely place for it too.

I spent some time in Modena and Bologna, went to the two famous car factories and museums and the Ducati museum also. I drove a Ferrari around a bit as well, which was fun. One of the highlights was Musée automobile PANINI (Collezione Umberto Panini) and a visit to Hombre where they make parmesan for the Vatican. I remember great food, friendly people and and a lot to do. It was a nice time.

The mandevilla bud looks like a missile but I won't name it missile for peace. The last one I would name the light at the end of the tunnel :D.
You have some great shots here and a funny post.

Anyway, thanks for your comments and yeah, I tried to make it a little funny, just in case people thought my photos were shit.

Lol. I know...I like to be modest though because it's not in me to talk myself up, I'd rather just blend in then emerge when required, but not like a stripper popping out of a birthday cake.

You're probably right you know, I think the look on the poor people's faces would be worth it! But remember, what has been seen, cannot be unseen. It could be traumatic.

Not bad for a knucklehead @galenkp! Very nice for just a guy who says he points and presses the big button 😀. Nice touch with the spray bottle, really adds to the pictures for sure. Your near x-rated narration is what today's NatGeo TV lacks for sure.

Thank you, us knuckleheads have success now and then, fortunately.

I try and make the names/descriptions a little entertaining I guess. I'm not into simply dumping a few photos so the text is there to support the images. In the case of this post I've tried to be a little humorous. My next one, well...the title is a little x-rated if taken out of context but the post (photos and text) itself is pretty straight up and probably boring. You'll see on Saturday when I post it.

Beautiful shots here, I would be curious to know which lens you used for those cute little flowers (?)

This water drop reminds me of a boob

It's what I thought too, even for the ones above, ready to unfold ^^

Thanks you for this fresh article, feel in every of your sharing here that you're an outdoors man !

Hey mate, thanks for your comment. I use the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm macro lens for the macro shots (and some others) I do. It works a treat.

I certainly love the outdoors, it's where I feel I belong, rather than stuck in a city somewhere. I'm actually writing a post about my very first camping trip right now. I remember it fondly.

You're welcome. As I have still recently acquired a camera, I am always curious to know what equipment was used to make images I like... even if the equipment is clearly not everything !

I truly understand that, when I came to the city for my studies I thought I would only stay for the time of my studies, but I met my partner there and since then I am still there... But the good news is that we have found a house on the edge of a big forest and things are about to change :)

I'm actually writing a post about my very first camping trip right now. I remember it fondly.

I'll keep an eye out for this one, you've teased me well !

Thank you, the purchase is still ongoing and after we’ll have a lot of work inside, but it definitely worth it !
