Hidden frog and other stuff

It's not my job, but I ate a frog once, its legs anyway, when I was in France. It was pretty good to be honest although I'd choose something else over it if I was able to. I ate snails that night too, escargots de bourgogne, at the very legit place called Moulin Rouge in Paris, and I think I'd rather chew my own face off than eat snails ever again. Having said that, life is far too short not to try something new and different and I'm glad I tried those two things which, whilst not my favourite things, certainly were far from the worst foods I've eaten.
Anyway, talking about doing something different, that's what I did today with a few photos.

I was sorting through some Lego and decided to snap a few photographs of it and to try out something a little different which you'll see in the first image and the one below. I'll be working with that orb again soon as I play around with how I'm going to make use of it but I like these two shots initially so decided to include them.
The top image of the frog partially hidden by the orb is my favourite shot, but I like how the orb inverted the Lego house in the image below too. It should be fun to play around with I think and I hope to generate some interesting images.

This session was more about seeing how the Lego would photograph using my lightbox. It was a little difficult as the lightbox just isn't big enough to hold many of my Lego builds, most are twice as big as the lightbox itself, so I'll have to come up with something else, which I didn't have the time to do today. I'm actually thinking of making my own lightbox, a foldable one so I can store it easily but that's a thought in process and will stay that way for a while before it comes a work in process.
Thanks for taking a look and, as always, you're free to comment if you like. Pick out a favourite shot, comment on Lego, give me some ideas on how to make my own lightbox or just say hello, I'll respond in kind.

But there is a story here! I love it (the frog is cute) This frog eating thing is best left here. They taste good. hahahahaha... and the photo I like the most, of course, is the one of the house and the upside down reflection.
I ate three frogs legs and whilst they were sort of ok I left the last one figuring that 75% was a good enough quantity. The snails, well I ate all of them, a dozen all up, but I might have been distracted while I was eating, it was moulin Rouge after all, and that probably had an impact on how many I ate. I'll not be eating snails again though.
I like the house one too, the detail in it. I look forward to playing around with that glass sphere some more.
Well, Moulin Rouge is known as the place of excess. Hahaha... you are passionate about giving details of frogs legs? please? 🤣
Snails, oysters, those things for me I think are forgiven. I won't eat that ever.
It's a legit place, I enjoyed it.
I was too busy looking at legs (and other things) of the humans on stage. Lol.
😂... ay Galenkp, mira que eres cómico (come on, do the translation) tienes que aprender cubano para cuando vengas a Tropicana.

Look what you've gone and done...put "Tropicana" on my list of places to go! 🤣
👌 yes! it's premeditated hahaha (I don't even know how that is, if it's still with the same glamour) I've become an old and boring lady.
I don't believe you, but who am I to argue I guess. Although...I don't believe you.
Incredible display of images. How are you today friends.
Thanks for your comment, although I don't think incredible is the right word; I appreciate the sentiment though.
My son and I had some fun a few weekends ago following a small frog as it hopped its way across a field and found a home in some fallen trees. I tried to snap a photo but the little bugger wouldn't sit still for us...
#frogsbehoppy
What is cool about this comment is that you're out there in the the outdoors with your son having fun with nature rather than sticking a device into his hands that he buries his face in. Nice work.
Yup, non screen time is a huge priority for me, even better when it's in nature.
So many parents find it more convenient to put an ipad in front of their kids thinking they will get quality time themselves by providing that distraction. I get it to some degree, life is busy these days, however you can rob a bank but it doesn't make it right. I'm of a mind that a parent should find the time to spend with their kids and offer them a well-rounded upbringing...But what do I know, I'm not a parent.
Sounds right to me, my son definitely likes his video games, and so do I, but the difference I see in his personality and attitude and well being when he gets less time on a screen is amazing. Plus he's a nine year old boy with boundless energy, he needs all the exercises he can get.😁
#humanhampsterwheel
The images were outstanding I appreciate it👍
Thanks, I appreciate your endorsement.
I have never tried frogs legs or snail. I'll be honest, I don't think I'll ever get to try any of those foods, of course there is always the exception to the rule or maybe with extreme hunger and without having something to eat, I'll have to eat frogs legs or snail.
By the way, you reminded me of a song that became famous in 1991, it was called "sopa de caracol" (snail soup).
a tip, it may help you to make your box, you can use some rods, they can be similar to those used to assemble a tent, and then place a cloth, that way it will be something easy to assemble and store, and you can make it the size you want.
Never say never, there's always a possibility. I remember thinking stuff like that in my life, that'll never happen, and then...it did. I guess I work on the premise that I'll gravitate towards the things I think about most, (do the things required to attain them because I am so focused on them.)
But if you never eat frogs legs and snails you're not missing out on much. Lol.
I used to use a sheet strung up on the wall and have used a curved piece of thin coloured card-stock paper sticky-taped to the wall too. (The curve removes the shadow that angled corners make). I'm happy to try a few things, play around a little, as it adds to the enjoyment. I have a plan for the lightbox and when it happens I'll do a post I guess.
Foldable lightbox sounds like a cool idea :D
Sounds like you need to get a few more lights and some different coloured cloths and have a big setup in a corner possibly on a table xD
The one I have now is foldable, open on one side with an LED light-ring in the top and a flap also, for taking shots directly down from above. It's pretty good as it came with several backgrounds but I like the white and black the best. I want to make a bigger one and will probably use the "pattern" that my existing one opens up to as a template, but double the dimensions. My plan was to use white corflute. It's on my DIY list which is long as my d...umm, arm. Lol.
I am pretty weak in Lego, infact 'null' as i never played it , or used it....but looking at your pics and creative design made with it, I think it is a good especially when it comes to keep the kids engage. Not everyone are so good with it...and also with Frog, never ever tried to get closer, even when they are abundant in the rainy days.
I'm a big kid so I'm glad I have some Lego to mess around with. I don't think fun is the domain of kids, everyone is allowed to have fun, don't you think?
With frogs, I know some people get freaked out by them, this Lego one is harmless though. 🐸
I think I ate frogs' legs when I was little, I seem to remember that they tasted like chicken 🍗 to me . I have never eaten snake, but I think I would dare to eat it. As long as it's not insects 😅, it's okay for me to try.
Very good use of Legos! I've never played with them before, and I find it very interesting to see what you can get. I have my eye on the glass ball. Oh how I love that! I've seen it in several pictures; it always gets me a lot.
Lol...everything tastes like chicken, I guess maybe a convenient thing we try to delude ourselves with? In thins case though, frogs legs, you're right.
I've not eaten snake but have had crocodile...sort of tastes like...wait for it...chicken! Lol. Kind of has the texture of fish though. It's a weird thing, but pretty tasty.
I hope you get to play with Lego someday, it's pretty cool and a lot of fun...and fun is not just the domain of children. I'm older than the dinosaurs and I still like to have fun. (Ok, maybe not all that old.)
The orb...yeah, it's a new thing for me, something I picked up a while ago but have not used until now. I'm going to explore some ideas I have and see what I can produce, these one's were a little test.
Thanks for commenting.
Now, you are from Australia, aren't you? Have you eaten Kangaroo? I don't even know if it's legal hahahaha I think I would feel sorry for them, because they are cute critters (at least in picture). About the legos, I believe you! my husband is an architect and if I buy him Legos, I don't think I'll get him back.
I hope to see more photos experimenting with the orb.
"not all that old"... but close?! 🤣 na, it's a joke, or not 😂 (I'm not all that old either).
Yep, the greatest place in the world!
I have eaten kangaroo yes, and it certainly is legal, we can buy it in the supermarket. It's mostly harvested for export and pet food though, which is a little weird considering how many of the buggers we have.
You'll never see him again...at least not without Lego in his hands! 😁
I'll post more, hoping to do some sunset ones at the beach too, so if you see my posts you'll see some images.
Well, I'm 137 years old...is that old? 🤣
137 years, well...if you are a rockfish, you have already spent 50% of your life, yeah, even for an animal like that, 137 years is old!🤣
I think I would try a kangaroo leg...it sure tastes like...you know what I'm gonna say 😜.
Oh cool, only 50%...I feel like I want to be a rockfish now!
Chicken! Although, on this occasion I can assure you that it is nothing at all like chicken.
I think all the pics are cool, but I like the one with the house and orb best. As far as frog legs and snails, I have had both. Wouldn't pay to eat either again, but if starving would kill, clean, and eat them with pure joy. As far as the lightbox, I hate to say it, but Amazon had some of varying sizes. I was looking the other day at them for taking shots of my coins and stuff. Hope your weekend is going well.
Thanks bro, yep I like that one too...the frog one is probably my favourite though, just the contrast of colours I guess.
Frogs legs and snails...Give me a burger any day...or anything else at all! Lol.
Seriously though, I'm glad I tried it, I'm not one to hold something off through ignorance or inexperience...Best to give stuff a go and see what happens. (Within reason of course.)
I can buy a lightbox, one the size I want too, but that would remove the enjoyment of thinking how I can create one for myself, the planning, process and satisfaction. There's one I saw recently that would suit me and despite it being a little costly I'd buy it...if I didn't have it in my head to use my noggin and hands to make my own.
Have a great weekend man.
I hear ya. A good cooked moo cow is always good. YEs, something built with your own brain and hands is always more satisfying for sure. Hope you are able to get one made up.
I'll welcome the failures knowing each of them will bring me closer to the one that works. 😁
Frogs are a delicacy in some parts of the Philippines. I haven't had one, and I don't think I will in the future. People who've tried it says it tastes like chicken. I think Ginataang Kuhol [Snails in Coconut Milk] is really good. I think it will change your thoughts about eating snails once you try it.
As for the photos, I find the effect of the Orb with the house interesting, but my favorite is the blue car. It looks a bit like the old school Volkswagen Beetle. The little details really look nice.
Yes, I've heard that however it's not something I think I'd tray again personally, been there, done that, don't need to do it again...although I'd think twice if it was snail pizza I think.
The orb of pleasure I'm calling it...because everyone seems to like the images with it in.
That's exactly what it is supposed to be and how the folks at Lego made it to be when they designed it.
I think I should take some classes from you.
As I can see how best you are at this.
And as I am thinking of a light box, isn't it easy to just take a wooden box, cut its one side, and hang white curtains 😂😬
I was joking, I dont know much. You are a master in all this.
I don't charge much, only $100AUD, charged hourly, in six minute blocks or part thereof.
It's pretty much that simple, but because I like to challenge myself, to think and to do things with my hands, I'll be doing something a little more creative than that.
Man, this price is my 3 weeks pocket money, which you are going to charge for just 6 mins class.
Well, I just shared an idea of a lightbox and I know you are a creative person and you will make an extraordinary one.
If you know how to work with carbon fiber and resin i think it will be a good choice of material for your light box as it is light and very durable. The downside is that it tends to be more expensive and foldability might be an issue.
I'll call up my mate at the McLaren F1 team, I'm sure he won't mind bringing some home for me. Good idea, except for the lack of foldability.
This lightbox actually does a stellar job. This stuff looks really professional. I thought it was stock images.
Some fancy Lego you have there!
So in regards to a bigger lightbox.... since this one is so good why not build a bigger one of the same design? Can you show me this one's designs please? I need to build myself a proper lightbox for my 40k photography... even if I am only going to use my phone to do it.
PS. I like the third pic better, with the house and the orb.
Yeah, stock...right out of my home office where I set my lightbox up. Lol. (I sometimes even do some work in here.)
Yep, I said that's what I'm doing in another comment in this post.
It's basically like this, slightly different. I actually think mine is better and it wasn't at costly. I'll use mine as a template and double to dimensions of it, probably anyway.
(I don't have anywhere to photograph my lightbox without showing other things I'd not like on the blockchain, so that image will have to do. I need a bigger lightbox to photograph my lightbox.) 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sounds suspicious! Hahahahaha! 😉
Lookin good tho!
It's call it cautious and private; I'm not one of those cock-knockers who puts everything online.
Its a joke man. Just a bit of tongue in cheek.
Of course man, I knew that; I'd not have responded if I thought otherwise.
What a great effect in the first picture, I love it! I said to myself, but what is it? It's great!
Then I loved the last one, I thought of a plane taking off to its destination. I imagine too much haha, I've already made a movie.
I see you already know what theme to choose.... I'm not saying more hahaha
The light box, I was researching for myself because I like the results you get, of course I would try a lot before, I have no idea, but I love the idea.
I saw several handmade boxes, with cardboard lined (I hope the translator says what I want haha), assembled and with holes for the entry of light, or power light inside, through a system of iluminacipon led. It could work and it would be the size you want.
Note: Here I see eating snails.... was disgusting, I will not try that hahaha and frog ... if you do not tell me that is ... is likely but if not not no.
Thanks, I like that first image also.
The lightbox is basically exactly as you describe it, just a box, and there's various ways to make one including spray painting the inside of a cardboard box white - basic but it would work. I want something a little more professional that that, but I'm not willing to pay out for one so I'll make my own. I am pretty handy like that, and enjoy the process.
I'd say, try snails at least once if you get the chance, they won't keep you I guess, and then you can at least say you've had the experience; the same with frogs legs. Having said that, *there's far better things to be eating I think.
Have a good day, Saturday night here and I'm holding the couch down watching some TV shows, a series.
I'll think about it, the subject of snails reminds me of the slimy snails that used to be in my garden hahaha.
I'm sure that light box will look amazing, even if it takes time to make it.
Enjoy the series, you have to take some time for yourself once in a while.
The French do them in a sauce of garlic, shallots, butter and parsley (wine, pepper etc.)...it's actually quite good from that perspective, but the texture...not so much. The girl I had with me got brave and tried one, she bit into it and just about gagged...then spat it out onto my plate. I ate it, and the other eleven on the plate. Lol.
The series is off actually, the movie Angels and Demons has been selected instead. The coffee is brewing, the brownie is being plated up and...I'll be kicking back watching soon.
I've already lost my desire to try snails hahahaha just imagining it uff.🤣
I saw that movie, it's great, the two movies of that actor that deal with that subject. Let's watch it carefully! I have mate frio, it's 36 degrees...
Orb has changed the view of the Lego designs. You came up with creative design. Even I have never thought that I could create a frog with it. May be it's due to different Lego which we have at home. Also those which are available at my home aren't mine.
Secondly, I have never tried Frog legs. Well, are you thinking to try anything new but strange ?
It bending light is something I've been thinking about doing and finally aibgot a couple things that can do it. I'll explore a little more as time passes.
