Green and crawly
A little earlier today I decided to shoot a few images of some cuttings I'd taken from a tree growing in my street...these are not those photos, I'll do a post about those at some later date, this post is about a little fellow who managed to come into my house aboard the cuttings I'd taken.
As I was taking the images of the plants in my lightbox I could see tiny little insects wandering around on them as I looked through the camera. I don't think I'd have been able to see them with the naked eye, but through the macro lens they were only just visible. I kept shooting and then, this bastard crawled out of one of the twigs. He wasn't all that scary though, it's just my first reaction when I see spiders because I don't like them. This one was tiny, super small in fact, and probably not dangerous like many of the others in Australia are.
Anyway, he was a restless bugger and didn't want to sit still but I managed to get a couple shots of him that seemed semi-decent and here they are.
I'm not a great photographer at the best of times and shooting things in macro that don't want to keep still is pretty challenging for me, but it was good to have the chance with this little fellow. At the end of the shoot, I took all of the cuttings I'd taken and placed them back in the tree I'd taken them from; yes I know they won't grow again, but I wanted this little guy to get back into the same tree I took him from...just in case he had a little girl spider in there he was sweet on. True love endures you know.
Here in Australia, we have some of the worlds most deadly and aggressive spiders and I do not like them one little bit, but we co-exist I guess and I've managed to go my entire life without being killed, so far. What about you, do you like spiders, hate them or don't have an opinion? Have you had one fall or crawl on you? This happened to me, a big fucken spider called a Huntsman, and it wasn't my finest hour. Feel free to comment with any spider stories you have if you're keen, I'll always respond.

Every image in this post is my own.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III was used to capture these images.
You are saying you are not a good photographer? but these photographs are saying the opposite. You have killed it, mate.
Thanks mate, I've not done macro shots like this before , creepy crawlies just don't stay still, so I was happy to have the chance to get a shot or two. I appreciate your favourable comment.
Nature has not put rest in their nature, they sense danger and start to move here and there.
Yeah, he was a quick little bugger; he was spinning web...I tried to photograph it but it was so fine I couldn't see it.
But your camera was quick enough to capture these wonderful photos ;)
The camera did all the work yeah, I just pressed the button.
Awesome shots
Thanks.
Supersnygg spindel, man skulle kunna ta fel, och tro att det är ett bär.
The green berry spider it's called...ok, not really. It was very small and my camera struggled to get decent shots but I think these ones show it well enough.
These photographs are masterful!!!
I can't believe the beauty of what I'm seeing, aren't you a great photographer? Let me tell you that you are, and let no one say otherwise. I would stay for hours admiring these beautiful shots!
It's super hard to do that and I love it, please, I love it!!! !!!!!
But .... I don't like spiders at all... at one time I had a phobia, when I saw one, even a tiny one, I would stand still and I was short of breath, I couldn't even kill it.
Today I am better.... the small ones I kill them, I understood that the spiders represent the mother... and my fear that something happens to her, everything has a reason. I analyse myself a lot.
I still don't like them hahaha
But what great shots, OMG!!!!
Congratulations, genius!
Thanks, it was a little bit of fun working with the superstar model (the spider) although the bugger didn't want to stay still!
Spiders are pretty creepy things and I'm with you, I don't like them much at all.
Thanks for making a comment, I hope you don't run into any spiders today.
The spiders won't stay still haha that won't happen, you'll have to be quick to take the picture, that's nature.
I hope I don't come across any .... I don't like them at all. To think that some people keep them as pets.
Spiders as pets...people are weird.
And there are worse things.... snakes or exotic animals as pets. I would have 1000 cats, well 1000 I can't hahahaha
Good night! Time for bed. Have a nice day!
No... I don't like spiders, in fact, when I saw the photo from the outside, I thought "ick.... a spider post" ... and debated a few seconds if I was going to come see.
You did good with the photos though. I like the pod thingys in the last photo.
I'm with you, they creep me out!
Thanks for your comment and those little but things is what I was photographing when I found the spider...I'll do that post in a few days or so.
I like photography and I tried it for a while, but I don't know why my hand trembles, maybe I suffer from nervousness, the pictures you took are beautiful my friend, have a nice day.
A steady hand is certainly required for most photography.
Thanks for commenting, it's nice to hear you liked my photos.
It's great to know that you live in Australia, where there is one of the wildest ecosystems on the planet. In my case, I don't like spiders, but I don't hate them either. They play their role in nature. I'm reading your posts to learn how to write correctly in Weekend Experiences and right now I just learned things by reading your post. Thank you.
Yep, we have some pretty nasty stuff down here, a lot of which will kill you pretty quickly.
There's a posting guide in my weekend experiences community, pinned to the top of the post feed page, it pretty much explains everything.
Yes, I've already read that guide twice. But in this post I could see what you were referring to in that guide in terms of engaging the reader and how to motivate them. I also noticed that there are different types of weekend experiences.
Ah ok, sorry I misunderstood. My mistake.
It's a pleasure to learn from people who have come a long way.
This made me laugh...The first part, it is not at all a pleasure, means it's not enjoyable. I think you mean, it is a pleasure. No stress mate, I know English isn't your first language. I'm glad to provide some assistance, let me know if I can help.
Sorry it was my mistake not to check the translation. Sometimes the Deepl if you don't put the phrase correctly, it changes the meaning. The English is my second language, I understand it well enough, but some idiomatic phrases are not so easy to understand. Thanks for understanding jjjjjj and for your help.
It's ok, I was just pointing it out, I figured you'd like to know.
Of course it is. You warned me in time. One more experience captured.
😊
By the way your photos are great.
I appreciate that, it wasn't easy as this spider didn't want to sit still, but I tried. Thanks for commenting.
😊
I like your community, it gives free rein to write about our life. I understood reading the post, how to attract the reader, to interact. Also, the mechanics of writing you want to convey. I am happy.😆
Thanks, it's a fairly generic community and as long as content is weekend focused (Saturday and Sunday) most things are acceptable.
oh boy, he is cute. Good u left him back or else I'm sure the girl spider would have been mad!
Amazing shots!
Oh yeah, I didn't want to break up the love affair. Lol.
beautiful images, it's not just about having a good camera but an eye as a lens, I like photography as a hobby but I don't get to have that vision.
Gracias, esa publicación es de @galenkp, me gustó y la añadí a mis favoritas. Yo lo sigo a el en Weekend Experiences.
I haven't been doing photography for long and have learned a thing or two along the way. I don't think I'm good at it but I get a reasonable result now and then...The camera does all the hard work.
Ewww
These are beautiful but a little bit scary. I feel like these spiders will crawl out of the screen. And I really hate these creatures.
Yeah, spiders aren't my favourite things. Sorry my post is creepy, there's a few creepy people on Hive too, those who sit back and creep around in the background doing creepy things...at least you know what you'll get with my spider post though. #aspider
Well, I understand to some extent.
I figured you might.
Wow, I don't think I've seen a green spider before. I wouldn't touch it, let alone allow it to get close, but it actually looks cute. The color makes it seem soft and gooey. I also like how the legs translucent.
Huntsman spiders are a stuff of nightmares. I wouldn't even know what to do if I ever encounter one in a house. I've heard they're supposed to be harmless and helpful, but they scare the shit out of me.
It was pretty small so I touched it to get int into place on that stick...I figured if it was deadly and bit me, I'd be dead soon enough and it wouldn't matter...As it turned out, it was harmless...or maybe wasn't in the biting mood. Those Huntsman's though...Bloody creepy things...I'm not a fan of them...they sort of freak me out. They are harmless, the bite hurts a little is all, but they still freak me out.
Spiders, snakes all treated with respect, especially those tiny ones not able to identify, little bugger could mean end of you, kaput or a nasty bite to recover from...
Yep, and I think you Saffers have a few nasty beasties of your own!
You keep yours we will tolerate ours, problem most the time is lack of knowledge!
That seems like a good deal, and yes, it's all about having the right knowledge, if that's in place the risk is usually mitigated.
Some nasty small ones get you when you don't even know, have seen bites that really look awful!
Yeah, the white tail spider is particular bad for that. Horrendous wounds.
Flesh eating, yet powers that be want us to eat them now?
Lol, yeah arachnids and insects are the new steak and potatoes.
Over my dead body!
Yeah, mine too...although the way it's going they'd eat us too!
Such sick puppies running the world, embarrassed to call them human, would not insult animals either!
Yeah I agree. Humankind has kind of gone off the rails somewhere. I don't know how, when or why...but it's happened.
I've never seen a spider that color before, that is pretty crazy! I am not afraid of spiders, but we don't have many horrible ones here in Michigan. It's pretty rare that you see anything dangerous on either the snake or spider side of things. You have to worry more about bears here!
We have so many nasty critters here, but our bears are pretty cute...(Koalas.)
Indeed they are. Yeah, I don't think I could handle Australia.
Many say that, one gets used to it and a person can live reasonably safely in the cities. Spiders and snakes still, but less common. I think most people in the capital cities would have never seen a snake in real life that wasn't at the zoo. Going into the wilderness like I do is a different story, but with care and some understanding it can be safe.
That is probably a good point!
It's interesting and beautiful when you look at it, wow, that's really great 👍
Thank you, I appreciate you saying so.
wow...it's as green as my profile picture. That spider wants to celebrate Saint Patrick !!!!
The nature of my island is benevolent and we do not have poisonous bugs, we can sleep peacefully. I'm not afraid of spiders, none (at least the ones I know in Cuba) and that green one is very cool.
Thank you for returning him to his environment, he must be happy!!!💚❤️💚
No poisonous bugs there? That surprised me. How about snakes?
We do not have poisonous snakes, nor toads, nor scorpions. They are all good 😁 . A bite or a sting may hurt, just that.
Camping outdoors on this island is very safe. Well...you just have to be careful of some thieves 😉
I want to live there, sounds glorious!
Here, well just about everything can kill you...we make it work though and so far I've managed not to die. 😊
It's scary 🤭😁...
Here I am with my friends, in the middle of the Cuban rainforest. We slept with little protection, we bathed naked in the waterfall. It is not necessary to take care of any animals. There are no large predators either. There never were. This is certainly paradise. 💚
All those lovely images and my mind focused on, bathed naked.
OK, just kidding.
It looks cool! I've travelled the world and some of the best memories are places like this, natural places. Thanks for sharing.
💚💚💚🥂Cheers to natural spaces!!!
Spiders are Nice to see in photos but not nice to see in real life especially poisonous ones. As for spider stories don't really have any unless we counting spiderman :').
I used to like Spiderman, the cartoon back when I was a kid, but all the Spiderman movies are terrible.
oh I don't think I ever really watched that haha maybe I'm too young. I do remember like justice league, transformers, sonik, pokemon, yugioh, beyblade.
As for the movies, what made them terrible? did you not like the acting or probably how they altered the plot for the fans etc? I did think the no way back home was alright the one that involved dr strange
Yeah, it was in the 1970's.
I don't like how they cross-market the super heroes in a bid to make more money. I gave up on the DC and Marvel things, I have no clue what's going on in them, all those super heroes doing all that stuff...and along comes Thor. Nah, I'd rather watch paint dry.
that's way back. I'm not even born yet lol.
I see what you mean. That's pretty much what the movie industry' they just wanna make it for making the money. They have to hit certain kpis if im not wrong :(. Someone will be unhappy right~
Lol, I figured.
Like Fast and Furious. What are they up to now? Fast and Furious 97?
O.O i think they are on 11 lol. that ones a good example of making money but i never got interested in tha one just too many sequels and not much of a difference between them
I heard the next one is set in a nursing home and the cars are wheelchairs.
welp im not watching that xD and even without me they prob gonna have huge sales somehow
Yeah, and in time maybe you'll be in a nursing home and can live it for yourself.
xD dont jinx me. I don't think i can accept being in a nursing home. If I couldn't take care of myself anymore for the most part, then i think that would be the time for me to goooooo
Lol, I'm the same man. I'm not going there.
yaaaa and i wouldn't want a funeral either just burn me or bury me peacefully and move on
Viking burial...set on fire in a longship maybe. Sounds legit.
something that doesn't damage to the environment too much or cost too much resources or attracts too much attention lol. I feel like if someone did this it would be on the news and then would have the name of the person on the ship. just a simple burial will do or cremation and have the ashes scattered at famous parts of the world or something
Have you considered taxidermy?
i don't think I would do that. is that something you thought of doing?
Lol, no I was joking...well, being sarcastic is what it's really called.
oops i honestly thought u were serious at that time 😂 because I could see some attention seeker wanting to do that
No, I was joking for sure.
I see now i know xD maybe I'm too blur. I would've got it with some facial expressions or tone of voice but hard to get all that from just plain text
It's difficult in text sometimes.
Great captures of the Australian "mini" Universe! Since I don't have the proper light box or camera to capture with such detail this little fellows, I just have the opportunity of capturing them in my "occipital lobe" memory... Since with my mobile camera it's absolutely impossible to get this images.
Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it. I've seen far better images of insects, but for my first try I think it's ok...and the spider was super small, so my equipment struggled a little.

I really like your photos. A little green spider. And I really like what spiders do (those webs) fascinate me, like the lines of the train.
Jlinaresp recently shared photos of wet spider webs...a beauty. If you want to see them click here.
No, I haven't been challenged by a spider yet.
Spiders are pretty incredible arachnids and the web, one of the most amazing products nature produces. I don't like spiders though.
Ah, I would say the same about you. 😂
(edit) I hope you get the joke before it crosses your mind to downvote me.
You making jokes about me? 😂
Me too. Thanks.
They camouflage and remain dangerous.
Super hazards. They are experts.
They certainly do. This one looked at me with evil intent in its eyes.
The Only one I fear here on the Pookyville Cat Ranch...
The Black Widow
No worries about the man in her life bro. She kills him and eats him right after the first sex.
Of course these giant banana spiders are a little intimidating when you drive thru a giant web 🕸️ on your tractor and they are the size of a small bird...
Do you have these down there? The Widow and Naners?
You have a collection of deadly spiders in your garden.
Yep, we have the black widow...we call it the redback. Nasty little fuckers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redback_spider
We also have the banana spider/golden orb spider here, up in the tropics across the top of the country. Big ashsoles! Lol.
Here's our top ten. https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/topics/wildlife/2012/08/australian-spiders-the-10-most-dangerous/
Ayy! ✨
She is so beautiful!😍
Now that you mention it, I don't have any scary stories with spiders, here in Cuba there is no highly venous species to fear too much. I only remember one that is vulgarly called the hairy spider, it is a little bigger, black and the bite usually hurts a little. the rest go unnoticed, at least for me. hahaha
I had thought Cuba would would have a lot of spiders to be honest, I'm surprised a few have said there is not, and snakes too for that matter. Here in Australia, there's a lot of deadly things, but we all manage to co-exist I guess.
Good spiders there must be a lot of different species, I guess. What they must be small and since they are nothing to be afraid of, they go unnoticed. Snakes are not many either. I guess since it's an island everything is too small, so there's plenty to talk about. We have for example the smallest bird in the world, a frog that measures 1 cm and me. jajajajajajajajajajjaja
Just kidding, I'm not that short. jajaja
Lol, you're the world's smallest Dayi! Ok, maybe not the smallest, but there's only one of you and that makes you unique.
Exactly. It is the most amazing thing we have in this world, the specialty that each thing is unique.😉✨
Here in Cuba we do not have poisonous spiders. The most terrifying is the tarantula-like spider. They are expert hunters. Thank you for your comment.
