Fifteen stitches

avatar
(Edited)

Every moment I live is stitched into the tapestry of my life; the threads are colourful and vibrant with darker interspersed, and each represents a small part of my life. I'm stitching it together the best I can and creating a tapestry I can look back upon without regret, be content with and proud of.

- G-dog -

I was at somewhat of a loss a few days ago when thinking of something to photograph in macro; parts of my own body, came to mind but I thought I'd spare the blockchain the horror. Instead, I came up with stitches and here's fifteen images of the fifty seven shots I took. You might like to keep the thought that I'm not a photographer in mind as you scroll and I'm not representing these images as anything special, just some close up shots of stitches.

That's it folks, hopefully you didn't get too bored; getting a little bored is permitted though. I'll not get offended if you tell me these photos suck, so if you have any feedback you know what to do in the comments below. Also, if you guess every single one of the items I photographed here I have a special prize for you. I'm serious, just list what you think the items are in the fifteen shots, in order and you'll be special-prize eligible.

Thanks for taking a look folks, I appreciate it.

EDIT:

Ok folks, it's almost twenty four hours after posting these photos and it seems no one is getting close with their guesses so I'll just list what each item is for those who may still be interested.

  1. A Velcro patch that sits on the upper left arm of one of my camouflage jackets
  2. A ladies sun hat
  3. A designer rip in a pair of my gals jeans
  4. Stitching on my on my military boots
  5. Webbing section on my hiking boots
  6. A cushion
  7. Ladies underwear (my lady)
  8. A pair of my shoes
  9. Inside out sock (the outside of this stitching is a blue polka dot)
  10. A water bottle holder I sling around my shoulders when I hike
  11. A knitted bed socks (no, not mine)
  12. Brand name stitching on the rear pocket of my girls favourite denim mini skirt
  13. A Velcro patch that sits on one of my backpacks
  14. A sun hat
  15. Pocket stitching on my favourite jeans

Wow! 15 different stitches in different colors from different things. I don't have an idea what items are those but I will guess some. Is there a shoes in there? The brown one? A table top cover that white and looks like crochet.

Shoes ✅
Table cloth ❌

It was a good gues on the white lacy item though.

A good challenge for me but I want ask, Do you mean to guess the meaning behind each picture or the type of fabric or what?

Each image is a photo of a thing, item of clothing and so on. If you can accurately name the fifteen things I'll send you a prize.

I really thought you have a work incident where you got cut up.

15 stitches!!

Are you going to take up knitting?

Those shots are awesome. Are there any jackets over your shots? Any stitch of bags or hats? Stitches of a rope? or carpets? A lot of things come into my mind thinking of the different stitches you post. 😊

Hmm, there might be a jacket, but the item(s) photographed aren't the jacket. 😁

Remind me to kick you out when I'm sewing as you would bring me shame, highlighting all my sewing mistakes with your precise macro shooting 😂

You have some excellent shots here G-Dogula!

Lol, I'm developing my macro photography skills for exactly that purpose. I have a job lined up: sewing mistake inspector.

G-Dogula

Been a while since I heard this, but yeah, I am he.

Lol, I see I made a huge mistake, which is corrected now 😂. Need to pay more attention.

And yes, you're still G-Dogula and you'll get your portrait as well 😏.

Well, when I'm on the job Erikah, all mistakes will be found and reported to the sewing mistake police. With me on the job, nothing will slip by.

YOu know what they say right?

Once a G-Dogula, always a G-Dogula

Jesus!!! I'd better get my sh*t together as you're not joking. Now tell me, what are th punishments for those mistakes?

Yes on the second topic.

The punishments are many and varied from nothing more than a stern talking to from G-Dogula, to such medieval classics as branding, removal of body parts, burning (hard to come back from this one), standing facing the corner for 30 minutes and being sent to bed with no supper...You know, the usual.

I find it hard to guess what the pictures are. Hahaha
I think the first one is the flag of Australia
The sixth picture looks like a table mat but I am not sure. Those are the ones I remember
The thirteenth picture us an Australian based company

I think the first one is the flag of Australia

Obviously yes, by the question is what is it on?

The sixth picture looks like a table mat

Wrong.

The thirteenth picture is an Australian based company

Nightforce is exactly that, yes, but again, what is it on?

Thanks for having a few guesses though

I think you should be more kind to yourself. This layman thinks you did a very fine job with the photos. Seems you captured the detail of the stiches very well.

They came out ok huh? I say I'm not a photographer because I don't know what the buttons do (except the shutter) and have no real clue on framing a picture. I just do what feels right or looks ok to my untrained eye and that seems good enough for my blogs.

Thanks for your comment though, I appreciate it.

was expecting an open wound in macro!

Yeah, I figured that may happen, but couldn't think up a better title. Maybe I'll shoot myself in the leg tonight, stitch it, and get my girl-person to take some shots. If I do, watch out in the community for the photos. I'm going to title it:

I shot myself in the leg tonight, stitched it, and got my girl-person to take some shots

I'm actually getting some enjoyment out of these posts, the taking of the photos, which is what it's all about. I'm not sure what I'll do next, but I'm thinking on it.

Also, I get royalties from use of that gif of me sewing, every time it is used. Lol.

Thanks man, I'm glad you like them. That first one is a Velcro patch on one of my jackets. I've had that patch, or one like it for many years. It's a luck symbol for me. A talisman of sorts.

Greetings @galenkp. They are good shots but it's quite difficult to guess. I would say at least one is of a pant, a rug, a glove, an underwear, a coat.

All good guesses, you got one that everyone else got wrong. The ladies underwear. Everyone has been calling it a table cloth. Admittedly, that's what is looks like in macro. I'm going to list what they all are in about an hour in an edit to the post.

You did come up with something nice and you did justice to each of them. I missed reading your posts as there was a power (electricity) failure.

Looking at the stitches, I think there is leather, fabric, wool and. .... Haha... Geez

I'll not get offended if you tell me these photos suck

I particularly liked the 8th photo. I like macro and close-ups a lot. Especially when shooting all sorts of subjects in nature. When looking at this kind of pics it feels that a whole universe is to be discovered in a drop of pollen from a flower or a tiny bee landing on that flower.

All original and proudly AI free

I like that. I wonder for how long will Hive be able to face A.I. It feels like it is taking over everything and it amazes me how excited people are about using it. They don't even realize how many jobs this thing will eat up and how much it will change our lives(not particularly for the better).

As I wrote in a post not too long ago, one may be in the situation now of outperforming the majority of candidates on Fiverr or upworks, for example, by using AI, but at some point, they are all gonna be using it and competition will literally choke them.

A.I. to me is short-term gratification bundled in almost endless slavery for the future.

Anyway, I started by talking macros and close-ups and ended up pouring my frustrations regarding AI in your comments section...

Old habits die hard...

Ah yes, that's a photo of a pair of shoes from Italy I bought many years ago. I really love them and despite being a little worn out I can't seem to find the ability to throw them out.

On the AI thing, yep I hate it and can't understand how it's application is anything bad long-term bad for humanity. All those lost jobs you speak of is already happening and it'll get worse. When it reaches a point crime will rise exponentially and it'll become a strong survive situation to some degree. Luckily I have many guns, many thousands of rounds and the ability to use both. I know people scoff at words such as those, but its happened before, and still happens now in wars and conflicts around the globe. Humanity is self-destructive.

People are greedy and stupid applying AI concepts to their little microcosm worlds as it makes things easier for them, or they can earn a few Hive tokens for doing fuck all for it. Cunts.

The reality is that AI is a much broader thing than manipulating a few photos or some words.

This is me literally glaring at these stitches, trying to get a clue.

I think the white one is a table cover/ a cushion cover..

The one with nightforce should be some kind of badge. "Nightforce precision options"

Okay, I give up on the rest😅. I must say that you're good at concealing the identity of items.

Nope, not a table cover.

The Nightfirce patch is correct though, that one is quite obvious. Also, it's:

Precision optics, not options. They make rifle scopes.

All good photos. Playing around with macro photography is fun, isn't it?

The first one calls to mind a rant my Aussie buddy here always used to bring out after we'd had a few. He thought it was a crime that the Oz flag has the Union Jack on it. "We're our own country, not some dependent still sucking on the teat of Mother England" and so on. He had a lot of those rants. How do you feel about that flag debate?

0

avatar

I believe the country needs to honour and respect those who founded it, the British, brutal though they were.

I value tradition and was raised in an Australia where we celebrated those who brought our country into being, Captain Cook for instance. I descend from those sent here in chains, convicts sent to the Port Arthur penal colony and am proud of that fact, I feel it connects me to the land and it gives me a sense of true belonging. I don't feel any disgruntlement towards the British, they did what they did at the time, a couple hundred years ago, and that doesn't affect me now; I'm not one to lay blame and whinge about things, what we don't have, as other groups who exist here do; I prefer to value what we do have.

Having said that, I believe a flag more representative of the country in its current state may be advantageous. That places me in the republican over monarchy camp and should a referendum come to discard the monarchy I'd vote yes. However, any new flag would need to be representative of all Australians, and not just a minority group with string feelings of entitlement.

This won't make sense to you probably, what I allude to, as you're not here on the ground and apprised of the realities of the environment here. It's an answer to your question though.

avatar

Very interesting! I really enjoy hearing your opinion on that. I like learning about things of this nature.

You're right: I don't know enough of current events there to understand well. The only thing that comes to mind when you mention minority groups is perhaps more vocal aborigines groups. I would very much be curious to learn more.

I like when you say it should represent all Australians. I may not be aware of the finer details of Australian current events, but that might seem to echo American current events, where some minority groups feel they deserve more than what is fair simply because injustice was visited upon their ancestors. (While I do regard those past injustices as very unfortunate, I don't think that entitles them to being given an unfair advantage now)

Anyway, thanks for the great response. I really appreciate that.

I would very much be curious to learn more.

If you decide to seek it please ensure you seek it from sources that provide a balanced and factual view.

where some minority groups feel they deserve more than what is fair simply because injustice was visited upon their ancestors

I allude to this in my comment. I don't harbour ill-will, nor do I feel entitled to anything because some of my ancestors were unfairly (and brutally treated) in the 1840's. The death sentence for a maid taking a silver spoon from the employers house, commuted to transportation to port Arthur in Tasmania and twenty years of enduring beatings, rapes, lack of sustenance and basic human needs...Yeah, that happened and much worse to others. But no one alive on the planet did those things and I don't feel entitled to anything because of it, except to feel pride for the two ancestors who lived through it and triumphed.

I love Australia and have done much for it, given much. But I don't like the Australia that offers handouts to those who don't do anything for it, just because. There are many people here and all should be treated equally; holding one up over the rest, for any reason, is wrong. Shame on the government.
