Different but the same

We come in many different shapes and sizes, and we need to support each other and our differences. Our beauty is in our differences.

- Carre Otis -

YOU ARE A DISGUSTING PIG (2).jpg

You're different from me and I'm different from you; sometimes you're even different from that which you are at other times, and so am I. I like being different though, I embrace and encourage it within myself, because it's what makes me a more unique version of myself and through those differences in thought and attitude I can explore who I was and am, and who I could be, then make adjustments as required so I can proceed in my life...differently.

We're all the same too of course, you and I and everyone else on the planet, we're human, and we're all gathered together upon the Earth and therein lies opportunity in my opinion...the chance to embrace our differences, explore them, connect through them and journey through life somewhat more collectively; our differences shouldn't isolate us but draw us together...a one planet, one people paradigm I guess.

YOU ARE A DISGUSTING PIG (4).jpg

YOU ARE A DISGUSTING PIG (1).jpg

YOU ARE A DISGUSTING PIG (3).jpg

I was thinking about the difference between you and I earlier today...not you in particular, just me and everyone else, and how people perceive me. Unfavourably for sure, that's just human nature, but there's the opposite also. Some see my differences, and me in general, as something that adds value to them, their differences and life in general...and doesn't that mean those people and myself have become a little different within ourselves? I mean through the combination of two people's differences overlapping, influencing and effecting each other's lives. I think so.

Anyway, here's some pictures I took a little while back and I thought they supported my thoughts on the differences between the people on this planet and how those differences can combine into something quite beautiful.

If you'd like to comment below, I'd like to hear from you.

Comment about your own differences, what makes you you, how your differences blend and combine with other people in your life, how they meld together, or how they have kept you isolated. Feel free to comment on your thoughts about why some see other people and their differences negatively, or just comment on the photos or anything else you like - I always get back to those who comment.

We have different personalities and point of views in life. With that differences, we are unique.

Yes, that's almost exactly what I said in the post above, but thank's for saying it again.

Differences come in many shapes and form, knowing this makes life easier once able to face straight on. Meeting new people constantly reminds one of how many differences we have from childhood throughout life.

Preference always toward people who accept difference, with a touch of empathy in many cases.

Indeed, I agree completely. Unfortunately, people's prejudices get in the way sometimes and...well, we all know what happens then.

Well, it's true that everyone is unique in their own perspectives. If I talk of my own self it is my thinking, which makes me different from other people.
Like my thinking about you is that you are a very straightforward person.
But I am different, I sometimes avoid many things that come in my mind,
but I never say those thing because they might disheart the next person.

I agree, our thinking differentiates one from the other, as does upbringing, the style and location, and influences one has had around them.

I sometimes avoid many things that come in my mind,
but I never say those thing because they might dishearten the next person

This is one way to go, but to accept things that don't align for yourself, ethos, ethics and so on, just so you don't offend someone else is not healthy in my opinion.

Yup
But that's in your opinion.
Everyone has their own opinions and way of thinking. Which is helpful for them in their life

Yes, I actually say, in my opinion, in the actual comment. Maybe you didn't read that part.

I always read your full posts and comments.
I read that.
That's why I said that "it is in your opinion".

Be really worried when everyone loves you. Even Jesus was hated by many. The goal is to stay true to yourself and be kind to others. Life will be boring if we all were alike, I wouldn’t even marry a spouse that is exactly like me.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Jesus to be honest, if he even existed in the first place. As I said in this post, our differences should be celebrated, thanks for reiterating that.

It’s beautiful that human beings have the same features. However what makes a person them self is totally different from the next. People are shaped by experiences, expectations and belief systems. However how a person handles those independent items brings about the common ground that people and crops co exist on.

Beautiful shots! I'd love to get my hands on a better quality camera one day and play around with it. I should try and do that while my dad is still around to give me tips and pointers!

Thanks mate, I was pretty pleased with them. I played around with one of the flowers obviously, out the purple petal in and figured I'd see what happened; happily I got something decent.

I hope you manage to get a good camera and have a play around, it'll be a shame to leave it too late.

Yeah, for sure. I used to have a decent Nikon, but that was film only. I have a Sony at work, but I don't like using it for personal stuff too much. You did great with the shots!

@bozz I took videos (on the fly and nobody knew) of my grandparents and parents. I encourage you to do it because even though you cannot bring anyone back, a small reminder of what they used to say and even a laugh goes a long way when you miss someone.

This year, all my siblings are getting 2 videos for Christmas.

Usually people let it pass and then regret the missed opportunity. You are a great storyteller and memory maker! Buy that camera. You wont be sorry.

That's right, Galen, when I recognize the diversity in others, I am able to recognize and accept the diversity that is in me. Multiculturalism and diversity among human beings is a gift that makes us free, only if we learn to accept differences.

Being different and feeling at peace with one's own differences should be the common thing. Unfortunately, it's not yet, Galen. This is why there are so many wars and xenophobia.

I belong to cultural diversity, and I am proud of it.

Beautiful and very human post 💜🌺

Cultural differences are just the tip of the iceberg I think, there's many other differences that cause issues, ideology and religious to name two. Anyway, we all don't get along very well, and so wars happen. It will always be this way until we wipe each other out.

First I must tell you that those pictures are beautiful, I loved all of them, all of them, without exception, the mix of the two colours, it's fabulous!

Differences are indeed an opportunity, an opportunity to learn from each other and move forward together.

I consider myself different? Yes, I do. When I was in high school I was discriminated against for thinking differently, I was different, and I was isolated, for a long time I was a loner and I chose to keep quiet and keep everything to myself.

Not anymore, I believe that differences serve to enrich us. I'm glad we are not all the same, but from whom we learn to improve.

How am I different? Natural way of life, I prefer nature to a shopping mall, I don't like dancing, I prefer just enjoying music, I don't like big groups of people, I prefer small groups, ways of living and thinking (product of years of learning about things).

Well, then I am a witch, extra-terrestrial but I always say that because of the different way of thinking, I am not green. I prefer the natural to the artificial, the authentic, the truth.

I love every comment a challenge! Thanks Galen!

We all need to look at our differences as just who we are rather than comparing ourselves (those differences) against other people all the time. There's only one of us, we're unique and should respect that, learn to accept who we are and that we have a valid place in society. I guess some do not think that, seek to conform or comply to someone else's ideal or ideology and that's their choice...I think it's not a good one and is not conducive to a best-life scenario.

Thanks for your comments on my photos, I like them too.

These are life choices and accepting each other and each other is a big step.

My pleasure, I love that flower! I love it!😀

I love people who are different, who do nothing to fit in with a group or in society. Generally, I tend to appreciate these ordinary people a little more, because they are not common, in the sense that they don't get carried away by currents or social pressures, people have a side that makes them unique but few make an effort to find themselves and generally seek acceptance in society, and not in themselves, sooner or later these people will end up disappointed in the world and in themselves So, only those who are brave and decide to know and accept themselves as they are do not fall under social pressures because they understand that everyone is special for what they are and does not need to look like anyone because they have their own tributes, they are a happy person and more than happy , full of self love!

You say it well and there's not much to add I guess. People should be content with who they are, accept it, and not try to confirm to social convention to fit in.

We are all different in one way or the other. Even for the fact that twins look alike, they are still different in some aspects.
Nice write up!

I believe I am mostly true to myself no matter what situation I am in. In new situations I may observe a good while before I join in to whatever is going on. I don't know how different I am from the average person in general, Sometimes being myself makes me fit in nicely and other times it doesn't. If it doesn't, those are things I don't continue to be a part of.

I just made a generic answer.....LOL...

I don't let someone having differences from me keep me from being open to friendships.

I like your flower photos. Such happy colors together.

Sometimes it's the differences between people that draw them together don't you think. My partner and I are two completely different people in many ways and that keeps things interesting from a conversational aspect and activities too. Just an example.

Purple and yellow go together well don't they? Apparently purple is the only colour that matches every other colour, ornsonim told.

Thanks for commenting.

"Different but the same" is an interesting concept that can be interpreted in various ways. It suggests that despite our differences there are underlying similarities that connect us all.

With each coming day we are refining ourselves and in search of finding the best version of ourselves.
By your post I remembered one quote I don't know exactly but that was like
Nothing is constant but change

You're right, change happens no matter what we do, and I think a human has to change and adapt accordingly.

Your photos are always lovely and beautiful.
I think most people see other people’s difference as negative cause it’s new to them and they have a different mindset.
For instance, there could be a new student who is an introvert and keeps to herself, some students would think she is weird and grumpy cause of that difference in her.

Thanks, I try to take the best pictures I can with the limited skill I have, I guess sometimes I get it right.

People's personalities often get misinterpreted I guess, and you give a good example of one of the most common. People's perceptions are not always accurate I guess.
