Different - A posting concept

Not too long ago I was contemplating the differences that exist between people which prompted me to use the topic as the basis for one of the #weekend-engagement topics in the WEEKEND EXPERIENCES community. The question probed on whether people ever wished they were a different colour to what they were presently. A few answered it and there were some great posts on the topic which I appreciated.

Colour isn't the only thing that differentiates humans though, there's so many things.

Fat or skinny, tall or short. Smart or stupid, rich or poor, generous or selfish, good or bad. Opinionated or apathetic, religious or atheist, interesting or dull, creative or unimaginative, hubristic or modest, carnivore or vegetarian, loving or hateful, romantic or unromantic, imperious or humble, happy or sad, excitable or calm, practical or impractical...there's too many to list of course but I think you get the idea.

I thought it would be interesting to hear about your story...if you have one.

The topic prompt

Have you ever felt different and if so why, how did it impact you or your life and how did you overcome it or accept it?

Do this to get involved in the discussion and concept

  1. Post in the Reflections Community and follow community rules and do a minimum of 250 words.
  2. Drop your link in the comments of this post and summarise the post in 30 words or less.
  3. You'll earn the enjoyment of posting something of value and me and my brother @tarazkp will throw some votes around too.

I’ve always felt “different” growing up because I was too quiet and observant, while everyone else was loud and outgoing. It made me feel left out at times, but now I’ve come to appreciate it.

Being different sets us apart and makes us unique, I think that's something to be celebrated.

When I was a child my father left us, my sadness made me feel ugly, my hair is curly or bad and they cut it like a boy, the children made fun of me, I cried a lot, until I overcame the absence of my father, I understood that I had to move forward, and I became strong and tough.

That seems like an excellent learning experience and that you used it to become a better version of yourself. Well done.

That's how it really was, a better version of me was formed, the blows are our best teacher.
Thank you very much for the opportunity.

There was a time I used to let others opinions get to me due to my slim build. I later got to realize that I'm beautifully made, and this mindset changed everything. I have learned that building self-love is a journey that makes you overcome negativity and embrace your uniqueness.

Interesting... I was always different in almost everything and I felt bad about it at first, but not anymore. Now I feel great being different from the rest. I also read the comments. There are two days left to participate. Thank you very much! I hope you had a great day.

In our part of the world,we see a lot every day, we just have to be calm to understand each individual we meet in order to know how to properly relate with them and not allow anyone or anything tamper with our mental health or let people's word or character get to us or weigh us down. Most importantly love makes the world go round.

I did not get the chance to finish my post about the recent weekend engagement challenge. I was writing about "if I ever wished I had a different color" but got sidetracked by a lot of things that happened during the weekend.

This is probably my opportunity to continue and revise that article, and then add some more stuff in it.

Hi @galenkp, I have never felt so uncomfortable with my statutra, yesterday while running an errand, I felt different and strange because of my height, everyone was looking at me with curiosity , I hope to make my post soon and talk about it, I am still processing it.

For me I just now keep it to myself if I am not accepted by people if I am different from them. As I grow older, I learned that forcing myself to be with other people even if I am rejected by them is just wasting time... Live a happy life even if you're in your own for living a life according to standards set by other people will just lead to a miserable life.

Hi @galenkp, this is my first time here, as I wasn't familiar with your dynamics, but reading my friend @yolimarag I saw that with your weekend topics, where you already have #269, you help create content, so I wanted to visit and find out more, and I came across this other activity, where with your questions you help us get our hands on the keyboard, since who hasn't felt different? It happened to me a lot, so I'm going to study the community and get to work. Blessings 🤗

Nice, a new concept! Now, I have to choose which part of different I'd like to write about. As you point out, there are so many differences. Yet, some are clearer than others. Hm... I'll see tomorrow. Though I might be late to the game. Still, even without entering, it might be a good topic for a post in reflections, anyway. Will you write your own post about it?

It's a one off thing I think, I just thought it would be good to get people posting.

I think I might have a go at it but it'll have to wait until I'm back from this work trip I'm on so I have the time.

Makes sense, I hope you have time to do it then - I think it would be an interesting read.

In my view, being different doesn't pose a problem or barrier. However, whether we are accepted as we are depends on the mindset of those around us. Personally, I conclude that "being different" is a blessing, something useful and beneficial for our social being and the promulgation of objective ideas that contribute to the advancement of the world.

Hello, I have a few questions about the community. The rules say that I must write in English, so I usually write in English at the top and in Spanish at the bottom. I usually use the Spoiler command from peakd for the Spanish text. Can I do that here, or does it have to be in English only?

To translate my texts from my language into English, I use ChatGPT and grammatical AI to correct them, but everything is 100% written by me in my base language. Is that valid here?

Being polite doesn't mean you're not brave. I hope you can guide me. I've always wanted to write here, but I've stayed away because of the rules.

Besides, this catches my attention and I want to write about it.

Imagine going from being a loved and cherished kid to a person that disgust the same people that once loved you. Bad behaviours are a thing you won't want to incorporate into your life. Because when they become a habit, it might be difficult to change. This was my case. And I struggled to change it. It didn't take months but years of learning the hard way. I'm happy I didn't fall out while trying.
Today , I'm a better version of my self. Different from what I was seen as before.
