(Licania platypus) Sunza is a large, very delicious fruit.

Sunza is an exotic fruit that you usually won't find in markets because it's a wild fruit that's abundant everywhere in our region. It's an oval-shaped fruit, about 15 to 20 cm in diameter, with a large seed inside and a fleshy pulp about 3 to 4 cm thick. The pulp is orange-colored, sweet, and exquisitely delicious, protected by a yellowish-brown to green skin. If you look closely, you'll see that this fruit is highly appreciated by animals and some humans like us. Some people don't like it because of its hairiness.

Unfortunately, I don't have a fruit to open and show you, but inside, it has a lot of pulp, and sometimes the fibers get stuck in your teeth, which can be a bit uncomfortable. However, if you talk to a dentist, they'll tell you it's a wonder because if you have dental problems, you can use it as a substitute for dental floss, and it'll give you a deep cleaning of your teeth. Its flavor is sweet like honey, exquisitely appetizing, which is why it's highly appreciated.

It comes from a giant tree, about 20 to 25 meters tall, with large, wide leaves that provide shade and protection for many animals. Recently, in my region, about 10 years ago, there was a whole line of these fruit trees on a community-owned land. Unfortunately, someone came along and, driven by ambition, cut down all the trees. This was a gathering point for people who would stop there after their agricultural work to chat, converse, and rest, and, of course, enjoy a delicious sunza to satisfy their hunger while they got home.

Unfortunately, this area has been eliminated because the person cut down the trees, sold the wood, and didn't bother to plant new trees. Recently, I found a sunza tree loaded with fruit, and I was thrilled to see it. The fruit grows in clusters, and many are wasted because, as I said, they're so abundant that many people don't appreciate them. Maybe it's because they're not highly valued in the market, and you can't go sell them because few people buy them due to their abundance.

I loved seeing the tree full of fruit and thought I'd come back to enjoy it, but unfortunately, it didn't work out due to time constraints. So, I'll leave you with this information. Enjoy these images, and please remember to protect our Mother Nature, our treasure, which provides us with food, medicine, protection, and helps our wild flora and fauna survive. Many little animals feed on its fruits and find protection within its roots.

Thanks for visiting, and remember, this is original content, including photos.
