The Real Classic Cars Of Transylvania

When it comes to cars, I don't really have a lot of knowledge to open up a detailed conversation on this field other than recognizing most of the brands. But what I know for sure, is that since I was a kid I loved cars in all their forms no matter if it's a classic, a hybrid, a supercar and so on.

So while I don't own my car yet and perhaps when the moment comes it will be a complete mess picking my favourite since I usually find something unique for each model seen, I satisfy my guilty pleasure by taking part in as many rallies, championships and exhibitions as possible. Obviously, as a spectator.

One that has a bit of each category mentioned above, is Transylvania Classic Rally which I managed to attend every single edition since I moved to Sibiu, and which proved to me countless times that is, perhaps, the largest such event of cars from my country, where tens of vehicles of all kinds roam the roads of Transylvania for a couple of days, but also fulfil the old town of the city by being parked and left as exhibitors for the curious ones passing by.

The picture from above is quite generic, focusing more on the whole atmosphere and how the place looks like before taking a closer look at some of the cars presented at the edition from 2023. But even like that, we still have two classics: Mercedes Benz 230CE (1992) and Citroen Xantia Activa (1998).

Fiat 124 Spider (1980)

Not sure which one is your favourite but for me the TVR 3000M saved a special place in my heart along with the interior design that looked stunning. I think that's also one of the best proofs of what makes the difference between a collector and a passionate.

Those old cars had real character, goddammit! Look at the curves and different shapes and colors. Today we only see black, white and gray, at least around here. I used to love cars, but they are so boring nowadays. My favorite here is the Porsche and that BMW -- still prefer American classics, but those two won me.

I'm a fan of American Cars too, but wouldn't say no driving one of these attached to this post. Classics used to have such a refined design that is hard not to enjoy them even in 2024.

refined design

That! And they all looked unique and different from one another. Today's cars all follow a trend a look alike, which is a hella boring

No Mustang ;) so from this bunch, I must go for TVR too, but maybe because I have a friend who works in a garage specialising in TVRs 🤷 - I guess reason is as good as any 😊

I'm a fan of Mustangs too, but they usually don't attend this event. There are some other events held in town which are full of Mustangs but for now we have to enjoy some other classics too.

Nice pick with the TVR! Your friend must be so lucky to admire these cars so closely 😄

back in the day, these were proper gorgeous cars, built to look good, nowadays the modern cars just all look the same to me and all kitted out with fancy IT gadgets yeuch!

I feel you on that! Even though I like seeing life evolving, I feel like uniqueness is slowly lost on the day, especially when it comes to cars.

Those old cars are usually strong and that’s one thing I love about them
Also, I love the first and fourth one because they are Mercedes products
That’s my favorite brand

Nice pick! Mercedes is a great brand for sure even though I'm not a big fan of it overall.

Mercedes Benz 230CE (1992) you mentioned and shown is also known as TANK in our country (Pakistan) because of its built quality and durability.

A few more parts from the same event are coming up soon. As it was hard to present all the cars in a single post 👀
