It's been already almost two months since we kicked in 2024, so there are plenty of new opportunities to work on yourself, your future, and your habits that can turn either into a passion or lead to some paths that you never thought about before.

But while (re)discovering ourselves and improving our lives is a continuous game, a new year also brings plenty of festivals or new editions of those that are undergoing. I am aware that summer is still pretty far away but it remains the main season that brings a lot of festivals in town, so today I decided to share one more piece from last year's edition of FITS.

Important NOTE: This is a continuation of the previous posts as the whole event was split into more parts, so if you want to see the previous shows make sure to check them out by accessing the list posted at the end of the article.

8. The Parade of the Living Statues

Photo_1702982063608.jpg

The parade was actually not part of the schedule published by the page of the festival, so we felt blessed to catch up with all the teams from the Living Statues team which involves tens of Romanian students practicing theatre shows around Romania whether they are studying theatre at university or not.

Some of the teams were also part of the previous edition of FITS but this year were a lot more and had shows almost daily along the ten days of the festival, managing to attend some of them on the first day that was shown in the previous post.

Along with the costumes that no doubt caught a lot of attention from the people on the streets, the best part of everything is that they are all handmade by the ones wearing them and every student manages to reproduce a famous theatre show in a different way than the classic one, already saying a bit of the story through the costume.

9. Ars Romana - artistic moment and re-enactment

Photo_1702982243087.jpg

If you are passionate about history and Roman Dacia costumes, then most likely this one will seem familiar to you. For me, it was an even greater honor to see this show having Dacia's beginnings in my home country, but I was fascinated even more to see all the costumes including Romans, as well as traditional wedding ceremony clothes used at that time.

The whole show is held by the Castrum Novis Association and illustrates aspects of the ancient daily life of Roman Dacia, both military and civilian.

The show began with a parade of the legions who stopped from time to time for military scenes and ended reproducing an ancient wedding and a military ceremony dedicated to the supreme gods, Jupiter Optimus Maximus, and Mars Invictus.

10. Electric Perspectives

Photo_1702982077082.jpg

Along with the show representations of many styles and genres, there are always a few installations that people can visit throughout the festival, one of them being Electric Perspectives.

From my experience with this festival, the installations that are usually placed around the center of the town don't require a specific period of the day to see them, but this time things were quite the opposite since if you've visited this place during the day, there was literally nothing to see.

Either way, the installation was one of the explanations of what means when culture and art meet each other, reproducing an electrifying atmosphere of the music festivals Romania shelters, crafting a path of lights and shadows.

We first noticed the installation during the daylight which made us figure out what was going to represent once the night set. So we postponed the moment until we were able to fully enjoy it. We also faced heavy rain and that's why I was wearing a raincoat, but overall I was happy to manage to capture this moment that even if it wasn't interactive in any way, it was still fun.

11. Arrived

Photo_1702982262151.jpg

The first proper artistic moment of the day was presented by Adrian Schvarzstein and Juratè Sirvytė-Rukstelė who even though includes migrations, exiles, and newcomers as the main theme, everything was reproduced in a very funny way provoking and making people laugh by creating absurd and surreal situations.

Basically, the two were coming from a not-so-distant past and tried their best to live the present day while reproducing an image of their family with people from the audience. There was no choice from this part of the audience as they were literally grabbed by the two and placed in the right spot stirring funny situations like holding a different wife than yours, meeting some unknown grandchildren, and more.

This was actually one of the moments that even if it was very minimalistic and done with the help of those passing by, it still stirred a lot of laughter and good time for anyone in the crowd. And it did represent one of the best moments from the whole festival for me too, being a person that is not easy to make laugh.

12. The Funny Thieves

Photo_1702982067835.jpg

I think everyone is used to the funny and ridiculous thieves that no matter what their intentions are, they always end up in funny situations for others and show how bad they are at this action that puts them in a rather silly shadow than a scary one.

This was exactly the theme of the show that improvised most of the show based on the surroundings, the people around them but also the things they got their eyes on for stealing, no matter if it was a dog, a kid, jewelry, or even money!

Along with the loud laughter, this show reminded me that streets exist to be inhabited and enjoyed collectively and despite the material things that at first might seem like being very important to us, once they are gone we begin living the real life which most of us tend to forget about.

This was also another good comedy show but which I managed to admire more from the distance since the crowd was becoming bigger and bigger and the main target was the younger audience. Either way, I still enjoyed the show and managed to catch up with plenty of funny situations that stole another smile from me.

13. Red Code for Acrobatics

Photo_1702982074094.jpg

While I usually have in my head a well-determined description for each of the shows I attended, this time things are a bit different because I feel like the image describes more than I would ever manage to do through words.

What you see in the images represent just a little part of the whole show held by a vertiginous circus whirlwind where acrobats, dancers and aerialists intertwine and overlap until they provoke a visual eruption.

Despite the show that we can easily consider in the Top 3 representations held at the 30th edition of FITS, I was also impressed by how well everything was coordinated this time, talking about a pretty large team of people performing acrobatics but where each had a very well determined role that supported the others in one way or another.

The thing that I think made this show more unique than the others the French team helds around the world, was represented by the heavy wind and slow rain that made things uncertain and raised the level of danger even more. Happily, everything ended up safe and in a big hug while being covered by lots of confetti and loud well-deserved applause.

14. Flamenco Fusion

Photo_1702982153552.jpg

Last but not least, the show brings together three traditional dances of Spain mixing stylized dance, bolero, and flamenco in a single event.

Through the three completely different styles presented, both the dancers and the musicians managed to achieve the perfect fusion and evoke three different ways of feelings.

For me it was a very passional moment that took us through the essence of Spanish traditions which I always wanted to see performed but failed terribly during my stay in Barcelona, so it felt like a bliss to finally manage to attend one, yet on the territory of my home country, Romania.

Hey there! I was a bit away for a while and I hadn't realized that you have created this community until now. What a great idea, congratulations for this initiative, with the great details that you share these events, it doesn't seem strange to me that you needed a specific space to focus more on it. Sorry to be late to congratulate you for this great idea, but I mean it sincerely, it is a huge contribution within the blockchain and a lot of work that requires a great deal of commitment. Best of luck!
