Cars of Vienna, Austria

A thing that I believe way too few people pay attention to when exploring a new country is cars. I'm saying that not just because I am a passionate person when it comes to vehicles in all their forms, but also because I consider them very suggestive when it comes to the culture of a new place explored.

I didn't get the chance to explore lots of foreign places other than my homecountry, Romania, but what I did observe from my first hours spent in a new country, is that, not just the architecture, the language, the food and the fashion style make a great way showing the difference between our cultures, but also the cars.

And the first place where you can see some major changes is in the old towns of a city, or those places which are usually popular with tourists, because we all know that some unique and interesting (sort of) vehicles are going to catch one's attention. As examples, you might remember the gondolas from Venice or the retro cars from Prague.

When it comes to Vienna, though, things are a bit different because it has a very big contribution to the globe's history, and hence, the popular 'vehicles' for tourists couldn't be something else but the actual carriages that were so popular a few hundred years back.

I have never ridden a horse, nor been in a carriage before, but honestly, I really enjoyed seeing all these carriages in pretty much all parts of the city, especially that the horses were very well taken care of, and even the coachmen seemed like part of a different age.

Anyway, along with the carriages that were a delight to my eyes, I couldn't stay away from observing some proper vehicles that caught my attention at first sight.

None of the brands of cars present in this post are strangers from what we have in Romania, but the little Mazda and Mitsubishi cars I'm more used to seeing in competitions, vehicle exhibitions or racing games rather than going down the streets.

At the opposite pole, there were this Mustang and BMW, which seemed a little bit closer to modern times.

While the Ford Mustangs are quite rare in the city I'm currently living in, I could see these very often during my stay in Bucharest. But despite seeing them more often or not, I still believe they represent a great looking car that one could never get bored seeing, or even driving.

A similar situation is also with the modern BMW model in my last picture, which is definitely something else from what you usually see in terms of BMWs. And that comes from a person who was never a fan of this brand of cars.

My favourite is the gracious old carriage, beautiful!
But, I'll have that sleek black sports car, imagine travelling in that!
I was fascinated with the bicycles in all shapes and sizes when in the Netherlands, I think I did a post on it, must check, otherwise it's time I did!
I hope you're keeping well, have a great weekend Gabriela <3

I loved the carriages as well. Now I sort of regret not having one of those rides!!
I'm not the best, sadly it's a very critical situation in Romania right now with the presidential elections going on, but I keep my fingers crossed to have everything end in the right way.
Hope you have a great weekend ❤️
