Starting the year with a spontaneous trip to the beach

Greetings to all members of the community, how are you? Since I arrived to Margarita Island I have not gone to enjoy the beach, it seems incredible but simply the opportunity had been running away from me because my family has been busy with the many preparations for the Christmas season and we wanted to save money, deciding not to plan activities that would involve additional expenses. However, I had been telling my family a few days ago that I wanted to go to the beach on January 1st to remember those old times, here in Venezuela it is a very usual plan to start the year, people love to take a bath in salt water, we personally have not made it a family tradition, but we did make several trips to the beach on this day in previous years.

They say that plans that happen spontaneously sometimes turn out better than those that are planned in detail... I am too attached to my procastination to accept this conception, but precisely this has been one of the problems that I have had regarding learning to enjoy life, after having a vision of how I would like events to develop I find it hard to get out of that, to open myself to the range of possibilities that do not have to be bad just because they were not what I had planned at the beginning. The idea was to go to the beach a few days after welcoming the new year so we could plan what we would eat and where we would go of all available beaches, since the tides has been a little rough, but I guess we just couldn't resist the urge.

The atmosphere for the New Year's Eve celebrations was so lively that my relatives and neighbors decided to go out to the beach against all odds, I found out about this plan early this morning when I woke up because at one point during the early morning I got too sleepy, I ended up throwing the towel to go to sleep. My parents had already told me that they were not going to go because they were tired, something that is understandable because they were dedicated to the preparation of the food for our New Year's Eve dinner, plus they helped my godparents preparing their pork leg because in their case the oven does not work, which meant a double work. It's a pity because I love that they are enjoying with me when it comes to family outings, but I know they will be on the next occasion.

The beach we decided to go to is called El Yaque beach, one of the most popular on the island, which is why I was not at all surprised that it was packed with visitors just today. For this reason we settled in a part of the beach that to tell the truth is not very well known because it is small and has no rental awnings to hide from the sun, a detail that we did not mind because we did not intend to stay for long, plus the shade of the trees in the surroundings was enough to not be so long in direct contact with the sun because it could burn our skin too much. There were some family groups enjoying the beach but the space was enough for everyone to be comfortable without having to crowd together as many were on the other side.

Let's be spontaneous!
I enjoyed the feeling of the sand on my feet and the freshness of the salt water, the beach was not as calm as in other opportunities but it was calm enough to be in the water enjoying a good conversation. I'm glad I decided to come with my family, especially because I was in the company of my maternal grandmother because I had a long time without coming to the beach, I was a little nervous about it, but for our luck everything turned out excellent, I even got a beautiful shell in the sea, although I like the stones that can be found in these places the most. I have in mind to continue giving myself the opportunity to enjoy these spontaneous moments of life because I have realized that this is a big part of what living well is all about, knowing how to appreciate what we don't plan for.

Thank you so much for reading my post, I hope to meet you here in a next opportunity.

I was happy to see El Yaque beach again. Those outings are great. I'm not so much worried about what we'll eat, but who can bring a good sunscreen. I easily change color with little time exposed to the Caribbean sun. Maybe you will have another chance to have those loved ones join you soon. Greetings @gabrieladifazio
I am beginning to believe that there is no sunscreen good enough for the beaches of Margarita Island. The sun here is something you don't believe, many underestimate its power when going out to the beach and end up with their vacation ruined by sunburn.
