So I am guessing there is a lack of mice / rats there for her to feast upon. That has to be a rarity in South East Asia. here in Danang I'm pretty sure they outnumber the population at least 2:1.

I think there are plenty here, enough villagers throwing trash everywhere for it. However, because we are not in a city, there are so many escape routes and places to hide. The tall grass is almost as impenetrable as a wall, so when I cut grass Meow often watches and waits for any new openings. I once saw a doc stating that Cambodians sell rats to Vietnam for a higher price than they command in the local market. Apparently the Vietnamese don't like to eat urban rats, but prefer big fat countryside Cambodian rats.
haha, i have never seen anyone eating a rat but who knows what goes on in the countryside. I have only been there a couple of times. I'm envious at times that you get to live there.
