Indoor Garden Update

avatar

Hello Everyone,

I've been away from blogging for a while because of some things going on in my life that took precedence.

The weather is getting nice in New York and the indoor plants have been doing really good!

I've been missing all my friends here and creating posts for the Hive blockchain, so today I motivated myself to start back up again.

Let me get right into it with sharing some photos from one of my vegetation tents.

Bubblegum Variegated Tradescantia

This plant displays a vibrant purple color, and blossoms beautiful little flowers during bloom.
The bloom on this plant was a few weeks ago, so the above photo was not taken this morning, but it was such a breathtaking capture to me that I decided to share in this post.

I have some bamboo growing, and recently 3D printed a propagator box that is currently helping a Pothos Vine clipping along with its rooting process.

I have some cannabis growing right and there will be more content on the way with flowering cannabis plants as well!

Variegated String Of Hearts (Pink)

This is a very special plant to me.

I bought it off eBay within the past year, and it's grown a lot, as well as produced albino hearts.

I attribute the albino variegation possibly to Spinosad application, a soil bacterium that I applied to eradicate pests. I do not know for sure if the Spinosad pushed the variegation further but I will run experiments in the future. The white hearts are attractive but must be monitored because they're not effective at photosynthesis and can be destructive to the plants health. Luckily new pink growth is emerging beyond the white, so I'm not overly concerned about it. It's actually very attractive aesthetically.

I have a new macro lens that slips onto my smartphone, so I decided to try my hand at some macro shots of the Pink hearts.

That will do it for the photographs today.

Thank you to all my friends who reached out to me to make sure I was ok while I was away, you're all amazing and I love you all.

What do you all think of these plants I'm currently growing?

I would love to read your thoughts in the comment section!

Have a great day! -@futuremind

Nice to see you posting again. You have so many cool plants in the tent. Can’t wait to see your cannabis plants flowering and the pictures you take with the new lenses.

Thank you brother,
I also got a jewelers loupe that I'm going to try in conjunction with the macro lens. I might be able to get super close, will need to tripod up for sure.

Excellent macro shots! Some of those plants look unreal at this stage of growth, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say you 3D printed them. Great to see you back riding the #hive wave.

Thank you @litguru, it's great to see you!
These baby tendrils are quite small indeed, and was thinking the same that they look almost artificial, that shiny plastic look.
I might be able to get even closer than this, I'm experimenting.

Hope all has been well with you.

Happy to see you're back on Hive and looking forward to posting. That lens looks like it works great. I'm looking forward to seeing the trichomes with the lens.

Thank you my friend!
It's great to be back.
The lenses are able to capture acceptable trichome shots.

Thank you bro,

Bubblegum tradescantia! Thank you! I have one of these beauties, and I did not know what it was. The colors are spectacular, I didn't know it would flower, and has not yet.

Looking really good, as always!! I'm so glad you are back!!!

Thank you for the kind words @owasco!
That's really cool you have one of these as well, and I'm happy I helped you identify it!
They are pretty tricky to maintain in this climate. I had them in a 12 hour light cycle to induce flowering, now they are in 24 hours of light and I'm cloning them.

I'll try to stay regular here with my posting here.

You seem to know the actual names of plants I only know by names my mother gave them, like tradescantia and pothos. Glad you're back posting, and that you're still growing and printing.

Thanks!

It's good to see you @valued-customer!
Thank you for the kind words.

I'm trying to understand the plants on a scientific level.
I think science reveals a lot of answers to our reality.

Plants help with this.

Thank you!

It's actually very attractive aesthetically.

Yes. The wetness of this pink blossoms from the macro shots appeal very much to me. The micro cosmos is as vast as the macro.

We have a long-lasting plant lice infestation and I guess we really need to mix up a solution to get on top of the situation. Otherwise we will have to throw the plants away. Meh.

Thank you @erh.germany!

Indeed there's something very appealing about the wetness of the pink blossoms lol ;D

Oh no :(
Have you tried any remedies to try to eradicate?
Hopefully you can restore the plants health.

Have you tried any remedies to try to eradicate?

Nope. Was too late, when investigating the situation a bit closer. We threw the plants away. Next time, we will try the ash from burnt wood, a bit of dishwashing liquid, put it in a bottle and spray on the leaves.
We were away for two weeks in Denmark. Growing plants inside with such different temperatures is truly difficult. I am almost giving it up.

I've been wondering if you were alright Jacob (@futuremind) I hope all is well, now that you are back.
That purple and green variegation plant, I THINK we grew up calling it a "Wandering Jew" because any little piece that falls to the ground will root and spread.
Everything looks great tho my friend.

Hi @jerrytsuseer!
Thank you for stopping by!
I'm doing alright, been through some crazy things in life, but my struggles are not much different than everyone else's.

I'm trying to make a blogging comeback, and am slowly catching up on everyone's blogs.

I THINK we grew up calling it a "Wandering Jew" because any little piece that falls to the ground will root and spread.

That's a common reference to the plant. My guess is you're correct with that assessment.

Hope you've been well my friend, I'll be stopping by your blog soon! 🤗
