Slow Growth, Precious Progress

For this morning walk, I only had a quick time around the backyard because I just wanted to check on some of the plants. Even though it was a simple walk, I still found something that caught my attention and made the morning more meaningful. I noticed that the big yucca plant now has new sprouts growing from its main trunk, and I found that really fascinating.

What makes it more special to me is that yucca is such a slow-growing plant. It is not the kind of plant where you easily notice progress in just a few days or even a few weeks. Because of that, seeing new growth on it feels very precious. It reminds me that some things take a long time before they show visible change, but that does not mean nothing is happening. Growth can be quiet, slow, and almost invisible at first, yet still very real.

That is one reason why I wanted to photograph it. In black and white, the textures of the trunk, the sharp leaves, and the small new sprout all stood out so well. There is a strong contrast between the old and the new, between the roughness of the trunk and the freshness of the growth. I really liked that part because it felt like the plant was telling its own story.

I think life can be very similar. We cannot always expect to reach our goals in a matter of days or weeks. Some goals are simply too important and too big to happen that quickly. They deserve time, patience, and steady effort. Just like this yucca, progress may seem slow, but that does not mean we are not moving forward.

Sometimes, the most meaningful growth is the kind that takes years to fully appear. And when it finally does, it feels even more valuable.

Have a good day ahead!
