Simple Flowers, Calm Morning

This week the weather finally looks like it wants to be kinder. Last week it felt like it was raining almost every morning, which made it a bit difficult for me to go out and take photos. I still tried, but many times I was either rushing between showers or stuck under shelter watching the rain fall too heavily to shoot anything properly.

Of course, rainy days also have their own charm. Some of the photos from last week turned out quite dramatic because of the raindrops clinging to leaves and petals. I like those moody shots, but I was starting to miss the feeling of a calm, dry walk with my camera.

So today, with the nicer weather, my photos feel a little lighter too. I spent some time with these small, mundane flowers that people usually walk past without a second glance. In real life they are a bright yellow, almost cheerful, but I decided to convert them into black and white.

Without the color, the petals stand out against the dark leaves with strong contrast. The flowers suddenly look more elegant and quiet, like they’re floating on a sea of dark foliage. I enjoy how a simple change like removing color can completely shift the mood of a very common subject.

It makes me wonder if the rest of the week will continue like this—better weather, brighter photos, and more chances to slow down and notice small details.

For now, I’m just glad I got to spend a peaceful moment with these little blooms.

Have a good day ahead, everyone.
