Ripples in the Rain
There was a heavy rain earlier this morning, and for a moment it felt like the weather was trying to cancel my usual walk. But I didn’t want to skip it, so I still went out anyway. I just made a few adjustments, wore my slippers instead of my running shoes, brought my umbrella, and of course I still carried my camera with me.

Since most of the ground was wet, I decided to focus on the water itself. I found a small pond where the raindrops were still falling from the leaves and roof edges above. Every drop that landed on the surface created circles, bubbles, and little explosions of texture. There is something very satisfying about just watching those ripples expand and collide with each other. It feels like the water is constantly drawing new patterns for a short moment and then erasing them again.
Photographing them was not easy because the bubbles pop almost immediately. I had to keep clicking the shutter and hoping I would catch the right moment when the bubble was still round and shiny. Sometimes I missed, but sometimes I got lucky and captured some really nice ones.
I converted the photos to black and white to emphasize the reflections and movement on the water surface. Without color, the lines, shapes, and tiny details of the ripples become more dramatic. I arranged four of my favorite shots in one frame, like a small collage of different moments from the same pond.
It was a simple walk, but a good reminder that even on rainy days there is always something interesting to see and capture.
Have a great day ahead.
