Nature’s Small Wonders

This morning felt a bit like going on a treasure hunt, but not the kind that involves gold or precious stones. The treasures I look for these days are much quieter. They sit on tree trunks, rest on the grass, or hide in between blades of leaves, waiting for someone with a curious eye to notice them.

While walking, I found a fungus growing on the side of a trunk. For many people it might look ordinary, or even something to ignore, but to me it is a beautiful subject. The lines, curves, and layers become more dramatic when I convert the image to black and white. It turns into a little sculpture that nature carved slowly over time.

On the ground, fallen flowers were resting gently on the turf, still holding on to tiny water dew on their petals. I like how simple they are, just lying there as if they already accepted that their moment on the branch is over. Yet even in that stage, they still look graceful and photogenic, especially when seen up close.

I think that is the fun part of photography for me right now. It trains my perception. The more I walk with my camera, the more I realize that treasures are everywhere. They just don’t always sparkle. Sometimes they are a piece of fungus, a fallen flower, or a few drops of water catching the light.

Have a great day ahead, and may you find your own little treasures in the ordinary things around you.
