Nature’s Reminder in Black and White

Sometimes life has a way of pressing down on you. Not always in a dramatic way, but in small moments, when you feel stuck, when plans don’t work out, or when you suddenly start questioning where you are in your own story. On days like that, it’s easy to let negativity take over, especially when you’re already tired.

But I’m thankful that I’ve been blessed with a strong soul, one that refuses to stay in that dark place for too long. I’m not saying I never feel down, because I do. The difference is that I’ve learned to look for something simple to hold on to. A small reminder that life is still good, even when it doesn’t feel perfect.

That’s where photography helps me. It slows me down. It forces me to observe instead of overthink. And today, that reminder came in the form of this flower.

I captured it in black and white, and somehow that made it feel even more meaningful. Without color, the details stand out more, the soft folds of the petals, the way light touches the surface, and the quiet contrast between the bloom and the darker background. It looks calm, steady, and beautiful… the exact opposite of what negativity tries to convince us life is.

Nature doesn’t try too hard. It simply exists, and in doing so, it quietly teaches us how to keep going. Maybe that’s the lesson today: even when things feel heavy, we can still choose to appreciate the smallest of things.

Have a good day ahead.
