Flowers in full bloom
My morning walk is slowly turning into a more productive routine, not just for my body but also for my eyes. I’m starting to get better at spotting flowers that look interesting in black and white. It’s funny how, once you switch to that mindset, you stop looking for colors and start looking for shapes, textures, and little imperfections instead.

Today I focused on flowers with softer light falling on them. I’ve realized I really like subtle lighting. When the sun is filtered by clouds or trees, it creates this gentle transition between highlights and shadows. That makes it easier to control the exposure and avoid those overburnt spots that I really don’t like in my images.
With this softer light, the petals feel more tactile. You can see the wrinkles, the folds, and the tiny veins without losing detail. Even the aging or slightly damaged parts of the flowers become interesting, almost like they’re telling a quiet story. In black and white, those “flaws” turn into character.
Balancing contrast and texture has become my little morning challenge. Too much contrast and the details disappear into pure black or white. Too little and the image looks flat. Finding that middle ground where the flower still looks soft but defined is very satisfying.
These photos are small results from that practice, and I’m happy with how they turned out. It feels good to start the day creating something, even if it’s just a few simple frames of flowers along the path.
Good morning everyone, and have a great day ahead.
