A Flame Along the Walkway

Some days, I head out with no real plan—no subject in mind, no checklist—just me, my camera, and a walk. Today was one of those days.

I wandered aimlessly, letting my eyes lead. At first, I didn’t expect much. But that’s the thing about going out with no expectations—you end up noticing things you might’ve missed otherwise.
Tucked along a quiet path, I saw a small candle burning, with incense sticks slowly releasing smoke into the air. The soft flame, the faint curl of smoke—it all felt so peaceful. Simple, quiet, and kind of beautiful.

It struck me as a tiny ritual happening right out in the open. Nothing flashy, but impossible to ignore once you saw it. So I stopped and took the shot.

Lately, moments like this remind me that photography isn’t always about finding something dramatic or “important.” Sometimes it’s about paying attention.

Letting the ordinary catch you off guard.

That unplanned walk turned out to be the most mindful part of my day. No script, no destination—just a reminder that if you stay open, even the most familiar places can surprise you.
