A #BeautifulSunday morning spent at the Upper Seletar Reservoir Park
There’s a place in Singapore that has never changed yet it has become a popular spot for wedding photography. It’s the Upper Seletar Reservoir Park.
This morning, I set out on a stroll to check this place and see how it has been since I last visited it back in 2012. I just realized that it’s been a decade since I last went to this place.
My stroll started from the Springleaf MRT station. From exit #3, I walked along the Upper Thompson Road towards the direction of Mandai Road. It took me a 15-minute walk to reach the intersection of the road. I saw the Mandai Pet Sanctuary which serves as a rescue center for pets.
A monitor lizard that I saw along the Upper Thompson Road.
From here, I continued my stroll to reach the Mandai Road Track 7 which will lead the way to the Upper Seletar Reservoir.
This is the first time that I’m walking along this route so I’m a bit confused and doubtful. Most of the time, I was checking the map to see if I was being led to where the reservoir was. The other thing that made me doubtful was the lack of sidewalks on either side of the road.
(On both sides of Mandai Road Track 7 is the Mandai Executive Public Golf Course.)
At the intersection of Mandai Road and Track 7, I found the road that leads directly to the reservoir park.
Even though I felt exhausted from the stroll and the road was sloping against me, I kept going until I reached the spot where there was a small park near the lookout tower.
After a minute of rest, I went back to the track and finally reached the Seletar Lookout tower.
During my visit a decade ago, the tower was going through a minor renovation so I didn't have the chance to go up to the top and see the amazing view of the reservoir.
Before I went up, I took a few more photos of the tower as it is.
It's interesting that it looks bigger in photos in comparison to what it looks like in actuality.
As I got closer, I was excited to go running around the spiral staircase and find out whether I could go straight up there without taking a pause.
The steps are low so it's not tiring at all, but the reason why I took a pause is because I felt dizzy in spiraling up to the top.
Halfway in the flight of the stairs, I had to take a pause to have a better look of this view.
From here, I went straight to the top of the step and found myself in awe at the amazing view of the reservoir. I appreciate the calmness of the water and the serenity of the place. I can't believe that this is located in Singapore which a contrast to the buzzing city.
As I looked down to the banks of the reservoir, I noticed that there was an ongoing wedding photography session. They were wearing traditional Chinese clothes in the middle of the day when the sun was high up in the sky, they should have brought fans with them to cool down.
The big tree down there is a popular spot for a couple's photography because it is perfectly positioned to welcome the sunset.
After getting satisfied with the view from the top, I decided to go down and go for a quick stroll along the reservoir.
This view is probably a good setting for a dramatic shot...
I was waiting for the photography session to finish so I could take a photo of the tree at the angle that I wanted but it was taking too long so I simply took this last shot of the place with them.
On second thought, it turned out ok that there are people within the frame because it added an interesting element within the shot. I thought that their traditional dresses would fit nicely with a dramatic old photo effect filter, here's the result.
That concludes my #BeautifulSunday morning for this week. It was a tiring stroll but it was worth it. I had fun taking photos along the way and I was thrilled that for this time, I was able to climb up to the top of the tower.

Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
Yay! Thanks a bunch 🤗
Here in Bangkok, if you're in the park, you'll see lots of lizards like that too. I guess they really like the SEA weather.
True.
I noticed that they prefer to hang out along canals where there are fewer people. They look scary but they are actually shy 😅
Aww funny enough, I think ours are less shy. In the park you’ll see them walk pass you like they couldnt care less lol
Lol, I would like to meet them someday. The lizard that I saw this morning was startled when I pointed the camera at it. And then walk away and hide after a few shots 😅
I think I have not been there for 8 years or more. I remember I like the peaceful feeling this place gives me
The only change that I noticed was that the trees grew bigger, everything felt the same, and it still felt calm especially when sitting close to the water 😅.
