#GRATEFULVIBES - ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE/WEEKLY THOUGHTS - 25 MAR 2024 - 31 MAR 2024

Good morning, Hive-ians! 😊

I can’t believe we’ve flown through a quarter of 2024 already. It’s been a weird weather week here; pouring rain one day, a blizzard the next; how has your weeks weather been? 😊
image.png
Our basement Sunflowers are blooming, now if we can just keep the dang aphids off them long enough to get seeds growing, that will be very cool. 😊
image.png
We had a grand total of 29 turkeys visit us at one time this week. It was very cool. I was feeding a squirrel when a few of the young Toms came to look me over. 😊
image.png
My reaching for my camera scared the young males and they took off back towards the flock, and caused my squirrel friend to dive away, but not so far that they risked someone else getting their seeds. 😊

Hanging with a couple of our squirrels. 😊
image.png
I made my handsome husband some pumpkin coconut cookies with cranberries; this is them before heading into the cooker. 😊
image.png
I also made some with chocolate chips for myself and just plain pumpkin coconut. They were supposed to get us through the weekend, but these are hard to resist. 😊
image.png
I’m literally standing less than three feet away from these young Toms feeding another squirrel while they’re below me. 😊
image.png
This is the second of the three squirrels that decided I was safe to grab a snack from this week. 😊

The flock enjoying some grass from our basement. 😊
image.png
Making penne in meat sauce; (with the last of our homegrown peppers,) using some of the sauce we cooked down and canned in 2023. 😊
image.png
Turkeys in the fog…how many can you spot in this shot? 😊
image.png
Hatching started! 😊
image.png
So far, we’ve moved eight down to the brooder box, just waiting on the last few. 😊
image.png
Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! I’m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. 😊 God bless you all. 😊 Have an awesome week everyone! 😊

Chicks already! We never started ours before May 1, just too cold to put them out before early June. I can’t believe you got a sunflower to bloom in the basement! How cool is that?!

Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! 😊

We have started chicks in February before, but found it too cold for them, so now we wait until mid March and have the first batch of hatchlings between the 31st of March and the 04 of April. They stay in the basement until it warms up enough for them. After that, we'll put them in the old chicken coop until they're big enough to fend for themselves with the main flock...right around mid-to-end June. It's our favourite time on the homestead, they're so dang cute. 😊

We have several Sunflowers, some Marigolds, Shasta and African Daisies, Chamomile, Thyme and a few other herbs along with our lettuce and a couple potato plants growing in the basement right now. It's the only way my handsome husband can get through the post winter, pre-thaw time. He's so keen on getting into the garden, but the snowstorm from last week needs to melt off first. 😊

We have a three-year-old tomato plant with a three-year-old broccoli, a couple small lemon trees, a nice ginger, and a couple amazing aloe plants upstairs by our patio doors. Everyone, but the tomatoes, aloe, and broccoli will head outside once it warms up, as well. It's been a lot of fun learning about the plants/trees/herbs we use most and want to learn to cultivate for ourselves. 😊

I've got to go, so we'll chat again soon. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

That’s amazing, all you grow in the basement. But I wouldn’t want messy chicks in my basement all that time!

We are grateful for all that we can grow here. It brings a smile to our faces whenever we see things growing in the basement during the cold winter days. You're right, chicks make a mess, dust gets everywhere, but their cuteness makes it worth it, for sure. 😊

They'll be heading out of the basement as soon as it warms up, then we'll give the house a thorough spring clean, just in time to start getting gardening dirt everywhere. LOL! 😊

Time for evening chores, so I'll say goodbye for now and chat with you again soon! 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
