#GRATEFULVIBES - ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE/WEEKLY THOUGHTS - 24 JUL 2023 - 30 JUL 2023

Good morning, Hive-ians! 😊
image.png
The last of the Red Daylily Blooms blossomed this week, now we just need to collect the seeds for planting around our apple trees in the fall. 😊
image.png
We have been very pleased with our Bee Balm this year and are hoping it will spread out around the whole bottom of the apple tree its under over the next few years, that would so pretty. 😊
image.png
The lovely Smudge, grabbing a snack. 😊
image.png
Every pepper plant we planted now have at least some peppers on them, and if we get as many peppers as there are flowers, we should not run out of sweet or spicy peppers this winter…hopefully…but if we do, that just tells us to plant more next year. 😊
image.png
My handsome husband is looking forward to trying the different spicy peppers, like these Gusto Italia’s. 😊
image.png
I’ve seen some videos on YouTube talking about people and their chicken armies, well we’ve got a chicken army too, but we’ve also been working on our pigeon army as well…I think we’re close to a full battalion now, LOL. 😊
image.png
This was the look on Smudge’s face when I told her she had to get the rest of her sunflower seeds out of my pocket. Priceless, LOL! 😊
image.png
Same look, different angle. 😊
image.png
I love this picture, she’s staring right at me while I’m talking to her, like she’s listening to every word I’m saying. 😊
image.png
My handsome husband had his share of friends pop over for a snack and chat with him this week too. Here he is with the young male squirrel that our elder grandson named “Jo-Jo” on his visit the week before. 😊
image.png
Smudge taking a moment to watch the pigeons. 😊
image.png
It’s been a busy baking week; this is the very active yeast from one of the batches of buns I made. 😊
image.png
Mixing the dough together for some sticky buns. 😊
image.png
These sticky buns were gone within a few hours of making them, they were that tasty, but I managed to snap a photo after just a few had been eaten. 😊
image.png
Some of our beautiful sunset colours this week. 😊
image.png
The second flock of pigeons arriving for their turn in the breakfast rotation. 😊
image.png
Smudge sitting on my lap and chatting with the pigeons while she eats. 😊
image.png
Smudge getting the seeds at the bottom of my pocket. 😊
image.png
We planted a few different colours of Daylily plants last year and this is the bloom from one of the Orangey/Yellow ones. 😊
image.png
If we get seeds from each of the flowers that look to be readying to bloom, we should have a nice supply of these to spread around for next year, too! 😊
image.png
Taking a break to watch the air show that the pigeons are putting on. 😊
image.png
There was a handsome Woodpecker working on the tomato trellis poles when I did my morning walk yesterday. 😊
image.png
That same male Woodpecker a few minutes later, right before it took off. 😊
image.png
One of our Cravens; (Crows and Ravens combined because I can’t tell them apart,) stretching in their favourite tree. 😊
image.png
Is it just me, or does it look like this Daylily is dancing to anyone else? 😊
image.png
Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! I’m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. 😊 God bless you all. 😊 Have an awesome week everyone! 😊

Those are such great shots of your little friend! Very friendly little squirrel.

What kind of peppers are you growing? I love peppers! I just harvested some shishito's to make grilled peppers tonight. They aren't real hot but taste great, and also have some jalapenos growing as well.

You sure have a beautiful place out there!

Welcome back my friend, thanks for visiting! 😊

Thank you very much, the squirrels and chipmunks are usually pretty friendly here, though some are a bit more skittish than others, but we're blessed with a few that will eat right out of our hands or while they're sitting on our laps, which we think is very neat indeed. 😊

We are growing regular Red, Yellow, Orange, and Green Bell peppers; which is all we usually plant, but this year we're also trying a few other types...Rainbow Blend, Mini Bell, Sweetie Snack Mix and one other one...on the sweet pepper side...but I can't recall what it is right this second. This year we've also planted some spicy peppers...Jalapeno's, Hungarian Wax, Gusto Italia, Wicked Ghost, Something Chili...oh dang memory isn't what it used to be...I'm sorry, let me get back to you on the other names. Yum, grilled peppers...I've never heard of Shishito peppers before, I'll have to look them up. 😊

Thank you, we think so too. We call it our slice of heaven on earth. We've been very blessed to be able to live here, for sure. 😊

Thank you for the tip as well. It is much appreciated. 😊

God bless you and yours. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

The Wicked Ghosts are great! But very hot just so you're warned!

I've heard that, there are a few out there that are solely for helping deworm chickens, not for us to eat, though we might try some of them in small quantities, just to see how hot they are...okay maybe not me, but my handsome husband will try a few. LOL! 😊

Smudge is such a cutie! All smiles for the camera too. We have chipmunks living under our shed and they ate all our strwberries last year. Little boogers!

How do you keep all the pigeon poo off your porch? That is a lot of birds.

You are so blessed to live so naturally.

Welcome back my friend, thanks for visiting! 😊

Yes she is, we love having her come up and hang out with us while we drink our tea and coffee in the morning. They all seem to stay out of our gardens, unless we plant Sunflowers in it, which we didn't this year as we learned our lesson last time, thankfully. My handsome husband loves his strawberries and it would not make him happy to come out and find they'd all been eaten by anyone other than himself. LOL! 😊

We don't keep the pigeon poo off the porch; though there isn't nearly as much as you'd expect to see with the amount of feathered friends we have that visit us every day; they're pretty good about not pooping on the porch too much and we just pour water over where they do poop and it rinses right off. 😊

We are indeed, very blessed. We even have a couple of rabbits that like to hang out a couple times a week now, too, so that's really neat, though they never come when I've got my camera with me, maybe they're camera shy. LOL! 😊

Anyway, I'm going out to hang out with them while I finish my tea, so I'll chat with you again later. 😊

God bless you and yours. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! 😊

Yes, there are quite a few around here. We even had a visit from a skunk this week that our bull Prince Lee made the mistake of trying to get close to, poor bugger; he only caught a small bit of the spray, but it was enough to make you not want to hang out with a fellow, just saying. LOL! 😊

I don't know about quiet, Shadow seems to have developed some sort of separation anxiety of late and every time I'm out of sight he starts howling, which of course, makes the other fours dogs howl; maybe uneventful is a better word that would describe our week. LOL! 😊

Today has made up for it though. Getting ready for the Sabbath and our youngest grandsons visit tomorrow...I'm already exhausted, but looking forward to seeing the little guy. He's growing too fast. Anyway, the sun is getting lower in the sky and there's still a few evening chores that need to be done before I can head to bed, so I best get off this computer. I'll chat with you again soon. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

We had a calf sniff a porcupine. That didn't go well either...

Finally, I get to see Smudge and she seems to be quite a cutie! She looks young, trustfull, she managed to be a brave girl :) and she has the guts to get closer and sit in your lap, while looking for seeds, or close to your short pocket. I wonder how old she might be. And I also wonder how you differentiate them? Plus, I also wonder when will she come again so you can make some ++ more pics of her. Thanks so much for sharing this link with me!

Welcome back my friend, thanks for visiting! 😊

Smudge is at least two, maybe three-years-old...I'll have to look through more of my past posts to be sure. She was quite shy at first, but once she realized we'd stop the pigeons from stealing all her treats, she started getting bolder. The first time she jumped from the ground into my lap, I was so excited and happy. The only thing better than that is when she trusted me enough to pet her and pick her up. That was absolutely awesome! 😊

We only name the ones that have distinguishing marks, like Smudge, has a big black birthmark "smudge" on her left cheek, that is very noticeable while she's eating, especially when her mouth if filling up. The rest them just get called chipmunk or squirrel, until they do something that helps us tell them apart from the others. 😊

She and all her chipmunk pals will be back hanging out with us as soon as the snow's gone...probably around end of March-April, she and all her friends will come looking for treats to restock all their hiding spots for next fall. I'll be sure to let you know when there are more pictures of her to be found in my future posts. Until then, there are my posts from last summer to look through and find many pictures of her and her friends to enjoy. 😊

God bless you and yours. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
