#GRATEFULVIBES - ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE/WEEKLY THOUGHTS - 02 OCT 2023 - 08 OCT 2023

Good morning, Hive-ians! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™ve processed so many pounds of peppers, onions, and tomatoes this harvest season. Today I went through all our ripening tomatoes and ended up processing a bunch of red ones, ones that were starting to get over-ripe and few under ripe ones that were getting too soft to make it to the ripe stage. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Some of our stunning sunset colours. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The size of some of the gourds is quite impressive, to us, at least. Thatโ€™s my handsome husbandโ€™s size 11 foot next to one of the biggest ones. ๐Ÿ˜Š

This, (our homemade tomato sauce, fresh garden peppers and onions and some chicken thrown in for the protein with some seasoning, salt, and pepper. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Added to this pasta, not homemade. ๐Ÿ˜Š

With a bit of cheese sprinkled on top, became this. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
The hatchlings hens have started to lay. We think their eggs are so cute, theyโ€™re so tiny, especially next to my handsome husbandโ€™s hand. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our rock wall got some extra colour this week. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Wicked Ghost pepper is turning red. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The lovely Caramel giving me the once over to see if I have any more treats. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
The pickled peppers still look great, one more week and then my handsome husband and neighbour will be trying them, as they both like the spice. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
My favourite tree looking fabulous with all the fall colours from her tree friends behind and around her. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
The flock loves their pre-bedtime free range walk about the yard. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
Floyd looking absolutely fabulous, her feathers and pantaloons are so cute and sheโ€™s a sweet girl. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
The lovely Lady giving us her seal of approval on the gourd placement. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
I spent today doing all my usual chores/tidying and then got going on processing these plus a bag that is just out of frame, and after theyโ€™d been sliced and cored we ended up with another 20 pounds going to the freezer for cooking down this winter. ๐Ÿ˜Š
image.png
Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! Iโ€™m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. ๐Ÿ˜Š God bless you all. ๐Ÿ˜Š Have an awesome week everyone! ๐Ÿ˜Š

That photo of your favorite tree is the best one I've seen. It's stunning! It's always fun when the hens start laying, getting the tiny eggs. Those were extremely popular with my older customers. They were will to pay $3/doz for them. I like the look of the squash and pumpkins on your rock wall. It's been quite a while since you posted chicken photos. I miss our chickens!

Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Awe, thank you for saying that, that's really nice to hear. I'll tell her that you liked her picture when I do my morning walk tomorrow. She'll be pleased, I'm sure. She's a beautiful tree, I just stare at her sometimes and she makes me feel calm and relaxed. I know, that make me sound a bit odd, but I don't care, its true and I am a bit odd, LOL. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The first time we see the little eggs starting we get all giddy, yes, literally, giddy. LOL! They are cute in the egg cartons we've got, they're the large egg size and make the little eggs look even tinier. They are so cute and I'm looking forward to spring when I can hatch some of them out. The little hatchlings are going to be absolutely adorable! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I've been so busy with preserving/freezing everything from the gardens that I haven't spent a lot of time out with the chickens and bull this summer, but I'll try to include more chicken pictures in future posts. (Soon harvesting will be done and I'll have more time with them.) I never realized how much time and effort went into canning/preserving/freezing as much of your harvest as possible, but I'm grateful for the bounty we've been blessed with this year. I think we'll have enough tomatoes for a years worth of sauce, our peppers are going to get us through winter, but I'm not sure we have quite enough to make it to next harvest...we'll see and if we don't, we'll know to plant more next year. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh, I haven't forgotten about the garden pictures either, I've gone through a lot of pictures to find my best ones and I'll be making a post with them in the future as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Okay, now I have to really get off the computer and get to work. Talk with you again soon. ๐Ÿ˜Š

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous family. ๐Ÿ˜Š

It really does take an enormous amount of time to grow or raise your own food, and then to preserve it, in hopes of getting enough for a year.

And I like seeing your tree and thinking, that's her favorite tree!

I don't know how anyone working a full-time job outside the home could ever have the energy to do canning/preserving. I feel like it's been taking up all my days for the past few weeks and I know that's not actually the case as I've done other things as well during those weeks, but all I recall is the chopping/slicing/freezing/canning that has been happening. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Next year will be easier because I'll have good shelves to put all the stuff on, rather than putting it willy-nilly wherever I can find a safe spot. At least we finally got into it this year instead of chickening out like we have in the past. We can't expect to be 100% prepared in our first canning year, can we? No, I don't think so, and that's okay, as I'm far from perfect at anything else, why should canning be any different, LOL! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm glad to hear that. My handsome husband thinks I'm a bit odd for mentioning my favourite tree so often and that I take way too many photos of her, but I think she deserves every single picture, she's statuesque and stands out in the crowd, so why not, I say. LOL! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm exhausted and it's late, so I'm going to say goodnight and head off to bed. Talk with you again soon. ๐Ÿ˜Š
