Good morning, Hive-ians! šŸ˜Š
image.png
Itā€™s been another whirlwind of a week here on the homestead. (We were blessed with a friend with a truck being able to take us on a feed and grocery run. We hadnā€™t gone out for groceries since January and our stocks were low. That took up the better part of an afternoon, but it was a lot of fun to hang out with them while we did it.) I love that the turkeys donā€™t mind me being out among them during my morning walks. They are so neat to watch. šŸ˜Š

Iā€™ve been trying to add to my skills list. I spent a lot of time working on, tearing apart, and reknitting this much. I should have a scarf for one of my grandchildren by Christmas. LOL! šŸ˜Š
image.png
The hatchlings have started getting their tail feathers this week, theyā€™re so cute. šŸ˜Š
image.png
We had another snowstorm this week, but we also got some amazing sunset colours tis week, too. šŸ˜Š

Chilling with my friends. šŸ˜Š

Strutting. There are so many Toms here now, Iā€™ve lost count. šŸ˜Š

This is Star. šŸ˜Š

We still canā€™t be certain how many hens/roosters weā€™ve got, but weā€™re looking forward to seeing whoā€™s what and what their feathered colourings will be. šŸ˜Š

Weā€™re working on getting them all used to being handled, so they donā€™t get overly stressed when it comes time for them to go outside. It gives us a chance to look them all over and try to find distinguishing marks, so we can tell them apart, too. šŸ˜Š

Iā€™m sure youā€™ve heard the term ā€œdog pileā€, well this is a ā€œchick pileā€, LOL! šŸ˜Š
image.png
Once theyā€™ve assumed the chick pile position, it doesnā€™t take them long to all fall asleep. šŸ˜Š

My handsome husband and some of his work crew looking over the garden, to discuss the scratching efforts of the team so far, and they all agreed it looked good, but could always use a bit more. šŸ˜Š
image.png
One of our Toms was still sleeping up in the tree and I managed to catch him before he woke and glided down. šŸ˜Š

Iā€™ve been blessed to see this pretty show almost every day this winter. šŸ˜Š

Iā€™ve tried to make baked beans in the past and they never turned out, the flavour was okay, but the beans were always hard before. This week I tried to make them in my Instant Pot; thereā€™s a bean button on it, and I thought, how bad could they turn outā€¦well they didnā€™t turn out bad at allā€¦they turned out quite lovely, not hard, and great tasting. YAY! šŸ˜Š
image.png
Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! Iā€™m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. šŸ˜Š God bless you all. šŸ˜Š Have an awesome week everyone! šŸ˜Š

Ohhhh, lots of chicks photos! Living vicariouslyā€¦ My experience with beans is they need to be relatively fresh (my brother once tried to use 10 year old beans) and you need to soak them the night before and change the water before boiling them. Change the water again before starting to cook them in the meal. But I donā€™t have an InstantPotā€¦.

Welcome back, lovely lady, thanks for visiting! šŸ˜Š

I thought you'd like the chick pictures @goldenoakfarm. I remember you saying you missed having them around, so wanted to give you plenty to enjoy. šŸ˜Š

I've tried to the soak overnight, change out the water, way of doing beans before, but they never turned out. We really loved the ones from the Instant Pot though. They were supposed to last us for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights suppers, but they only made it through Saturday night. Now I know, to do a double batch to get us through a whole weekend. šŸ˜Š

Oh, my land, it's already after 8 pm here and the sun is setting. That means, I've got to tidy the kitchen and get ready for bed, so I'll say goodnight for now and chat with you again, soon. šŸ˜Š

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! šŸ˜Š
