The quiet love of a mother

This round of the Hive Brasil photocontest has the theme love. That sounds easy, because love is maybe the most used subject in songs, movies and art.
When I saw the entries that already have been submitted for this round I saw a lot of photos from people. And I don’t take a lot of photos of people. I do have some photos from lovers and also from my loving family, but I either can't or don't want to publish those online.
So at first I thought I'd just skip this round and wait for the news subject of the next round.

But then I started to think a bit out of the box and realized it's not only humans who can love.
And then I remembered this photo I took many years ago. it's a picture of a sea lion pup lying close to its mother.
For me, this is a strong symbol of love. A mother’s love is always there. And kids always love their mothers. This kind of love does not need words. You can feel it.
I found it such a touching photo.

There is also a small detail in this photo that makes the feeling even stronger. I’m curious if anyone will notice it.

I was active on Shutterstock for a while years ago where I tried to sell some of my photos. And this was quite a popular one. It's funny to see that my photo has been used on multiple websites, for instance for postcards.

Just to make sure that I really am the photographer of this photo I've added a screenshot of the photo in my archive with the Exif information from the camera I was using back then.

It is totally understandable that you do not want to post family and friends photos. I only do so with permission. Even then I refrain if it is not necessary.

Wow - such a wonderful photo you made. I can see why it was popular. The baby seal, with eyes closed, whilst snuggled up against his/her mother is so sweet. It reminds me of holding my own children when they were babies. There is no feeling nicer than that - for both mother and child.

Nice that you thought out-of-the-box and posted this great photo.

That's a real love photo, man. That little sea lion's nose looks like a heart, I think that was the detail, right? Do you get a good income from Shutterstock? I'm curious about the details because I think I've been taking some nice landscape photos lately. Maybe I can think about sharing them :P

I respect your privacy and I think everyone should. If one day you feel comfortable you can share them.

Thanks man! The ❤️-shaped nose was indeed the detail 😊

I have made some money with Shutterstock in the past, but mostly with very specific images. Landscapes didn't bring up anything. They often weren't even accepted by them.
The thing that were popular were mostly isolated objects. I had a toy car and a fiber optic cable that were used quite a lot too. Taking these pictures was quite time consuming and boring too by the way, so I stopped it after a while.
Nowadays with AI, the market for stock images will probably have collapsed.
